  1. I have recently had problems trying to create a primary user profile which, if I understand correctly should give me access to more ‘bells and whistles’. I have managed to create my profile (with difficulty as it stated it needed to register both my keys but then proceeded to tell me they were already registered and so wouldn’t let me go any further. I had to delete everything and start from scratch again). Having completed my profile I was then invited to become the Primary User. This I accepted, it said it was changing the settings but then nothing happened. I waited 20 minutes with the ‘spinning wheel’ thinking something was happening only to receive an error message telling me that something had gone wrong and to contact customer services. I have tried deleting my profile several times and starting again but can get no further. Unhelpfully, it tells me to contact customer services but fails to provide any contact details. In theory this should be a simple process, according to my son, as all he did on his recently purchased Skoda was to scan the QR code and follow the instructions, which I have done many times Any ideas what I am doing wrong please or contact details for help?
  2. Mine will come to a halt and start off again once the vehicle in front clears or is out of the range you have set your ACC to operate at so I assume yours will. That said mine is an auto but your is manual so I can’t be certain they will act in the same manner.
  3. Hi Will. On my ACC I just set it to the required speed and it adapts to the traffic, slowing down to a halt smoothly if that's what the traffic ahead has done and then accelerates back to the set speed when traffic ahead clears or it maintains its set distance behind traffic if it doesn't clear. It's that side of the ACC that I like. Hope that helps
  4. I tend to favour CC over ACC but both have their place, both with strong points and both with weak. I just tend to favour using CC the majority of the time but would like the opportunity to use either when the situation calls for it. It shouldn’t be in the ‘too difficult tray’ for the manufacturers as my last car (2016) had both fitted.
  5. Since buying my 22 reg Kodiak the clocks have changed from BST to GMT, I have travelled to Spain (+1hour), Portugal ( -1 hour) with the clock settings on auto but at no time did the the clock automatically adjust the time. I have now completed the return journey with the clock set to manual and still there has been no automatic time adjustment. Am I doing something wrong or is there a setting somewhere that I have not found? TIA
  6. Hi Billy, Glad you had such success. If only I was so lucky!!!
  7. Thanks Boxer Boy, The issues you raise regarding not being able to get a smooth ride are exactly my point. I can't believe that you can't have choice depending on the conditions. To select either CC or ACC.
  8. Thank you. I will get it checked out when I return to the UK. I have driven many different new cars cars over the years (firms cars/hire cars - not mine) and always found the engine management system seems to keep a pretty good check on keeping the engine revs at a fairly constant rate no matter what, but it doesn’t seem the case here but I do have limited knowledge of the modern small turbo charged engine and their quirks, hence my queries. For peace of mind I will take it to the main deal as it is under 12 months old with just over 11K on the clock so hopefully if there is an issue it should come under the warranty.
  9. Thank you. That explains a couple of other matters I was wondering about
  10. You could be describing my driving style!!!
  11. Where I am at the moment, the cold start in the morning is taking place temps of, on average 12/14 degrees, so not a cold cold start but it is revving to about 2k before dropping back. I our daytime temps are high teens low 20s so I guess my fuel consumption would equate to a reasonable day back in the UK.
  12. From the replies I am getting it would appear that the revving/MPG and ACC issues I have highlighted all seem to be quirks of the modern car (my last one was 6 years old when I let it go). It has put my mind at rest if nothing else, so thank you all
  13. Thanks Kenny, The battery should be ok as it is not usually used for short runs and I am at present in an area where the temperatures are relatively mild so it isn’t working too hard to start up in the mornings. It is due for service at the end of March so guess I will get them to look at it then. Thanks again.
  14. Wrong choice of words by me, I should have said ‘constant deceleration when a car pulls in front’. I agree, that as the car moves away so my car accelerates up to the preset speed as the distance between me and the overtaking car increases. It’s just unnerving when a car pulls in front and my car suddenly slows (to the distance set by ACC) as for a split second you think something has gone wrong with the car.
  15. It is what it is. It’s still more economical than my 3L diesel Jeep so I’m not complaining, just wondered if I should be getting more
  16. Many thanks Nick, sounds like the only option really.
  17. Hi Yogi, I spend quite a bit of time out of the UK and unfortunately when diving on many of the roads abroad, when overtaking, many motorists will insist on pulling in very quickly (on both dual and single carriageways) after overtaking me. Even if I have the ACC set to the minimum distance, the radar picks up the overtaking car which has suddenly pulled in front and brakes for me to avoid what it thinks will be a collision. It is not smart enough (and why should it be) to know that the overtaking car is accelerating so it need not take any action. I find the constant automatic braking annoying and if I had CC I could carry on my merry way. I am not a slow driver but I am more observant of the speed limits when abroad as I do not wish to fall foul of the local law enforcement who can sometime be ‘difficult’ if stopped. As stated in my original post I am not anti ACC (very handy in stop go traffic/average speed cameras) I just think there is a case for having the option to use CC only as well.
  18. Hi Toot, Thanks for your reply. I probably did not explain myself correctly. Yes the car is coasting but when it drops into the lower gear, there is no retardation, the car just continues to coast although the dash shows it has gone from D to a lower gear. If you didn’t see the rev counter jump and engine note rise you would be unaware that anything had happened, it just continues as before. I am not technically minded with the gearbox but I do know that the Golf was an 05, 2L diesel and had a twin clutch DSG. I appreciate this car was much older that my present car and hence my query, as with the modern, smaller turbo charged engines I am unsure how they are supposed to act/react.
  19. Thanks Yogi, My car would typically have two adults and a medium dog with no luggage doing a trip of about 60 miles on undulating roads at about a constant 65 mph in very light traffic. If that’s what I can expect then thats fine with me.
