  1. Hi, how are the updates carried out? Something I can do or do I need to go to Skoda?
  2. Hi all, I’ve recently been having some strange issues with my infotainment system in my 2019 Mk3 Octavia. I pretty much only ever use it with CarPlay running Waze and some form of music/podcast app but recently the screen has been going blank and seemingly rebooting itself (though the Skoda logo doesn’t appear on screen) and once it has rebooted it fails to recognise my phone that is still connected. I end up having to disconnect the cable from both the usb port and phone before attempting to reconnect in the hope that it recognises the phone again. This works 8 time out of 10 but the other 2 times usually require me to turn off the ignition and remove the key. Sometimes this happens once in a 2 hour drive, other times within 5 mins of driving. Sometimes it doesn’t happen at all. For some context, I am using a iPhone 13, always up to date as its a work phone. No “dodgy” apps are used. Just the normal stuff like Spotify, Pocketcasts, Waze etc. The info from the infotainment system is shown below. Has anyone else had similar issues?
  3. So I popped out today and reduce the pressure in my tyres down to 32 PSI. The fronts were set to 40!! any way, the ride might feel slightly better but still not what I expected. Maybe I just have unrealistic expectations considering it’s a VAG car I just expected better but then at the same time the British roads are so bad at the moment maybe it’s just not possible to have a comfortable ride lol. I’ll will ask Skoda to inspect the suspension on the next service.
  4. 205/55/R16 94V were fitted.
  5. Just wanted to update the thread. Went to a new local garage and had a chat with them. Ended up fitting 4 new Bridgestone Turanza A005’s. Ride quality and noise levels have improved slightly but not as much as I was hoping. Though I will say that I checked what pressure they put into the tyres. They for some reason have some 37 psi in the fronts and 35psi in the rear. Is this normal? Seems strange to me. Filler cap shows 2.1 bar (30psi) to 2.4 bar (34psi).
  6. Out of curiosity what makes the Vredestein tyres excellent? And will any tyre garage happily fit tires that I bring to them rather than using their stock?
  7. Yeah I’m not convinced of the tyres on the car tbh. The front two are autogreen sportchasers but one of them has 205/55Z/R16 on them. Not sure what the Z means and the back two tyres are 1 x Goodyear and 1 x triangle sportex? they’ve all got about 4mm on them. Thinking of just replacing all 4 for some decent tyres.
  8. Hi, what do you mean by 32psi (read 35psi)?
  9. I am not sure what the pressures are at the moment. I need to go an check. I will look at the Halfords gauge and pop to a tyre pressure machine over the weekend.
  10. Hi, ride height is normal, this was purchased directly from Skoda (as a used car) but therefore I’d expect everything to be normal. Tyres are 205/55/R16 but they are all different brands if that matters? Looking at the filler cap the pressures for my tyres say 2.1 bar front and back for the lowest load (it only tends to be me on the car ) which equates to around 30psi. Pretty sure they are all higher than that but I’d have to check. regarding the shocks / dampers. If they make the car a firmer ride then why are there many people mentioning the VW Golf Mk7 dampers improving the ride quality?
  11. Morning all, my 19 plate 1.0 TSi Octavia is surprisingly bumpy and feels a lot more than I was expecting from a VAG car. I appreciate that the British roads are worse than ever but sometimes I’m shocked at the rough ride of the car. So who of you on the forums have tried changing the shocks on the car? And if so, what shocks did you go with? VW Golf? Bilstein? Some other brand? And how did the ride quality change, assuming it did at all?
  12. Edit to this. I don’t mean S mode. I mean manual mode or M mode. I’ve never actually tried S mode! I’m guessing that’s just a sport version of D mode?
  13. So just a quick update on this. I have asked Skoda to go to the fleet company who had the car and get the service history for me which they have agreed to do. I’ve tried using S mode to down shift into 2nd gear when approaching junctions and/or islands and the gear responds lovely. I’ve realised that when the gearbox is in D mode and I try to apply pressure to the throttle, the lack of response seems to be because the car hasn’t down shifted quick enough as I was slowing up to the junction/island. Similarly I noticed that it wants to try and get up to 7th gear asap. Sometimes I can be steadily accelerating up to 40 and it will already be in 6th or 7th by the time I reach 40. All shifts are smooth, but it’s just something I have noticed. I also tried the “DSG resets” you can find in YouTube but to be honest it didn’t change a thing.
  14. Thanks everyone. I’ve been for a drive today and it does seem like the issue for me is not applying enough pressure on the accelerator to get the car to downshift and accelerate. I will try and find some service information on the car. Failing that I may just take it to have a full service, get everything ticked off and then work from the graphics you guys have supplied. Out of curiosity, do you all go direct to Skoda for servicing or do you have garages you trust/have used previously to do the work?
  15. My understanding is that this was a former fleet car which generally have to be well maintained with manufacturers recommended servicing. I’ll chase Skoda and see if they have any other info. Why this stuff isn’t all digital like mots nowadays is beyond me. Out of curiosity how do you know my DSG gearbox is a DQ200?
  16. Hi, I don’t know about the service history specifically. It’s got full service history but I don’t know what was done. Skoda claimed they also serviced it for me but they didn’t supply me any service documentation. I asked them about DSG servicing but they claimed it’s not like the earlier models that needed doing every 40,000. My car has done 50,000 miles so far. I haven’t tried moving it into S but will give it a go. I the car has been sat at Skoda since around February. I drove it home which was around 70miles.
  17. Hi, yes I should have mentioned the engine. It’s the 1.0 Tsi
  18. Hi all, recently picked up a 2019 Octavia from a Skoda Dealer in Wolverhampton. I drove it home to Nottingham and it was a lovely drive. One thing that caught be out a couple of times though and I wanted to ask if it is normal or not. so when for example, when I am coming up to a junction slowly on the accelerator, I lift off of the accelerator to slow down and take a look left and right. I see no traffic in either direction and so I apply a small amount of pressure back onto the accelerator to pull out and continue my journey. Problem is, when I apply the pressure back to the accelerator the car doesn’t respond, for like 1 second or so there is no power and the car is just rolling, then all of a sudden the car springs into life and starts to accelerate. This has caught me out a couple of times and I fear that it could actually be quite dangerous. Is this normal behaviour? Do I just have to apply more pressure back onto the accelerator? Any help/advice would be great. I do have a 12 month warranty with Skoda but ideally don’t want it going back in already. I have read about resetting the DSG gearbox. Is this worthwhile? kind regards Kyle
