Please add oil light (1l) went on. "You can keep driving"
I guess I'm kind of panicking. I've always said to my wife we will drive this car for 10 years. Now I've possibly botched it up by not paying attention to such a simple thing. It only has 38k km too.

Please add oil light (1l) went on. "You can keep driving"
Is it actually a good idea to drive 600km tomorrow if I haven't changed out the oil completely?

Please add oil light (1l) went on. "You can keep driving"
I will top up the oil tomorrow, and then do the trip we were supposed to do today (~600km in total). Then next week ill book an apointment to have the oil and oil filters changed. Last time I had that done was march, but since then we drove about 9k-10k km so I think it's time. But I'll for sure be checking the oil every month or so from now on, and before and after long trips. We do the 600km trip every 1.5 months orso.

Please add oil light (1l) went on. "You can keep driving"
So my reading (the picture I posted) was actually wrong? Because I had waited an hour after I got home. The engine was still lukewarm to the touch though. Now I'm getting worried again I damaged my engine by driving with an oil level that's too low.

Please add oil light (1l) went on. "You can keep driving"
Sorry to ask, but I just spent some time searching whether one should check the engine oil hot or cold. The consensus was cold all the time. Why check again when the engine is warm? Isn't the oil still "up there" then for a large part, which gives a wrong reading?

Please add oil light (1l) went on. "You can keep driving"
So how do I go about adding the oil tomorrow (it's dark now and the car is outside)? In increments of 0.2 liter, and then do the dipstick test each time until it's at the top of the area of the dipstick with the dimples in it?

There's nowhere else in the manual that specifies which oil you should oil. Of course they're gonna be vague about it so you have to buy their overpriced stuff?

Please add oil light (1l) went on. "You can keep driving"
Hi all, I have a 2021 1.5 TSI skoda octavia 4 petrol. First of all it's my own mistake for not checking oil regularly. I never knew newer cars burnt oil as much as they do (apparently). With my previous cars I never had to check oil levels intermittently, I just went for a yearly oil change and that was that. So today when I was on my way on a several hour trip (30 minutes into the trip). The "please add oil max 1l. You can keep driving" light came on. I didn't have an oil flask in my car nor a location where I could buy one, so I turned around and drove 30 minutes back home. Probably shouldn't have done that and just stopped immediately? Anyway when I came back home the oil dipstick level was this (measured about an hour after stopping): As specified in the manual, the level should be in the green area on the following picture: My least maintenance was 6 months ago in march. So I have no idea how we burnt that quickly through the oil. We did drive around 9000km in that time. Anyway, the garage I used during the last maintenance, used MPM 0w20 synthetic oil. So I went ahead and bought a flask of 1L Castrol 0w20 oil: https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-162116-castrol-edge-professional-ll-iv-fe-0w-20-vag-fully-synthetic-engine-oil.aspx Would that be fine to refill the engine until I get my oil change? In the manual they specify I can only put in 0.5L of VW 508 00 oil IF there is no oil with the right specifications. But they don't say which are the right specifications, so I'm confused. My last question is, if I perhaps did any damage to the car by driving around with low oil levels?

1.5Tsi manual: still kangarooing when cold
I have a 2021 and I've learned to live with it. I just idle for a minute before leaving, so the rev counter drops down 2 times, then I don't have the kangarooing. I've also learned to live with the rumbling sounds and jerking sensations of the "active cylinder technology". It's a weird car.

Max weight of trailer on 1.5 TSI
We would like to purchase a travel trailer, but we don't know what the max allowed weight is our 2021 1.5 TSI Skoda Octavia can pull. I live in Belgium so we have some kind of certificate which mentions the max allowed weights. There's three options: drawbar trailer, centre-axle trailer and drawbar trailer. Which one is it? Pic of certificate:

Car maintenance before warranty expires
Used cars dealership told me next oil change due either at 1 year of ownership (so in april), or at 30000km. I know the kangarooing was supposed to dealt with with software updates... I also visited the used cars dealership with the problem, and they told me it's my style of driving... When starting I tend to not accelerate hard enough, he told me that was the issue... I don't but it though. The car does infact not jerk (or slightly) when I accelerate harder. Another thing I haven't mentioned is the car also goes faster when I leave immediately, instead of first waiting 2 minutes.

Car maintenance before warranty expires
What is TPI covering? I've read a lot on forums about these particular problems I've been having, and it seems these are all "normal" features of the "modern" VAG engines. The kangarooing in particular. I only have it in the beginning, and if I wait 2 minutes I don't have it at all... I already went in to the dealers about 6 months ago with the jerking issues, they used their analyzing software and checked everything and they reassured me everything was fine... I have no idea what to think about it really.

Car maintenance before warranty expires
Ah yes. Let me summarize: - I've accepted the jerking at the start as an issue that can't be fixed. So I just let the engine run 2 minutes before leaving and it's fine after that. I don't care anymore. - The beeping sound at 110km/h hasn't gone away, but it doesn't really bother me so, I just put the radio on... I guess I could go to the dealer for it, but I don't know if it's worth it. - Brakes still squeel but I've come to accept it - The hiccups are due to the ACT, the cilinders disabling and enabling. A normal feature of the car I guess... - The high pitched metallic sound is still there and I don't know what it is, but I guess it's a normal feature of the car. - Vibrations are due to the ACT Can I update the software myself? Or is this only done at the dealership? Or can I get this done at an independent also?

Car maintenance before warranty expires
The car was manufactured march 2021. Standard warranty is 2 years here (Belgium). Previous maintenance was when it was sold to us, at 16000 km. It is not at 26500km. It's a 1.5 TSI manual.

Car maintenance before warranty expires
I don't live in the UK so MOT is not applicable here. The car has to be checked by a government agency but that is in 2024. What would I ask for at the independent? For instance oil change, oil filter...?

Car maintenance before warranty expires
So my warranty expires in 2 months. I bought the car at a used car's dealership, but it still had a year on the warranty left. Should I bring it to the dealership for the yearly maintenance or just go to an independent garage? Dealership is more expensive as everyone knows. Of course they won't reveal any problems with the car unless warranty has expired. But maybe there are other benefits I don't know of... Also, what do I ask for? I'm thinking of change the front air filter myself, since that's an easy job. I'm thinking: - oil change - oil filters - transmission fluid - brake fluid

Rained inside car: passenger side insulation under carpet moist
You can't remove the passenger side carpet. It's the insulation underneath which is wet.

Rained inside car: passenger side insulation under carpet moist
Well I was stupid and left the passenger side window cracked open. It rained heavily and it dripped all night on the passenger side carpet. The carpet itself is dry to the bone, but if I feel with my fingers under that rectangular cutout in the carpet (what are those for anyway?), I feel wet insulation. So that needs to be dried out to prevent mold. How would I go about that without replacing it? What I already tried: pointing a fan inside that rectangular hole and propping the carpet up with a small piece of plastic. My reasoning is the following: allow airflow between the metal and the insulation, thus evaporating the moisture. I successfully dried it out partially, but when I feel further with my finger, I still feel moistness so I suspect the moisture extends over the entire carpet. I can prop the entire carpet up but getting airflow with a fan in there is difficult through that rectangular cutout. What I'm gonna try: put a dehumidifier in the car and hope it pulls the moisture from the carpet... Any other suggestions?

Vibrations/weird sound when driving around 2k rpm
How do I actually know if my octavia has ACT? Because for all I know it doesn't have it. It doesn't say so on Skoda Connect either, just the Skoda Octavia 1.5 TSi Ambition. And if it doesn't have ACT, is it still switching cilinders? Or do they all come with ACT nowadays?
-
Vibrations/weird sound when driving around 2k rpm
Is it normal you can hear this on the outside of the car? When the engine switches cilinder modes?
-
Vibrations/weird sound when driving around 2k rpm
I have the analogue indeed.

Vibrations/weird sound when driving around 2k rpm
I don't have any information on the dashboard about which cylinder mode the engine is in. Searched everywhere. No eco symbols either. Well I've driven around 10k km with it since I bought it (used at 15k km) and it hasn't gotten worse so... Not sure if these are "features" of the car or I should be worried.

Vibrations/weird sound when driving around 2k rpm
So I have a 2021 Skoda Octavia 4 (ambition). I already have numerous problems with it explained here: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/507885-issues-with-skoda-octavia-2021-combi-15-tsi/?_fromLogin=1 But something else I didn't explain in the other thread is more concerning to me. So when I drive in 2nd, 3rd or 4th at sub 2k rpm (or around it) there are vibrations coming from the engine compartment which I can feel throughout the cabin and the steering wheel. These vibrations end abruptly when I accelerate past 2k rpm, and I can hear a "wooshing" sound from the engine, as if some compartment from the engine is being enabled/disabled. It is audible on the outside of the car also. I can feel a reasonably strong hiccup in the car when this occurs, and this occurs numerously through the drive while switching gears at varying speeds.... I've gathered from the other thread this might be from the engine disabling/enabling cylinders? I don't know anything about cars, but I get the feeling this isn't quite normal. Or is it? Also, there is a fast chirping noise coming from the engine when accelerating....

Issues with Skoda Octavia 2021 combi 1.5 TSI
Oh and one more thing; (since I can't seem to edit the original post) When driving at sub 2k rpm in 4th and 3rd gear, the steering wheel seems to vibrate slightly. As a matter of fact, the whole car seems to vibrate. At first I thought this was due to the roads I was driving on, but it's definitely due to the car.

Issues with Skoda Octavia 2021 combi 1.5 TSI
I bought a used Skoda Octavia 2021 combi 1.5 TSI with around 16k km. Right now it's at 24k km. The car was manufactured march 2021 and Overall I love the car, but there are some issues which I wonder if they are normal or not. I'm considering going back to the dealer for some of these issues as I still have a good 4-5 months of warranty. - The car jerks and jumps when starting the engine cold in the morning. I don't have this issues if I wait a minute before leaving. It disappears after about a minute of driving. But it's incredibly annoying and stressing. I didn't pay this amount of money to have a jerking car. - When cruise control is enabled at around 110km/h in 6th gear, I get a constant annoying beeping sound. I don't know where it comes from but it's annoying and I don't have it in other gears or other speeds. - the brakes squeel at low speeds. I've been to the used garage where I bought it and they took them apart, cleaned them and put some stuff on it. Didn't work they are still squeeling. - When leaving in the morning there seems to be a one time "hiccup" of the engine when I accelerate to above 50-60km/h. As if it loses power for a fraction of a second. - I feel small engine hiccups after that, rare but they are still there from time to time. - When accelerating in the range of 30-90km/h, there is a constant sound coming from the engine which I find odd. It's almost like a high pitched metallic sound in regular intervals (hard to describe).
