Just went to fit a new headunit, took the old after market one out and found that the quadlock connector has been chopped out, and wiring spliced. The new unit comes with to different ISO connectors but these are useless with the factory connector chopped out. If someone has a picture of the wiring at the back of the original wiring connector. But Ideally I need colour code wiring for the headunit on a mk2 octavia 2013 . Im assuming Skoda/vw of that era used a standardised wiring and head unit connector. Thanks in advance

Im not after chasing silly figures, but when i was messing with my MGTF we used to do stuff like swapping injectors for ones from other MG cars, porting throttle body and air intake, uprated fuel pumps etc. I think Re Performance have a well pimped up 1.6 just to highlight their skills. BTW while im here, anyone know if the suspension of anything else is any good for a mk2 estate? wondering if any aftermarket shocks n springs i might come across from a saloon or maybe of any other VAG will fit. Maybe mk5 golfs are a poss donor? I like to do my mods via scrapyards, ebay, fb and marketplace etc😂

Just wondering as seen this with other makes of car. Can you fit larger injectors, fuel pump, and turbo 4 example, when trying to tune up/improve a 1.6tdi? Was going to take it to be professionally mapped, and wanted to have mods done b4 hand. Anyone played at this with the 1.6 cayc engine? Dpf/egr removal also maybe, sports cat?

Holy thread revival !!!!😮 Got to say this thread is basically useless, when people say " ive changed this that and the other" and then put up no details whatso ever on how to do it. Is there a post any where , that shows the method and coding etc for each adaption. At the moment I only want to do basic things like, door unlock, seatbelt warning, interior lights, wiper behaviour etc. Ta in advance 4 any reply

I know that, hence why i said as much in the original post. (re VCDS and not being any use for mapping/ecu reads) Will have to have a look again at ross tech site tho for more info on using VCDS. I wonder if they use a special OBD2 lead to hook up to a laptop for doing maps or just a generic one, and its the software package that does most of the stuff? Im going to have to get googling, doesnt look like many people on here are doing much in the way of mapping.

As above really would like to learn a bit, who on here knows what websites there are out there re mapping? Whats the basics you can use with a windows PC? Ive already got an ODB2 faullt code tablet for diag, but it doesnt allow access to check if ECU has been previously mapped. Also have VCDS full version, but havent played with it much since I got it. Believe that you cant do owt with VCDS either re the ECU?? And whilst We are on the subject of VCDS, is there a good guide on here or elsewhere on how to use it to get the best/most out of it? still on the 2nd hand tuning box, update from 2day, been on an airport run and unsurprisingly MPG was much better averaging 45mpg. Car does go like stink now, even preety responsive in eco mode. box is dialled down too program 2 minus 3 setting. But MPG is pants for a diesel round town. had loads of diesels before and not as bad as this. Might run it without the box with the next tank to compare.
