  1. Hi James, Thanks for that - I have tried unpairing and re-pairing but I'll look at your other suggestion - Nigel
  2. Thanks for that Steve, it's still not working properly but I can live with it. Nigel
  3. The Car is a 2023 1.5SEL TSI which has the Admundsen version. The phone is connected by Bluetooth.
  4. When I receive a call it does not now ring on the infotainment system although I can see I have a call on the screen. I wondered if it might be my phone so I tested it with my wife's, with the same result - or lack of. Both phones will ring in her car though. Any ideas please?
  5. Thanks guys for your advice. Following Surry John's suggestion I checked the infotainment system and the car says that a service isn't due for another year or 13,000 miles. On that basis I think I'll just get the oil and filters changed at a good local garage and think about Skoda's two year service next year.
  6. My Octavia SEL 1.5 Etec is coming up to a year old and the dealer I bought it from keep contacting me about a service. There is a good local garage up the road where we have always taken our cars to and I'm inclined to go there as all it probably needs is an oil and filter change - it's just turned 6,000 miles. The main dealer is probably going to charge more than double the local garage and it's much further away. Has anyone on here used their local garage for servicing whilst the car is still under warranty?
  7. I bought my Octavia SEL new in April this year and the infotainment system regularly used to turn itself off and on again when I started up, occasionally up to three or four times. I was ready to book it into the dealers but the fault has now ceased and I notice that it has downloaded update 1941. There being no other issues with the car I have to say I am happy with the mk 4 although it does not have some of the features that were standard on my 17 plate mk 3 SEL.
  8. No, you can view the mileage since refueling from the infotainment screen but there is no trip meter -something I've had on all my cars since the year dot!
  9. I've just moved from a Mk3.5 SEL to a new Mk4 SEL and this is another thing that is missing on the newer model (along with a trip meter and Velcro attachments to the sides of the boot to stop stuff sliding about - and that's not all).
  10. When my car finally arrived I received a letter from Skoda apologising for the delay and a £100 One Code Token which you can use at places like Amazon, Argos and John Lewis. Something to look forward to then.
  11. I ordered my Octavia 1.5 SEL Etec DSG on 6th September 2022 and picked it up on Monday, they quoted 37 weeks+ but it came in 29 weeks.
  12. Picked up my Mk iv 1.5 etec on Monday and the lane assist is already getting really annoying. Is there a quick way of disabling the function without having to go through the menu on the infotainment screen?
  13. I went to look at my MK iv 1.5, TSI e-Tec the other day that has now arrived at the dealers, I'm picking it up later this week. The sales assistant is absolutely useless and didn't know any technical details of the car, had no idea how the e-Tec works or where the battery is located. Can any of you guys enlighten me on this please so I know what to look for when I go back? Whilst I'm here how are e-Tec owners getting on with their cars and what sort of MPG are you achieving?
  14. Picking mine up on Thursday (ordered 6/9/2022, I should be more excited but I will be so sorry to see my excellent mark 3,5 go.
  15. Thank you for your replies but the point I was trying to make in my original post was that residual values of nearly new cars can be even more than those of new ones, so any insurance payout, in the event of a write off, would not result in a substantial loss, as opposed to previously when new models lost a big proportion of their value as soon as they were driven off the forecourt. Is GAP insurance necessary at the present time therefore?
  16. A neighbour of mine has just bought a new car and not bothered with gap insurance as, because of the long delivery times, used models are fetching as much, if not more, than new ones so any amount he'll receive in the event of a write off is pretty much the same.. That's got me thinking, I ordered a new Octavia last September because the price of nearly new ones, if you can get them,, was the same so what would be the point of spending £500 on gap insurance when mine eventually arrives?
  17. I ordered mine (Octavia SEL 1.5 DSG) on 6th September 2022 when I was quoted a delivery time of 37 weeks which would take us to June. The dealer rang last week to say it should be with them in two to three weeks - two months earlier than the original estimate.
  18. I ordered a 1.5 DSG TSi in September 2022 when I was given an estimated delivery time of "37 weeks plus". The dealer has informed me that it is currently being built but the delivery will not be till about June 2023. This is in line with the original estimate so let's wait and see.
  19. Yes, the Skoda GAP insurance is a bit steep but do your research before buying a cheaper policy, will they be there for you if you need to claim?
  20. I would tell them I'm going on holiday until 1st March and insist they register it then. You might feel the date registered is more important but others don't, the residual value of a 23 reg will almost certainly more than a 72reg.
  21. On the topic of spare wheels, I've ordered a 1.5 SE L mild hybrid with the option of a space saver spare. Does anyone know if the under-boot area would accommodate a full size spare please bearing in mind they have to find room for a battery?
  22. I ordered an Octavia 1.5 SEL TSI Auto on September 6th 2022 when I was given a delivery date of 37 weeks plus. The dealer rang me last week saying that the car is being built in February but the delivery will still be June. This fits in with the original estimate but whether it happens or not is anyone's guess.
  23. Is the trip meter, and reset button, another function that has been discontinued on the MK iv or is it something else hidden in the infotainment jungle?
  24. My dealer just telephoned to say that Skoda are going to start building the 1.5 SEL DSG, that I ordered in September, sometime in February with a delivery of June . I understand that there is a facelift due in "early 2023" so is it reasonable to expect my new car to be the facelift? The dealer is unable to say but I will be quite annoyed if it isn't.
  25. Thanks for all the replies guys.
