Adding Maps and Reversing Camera
Just to add to this, mines the "basic" one from Aliexpress, it has the trajectory lines that move with the wheel, the advanced one can have the parallel parking, wide angle and towbar views coded in, far too much for me to be bothered, i just want to double check the bush I'm reversing against is actually a bush and doesn't have a sneaky post hidden in there 🤣

Adding Maps and Reversing Camera
Hi, I'm sure someone far more knowledgeable will be along to help shortly but i'll try my best now, I'd say it depends on the unit, can you use apple car play/android auto? i know most people do, i updated my maps and software a few months ago as its not included in the warranty apparently and is a £150 charge from skoda yes! i've recently done mine (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000230897829.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.40694c4dTEPT93) thats the one i have, you'll have to measure your boot handle to check and get the correct size, below is Weylands thread on fitting it, really useful helped me A LOT! there is another camera but that has more wires and has to be coded afaik, seems very out of my wheelhouse so the one i've linked, and is referenced a lot in the below thread, is plug an play and works really well!

water vapour from exhaust
i've got a 2019 mk3.5 vrs 245 petrol hatchback (essentially what you have) on 22k, had it since it was 9 months old on 6k and its always done it, i do 8 miles daily for work and some other shortish trips midweek and weekends (10-20 miles) and mine still does it, been checked by skoda under warranty and by my local trustable indy, perfectly fine, as others have said its just water vapour, probably doesn't help that mines parked facedown downhill so any water will trickle down the exhaust, my indys recommendation? when up to temp give it a few boot fulls to clean the pipes out, lightcliffe skoda also told me to do the same and if the police stop me about it to tell them to ring skoda so got my free speeding pass 🤣 get it checked if you're genuinely concerned they'll probably pressure test the coolant tank and take it for a run but it is a known thing, fella who did the pointing on my house has the exact same car on an 18 plate and when i asked him about flooring it and in general in winter he said "do you activate your cloud system too?" we had a good laugh about it, just a VAG feature

How To - Reverse Camera Fitting Guide
Hi and many thanks to @weyland and all other contributors to this thread! got my camera (Cam-A) last week and decided the weekend just gone would be my D-Day. Took about three hours on Saturday and half an hour on Sunday to neaten things up/make sure boot trim was back in place properly. started at the front to check the camera was working and had the devils own job of getting the media unit out and back in again once the harness was fitted, some lying in the footwell and wiggling around managed to get it back in! moved to the rear to check the new boot release switch would work which it did RESULT! decided on the lower route for the video cable as i didnt fancy getting too close to the curtain airbags, then my first error of tracking the video feed cable from front to back which left me getting the bigger end of the connector through the boot gator/grommet..... good 45 minutes, a lot of swearing and a sore back later it was through and fed though the left boot panels to be plugged into the boot release plug and jobs a goodun, all works perfectly, probably just take a little time getting used to it but its really good for the money! anyone reading this thread wondering if they can or can't do it, just go for it! the knowledge and information in this thread is invaluable and helped me a lot! so did a good set of trim removal tools from amazon and a multlibit screw driver from Aldi with the torx bit required the inner boot pulldown! now onto the list of new black badges and a maxton kit, i'm feeling very brave and very mekanic!

Amundsen MIB2 Firmware Update
Hi @pab567 would you be able to tell me if there's any updates to my software? Skoda very kindly informed me that software updates are not part of the warranty, which was news to me, so is chargeable 😅

Parking Sensors/rear bumper
Thanks for the video but as mine is a petrol VRS my bumper is slightly different, i've attached a stock google image and circled the one that's popped in, the far right hand side one i managed to reattach and it seems all okay, just dont know whether i can take the black bit underneath the reflectors off and get easy access that way

Parking Sensors/rear bumper
Hi all, My car went into Skoda to get mot'd on Friday 9th and had a wash and vac whilst there, check Saturday afternoon and the centre right hand parking sensor was partially knocked in, accidentally went and fully knocked it in myself, checked the left two they seem fine, the far right (above exhaust) popped in with a gentle touch. Skoda have said they'll check their videos and I'm waiting for them to get back to me, got a strong feeling that a) it was probably the pressure washer that's loosened them and b) they'll refuse to touch it, even though it has the extended warranty. basic question is how hard is the bumper to get off? done a good search on here and can't find much and also done a google/youtube and i'm in a similar predicament, was wondering whether i can either loosen the right side of the bumper or take the lower valance off and i might be able to stick my hand/arm up there and put it back into place and electrical tape it to the inside of the bumper, doesnt need to be pretty either way, tia for any help 👍

Headlight washers
Exact same thing happened to me, i went into skoda all angry and it was simply a blocked tube, perhaps using them a bit has forced any crap out 👍

Long term coolant leak but no sign of it externally
Albeit mine is a 2019 Tsi, i had a leaking thermostat housing, would slowly lose coolant and i had to keep on topping it up, are you experiencing worse fuel economy? i'd maybe get that checked see if its an issue as mine passed pressure checks

Octavia VRS 245 Numerous issues (Coolant loss/High MPG, Headlight washers low pressure, rear suspension clunk)
It’s a rather odd one but I bought the car at 9 months old with 6k on it at the start of March 2020 and they serviced it before I even bought it and that’s when it’s been serviced in 2021&22, it’s had it’s brake fluid changed and the front diff has been serviced, sure I’ve got a print out off the works it’s had done pdi and so on somewhere

Octavia VRS 245 Numerous issues (Coolant loss/High MPG, Headlight washers low pressure, rear suspension clunk)
Thermostat housing is leaking so ended up buying the two year all in warranty and at a vat, parts, labour cost of just on £1,100 the all in warranty being £699 over two years it’s paying for its self! Booked in for Monday 6th feb so should hopefully get fixed up! the headlight washer they claim was just blocked/frozen due to the cold despite it not working properly in October so I called BS on that, showed the mechanic and he agreed it’s not working so when the front end is off for the thermostat it’ll be getting looked at/fixed. rear clunk, haven’t the foggiest, took a mechanic out on a test drive and it was silent but when I drove home it immediately clunked out the road the forecourt is on, tried to get a video to show them but driving with your phone in hand videoing is dodgy and my dashcam doesn’t pick it up fully, they claim everything is tight suspension wise but once the thermostats fixed I may take it to my trusty Indy let them have a mooch. Checked the boot bump stoppers but they all seem sound so guess it’s a wait and see

Octavia VRS 245 Numerous issues (Coolant loss/High MPG, Headlight washers low pressure, rear suspension clunk)
So little update; Skoda have said the front headlight washer would need the bumper off to diagnose. The rear suspension clunk, suspension could need regreasing (have heard of that before tbh) but could do with being diagnosed/investigating more so pretty much break the rear suspension down to have a proper look There is definitely a coolant leak (Yay 😪) but they're not sure where from so will need the engine bay effectively stripping to find it properly, i'm still sticking to the water pump/housing or thermostat but see what they say as/when it can be booked in. as it's out of warranty they said there's basically two options; the all in one deal two services, mot's, breakdown, warranty for £29pm for two years, but i cant claim for the first 30 days which means that it basically 2023 it gets looked at so **** fuel economy for a few weeks and the service guy i spoke to wasn't sure if i could just cancel if i hand the car back at the end of the PCP as i'll have used some of the services/mot and what not. other option is just hand it in, get a courtesy and fight Skoda UK for the cost or contribution, given the mileage i reckon i'd be in with a good shout but its a risk. i did put the car in in October 2020 for a bad blume of smoke out the exhaust, something i've read is a common thing on here, but wonder whether it was connected back then? even a pressure test can miss slight leaks according to golf gti mk7 forums, but guess i'll have many bridges to cross hahahaha

Octavia VRS 245 Numerous issues (Coolant loss/High MPG, Headlight washers low pressure, rear suspension clunk)
Thanks for your reply! That's what I thought, my local Skoda dealers has agreed to have a look at the weekend when it's in but looking at other forum posts and seeing similar instances its kinda made up my mind that that's the issue now, but gonna take it easy the next few days. That 30-35 is with stop/start doing its thing and obviously relies on my lead foot behaving 🤣 The clunk is just from the rear in general can't decipher if its from the left or the right hand side sorry! definitely a new thing, I'd say the last few weeks/months, did think it was stuff in the compartment boxes so that's why I wrapped them in an old blanket to see if it made any difference! I was thinking to myself should I buy an extended warranty when mine ran out but never bothered, as I'm uncertain in march 2024 whether I'm keeping the car or handing back, I only do 160 miles a month for work and maybe another 100 on other things so the car is not hammered or certainly not abused just the occasional spirited drive when its fully warmed up 😈 but we'll see how I go this weekend and I can report back

Octavia VRS 245 Numerous issues (Coolant loss/High MPG, Headlight washers low pressure, rear suspension clunk)
Hi all, been a long time lurker on the site but need a little help/advice. So 2019 Mk3.5 (Mk3 FL) petrol VRS Hatchback, bought in March 2020 with 6000 miles on (think it was registered June 2019) at the minute I'm sat on around 15,700 so maybe call it 16K miles, all services carried out when Skoda told me (So FSH). Easier of the issues (probably) is the passenger headlight washer has poor pressure, water pretty much dribbles out onto the headlight, drivers side is fine. Wondering whether I can wash the screen/headlights and turn the ignition off to trap the headlight washer stalks out of the bumper to give it a good clean? don't fancy taking the bumper off or just trying to pry the stalk &/or cover out. Sure skoda will be expensive for this? Next issue, rear suspension clunk. I generally go slow over humps and avoid pot holes but there is a fairly loud clunk coming from the Octys arse. Quite certain stuff in the side boot pocket compartments can't be making the noise as they're wrapped in an old blanket, admittedly I haven't checked the spare wheel well (Will do tonight to rule out my stupidity) Have seen this german forum http://www.skodacommunity.de/skoda-forum/skoda-octavia-iii-forum/87256-polternde-hinterachse-ursachen-%C3%BCbersicht-in-startbeitrag/ mentioned in this thread about shocks so may be something to pass onto Skoda dealership when it goes in. Final issue is coolant; one which i know is prevalent on here shall i say. was going out for a friends stag at the start of October and was sat with the engine on in a maccys carpark for 15 minutes and got a low coolant bong and there was a few millimetres of coolant in the tank, left it at a friends house and collected later on and it was a few millimetres below the min level so crawled home (4 Miles) topped up with some G13 Evo (bought from Skoda) and a family friend mechanic told me to take it for a motorway blast then check the level and over the last few weeks its dropped a few millimetres every week or so. Skip to the end of last week and my normal 4 miles journey to & from work will average 30-35 Mpg (depends how i drive; boy racer mode 30, behave 35) it has suddenly dropped to 20/21. Fairly certain after searching the forum that this'll be the Water pump or the thermostat? Happy to proven wrong obviously! Cars due in this weekend for its free winter health check, is it worth mentioning all three issues? i think i've listed them in ascending order of seriousness but i don't think they'll be too happy to have a look during a free check, and as its now just out of warranty (bugger) i know the diagnostic fee will be a chunk, TIA for any help/advice and what not!
