Inlet manifold replacement Octavia VRS 2012 diesel and need for removing undertray
Good stuff, thanks Kev. I don't think it's a misprint in Haynes, as top cover removal is second step there. Every other step is described in detail! The only thing I can think of is that once the car is raised and undertray removed it could give additional access to some bolts that need to be undone.

Intermittent back wiper operation
I don't know about this particular motor problem/solution but I've dealt with a few circuit board problems in general (on-car and off-car). Clearly it doesn't look good but it is just possible that the components themselves are still functioning but the melted solder is causing one or more shorts. Once that starts to happen it just keeps getting worse, which would explain why it was intermittent at first. If you are good at desoldering and flow soldering, it might be worth a try? I can't guess what caused it in the first place, though.

Inlet manifold replacement Octavia VRS 2012 diesel and need for removing undertray
Hi folks, Shortly after my last post before today in spring 2024, my car [Octavia VRS 2012 diesel] developed multiple issues and I got some health issues at the same time. At the time, I had AA Home and a temporary fix done. End result being the car's been sitting on my drive for around 18 months, unused apart from the occasional start and bit of a move around in and out of my drive, and I've been unable to work on it. It's declared SORN. So it kind of works and is almost roadworthy (and might even pass MOT?) but the intake manifold is goosed and the revs won't go above about 3000rpm. I have a replacement manifold/gasket/solenoid and all the tools that I think are needed. The Haynes manual procedure is very good apart from one thing - first step is "remove the engine undertray". it doesn't explain the need or the process. From a long time searching the forums and all the www, I see nothing but difficulties waiting to happen, unless you have access to garage lifting equipment. The question: is there really a need to remove the undertray? I get that there will be some diesel spillage during the replacement but can't I stuff rags or something around the engine gaps to soak it up before it reaches the undertray? All comments appreciated, thanks!

Skoda Manuals - PDF's
Hi, sorry I never got a chance to say how much I appreciate the infos. Shortly after my post, the car developed multiple issues and I got some health issues at the same time. End result being the car's been sitting on my drive since then, unused apart from the occasional start and slow move around in my drive and I've been unable to work on it. Truly good of you, thanks!

Hiya
Thanks all, My last car, an old Citroen C4, I spent an enjoyable weekend replacing the N/S wing mirror and window drive, so know how tricky some of it can be. Three weeks later, the car shredded it's cambelt despite not (quite) being due for replacement and had to get scrapped. The joys of motoring

Hiya
Just saying hello, read a few posts - seems like a nice place to be As a first-time Skoda owner, I did a bit of a search for various things and came across BRISKODA. Pretty much fell in love with the car (Octavia VRS, 2012) on first sight & very happy with it except for the fact I seem to have destroyed the passenger window drive mechanism trying to open it when iced up a couple of months ago. Looking forward to learning/helping! Cheers, T.
