  2. anybody know why as above... vrs mk1 wipers always stay on even when key removed . >screen spray works > position off / 1 / 2 stay at one speed >position 3 goes faster would this be the relay or something playing up? any tips as obviously doing my head in?πŸ˜… i took out the 30 amp fuse to turn them off... but not an ideal method when its a day with rain showers that are on off frequently.. nothing more daft looking tja than driving with no rain but got wipers onπŸ˜…πŸ€£ cheers

  4. Turned out it was the lower intercooler hose had torn apart πŸ˜…πŸ˜… Got a new one to fit, but cos the intercooler connector been ravaged with 4 self tappers.. Gonna self tap it on or use a couple of jubilees and 13mm 115kg strength cable ties Test drove it a few times but it popped off each time after a mile or so cos was only using shty cable ties with no jubilees.. Power is back, and black smoke completely gone πŸ™
  5. Hi folks fitting one of the Β£400 ebay fmic kits... Seen there's guides for the airtec and forge kits, but but slightly different setups and mounting points etc... The ebay kits have sold a lot but no guide is included... Anybody posted a guide anywhere for the ebay kit... The one circled... And is it a straight swap or do I need to buy adapters or additional bits to fit it.. Got an angle grinder and reciprocating saw as u need to cut bits away so I believe βœ‚οΈπŸ˜… Cheers

  7. over the past couple weeks i have the glow plug light come on flashing... and EML... and car was crawling , but back then one of my calipers had been seized so might have been related to that ?? once i reset the codes and EML it drove, not back to normaly.. but at least could get over 30 in it πŸ˜… i doubt glow plugs make u lose power cos they only get used when starting up from cold i think.
  8. i got one of those mityvac mv8500 vacuum and pressure testers the other day... u reckon i could use that to test for boost pipe leakage by pressuring it using the hand pump?
  9. is cts .... coolant temperature sensor? i only got the car 2 months ago.. it drives and smokes the same if minus 10 , or plus 10 degrees outside.
  10. i got one of the front mount intercoolers off ebay... ive not fitted it ,so maybe that'll help.. or sort the problem if its boost pipe related
  11. when i take the maf off theres no black smoke but i lose about another 30% power of the already lowered amount. it used to have basically zero black smoke but a sht load of power, until 1 drive when everything changed over a 50 mile journey. if the maf was functioning ok as is... and i have a major boost leak under boost load above 1800rpm would that drop the power and create the black smoke on its own... even if everything jing else is ok at the moment. i want to figure it out without just throwing money at things to see if it on the offchanve helps or maybe fixes it. the temp gauge on the dash doesnt stay steady at mid way... it is mainly lower (about 50 to 70% of the way from cold to mid) and then now and then goes up to the normal mid zone when i put the foot down for a bit. it never goes past mid way standard temps tho.. not over heating at all.
  12. alrite troops the things been losing power past few weeks, not much in way of boost going on.. its about 40 to 60% power of what it normally is.. black smoke on full throttle.. pretty poor mpg compare to what i was getting.. prolly cos all the fuels leaving in a puff of black smoke when i throttle it lol if i drive like a granny im getting high mpg but if i put the foot down it ready like 5 , 10mpg on the dash until i ease my foot off.. cleaned the egr to nice n shiny... removed the air filter to see if any difference. nothing... disconnected maf... and the black smoke vanished 100% but felt like driving a 1.2 or 1.4 πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ€£ the lower boost pipes got 4 bolts in it, so cant be that, cos it kept jumping off... could it be a major boost leak somewhere?? turbo gone bad?? or something else.... lost the power 1 day few weeks back, and been the same ever since.. one of my calipers was sticking and the car drive as if it was part braking all the time, didnt roll for sht ... and mpg was a killer ... sorted the caliper and it rolls again... hoped the power would be back... but is it fk 😭😭
  13. sorted , got them both out.πŸ™ the seal and bellow are looking alrite so might get away with cleaning everything and putting it back together to tide me over , but gonna buy some new ones anyway. gonna try this ultrasonic cleaner bath thing out and see how it works out on it all πŸ˜…
