  1. Just had a reply from my MP Karen Bradley who contacted the Department of Transport about the TMC problem we are all having. This reply is from the Minister for Roads and Local Transport Richard Holden. I understand that my colleagues at The Department of Culture, Media and Sport have spoken to Ofcom who license broadcasting radio services, to get more information on what might be behind this issue. The traffic data is provided as an additional service over broadcast radio frequencies (in particular facilitated by Global through their local FM transmitter network and over the Classic FM frequency). However the practical arrangements through which this takes place are between the data provider (Trafficmaster/Teletrac Newman) and individual vehicle manufacturers. You will need to speak to your vehicle manufacturer in the first instance to see whether they are able to offer a solution to this issue. As expected they are as much use as a chocolate raincoat and do not wish to get involved.😡😡😡
  2. My post was about MMI3G B for which I doubt there is a solution. I don't have or know anyone with VCDS so cannot have a look.
  3. From what I have read on here the answer is no. The maps only contain location tables for Trafficmaster and not INRIX. It seems that you can alter the TMC provider to INRIX but because there are no matching location tables any traffic information shown is wildly inaccurate. Probably the same with my MMI3G B unit as the maps will contain Trafficmaster location tables.
  4. Anyone know if there is a way of getting an Audi MMI3G B unit to receive INRIX traffic?
  5. Had a reply from my MP who is going to forward my Email to the Department of Transport.
  6. I pretended I was interested in a 2018 Audi A6 from my local main dealer. Emailed them about it asking about the RDS-TMC feature on the car. Guess what - no reply.
  7. Just found this post on the VWAF Forum. I don't know if he is correct and cannot check as my MMI3G green menu is not active and I do not have a VCDS or OBD11.
  8. They will do nothing until it is more widely known about. The only way that will happen is if us on here keep trying to get it into the news.
  9. Just sent this to my local Tory MP Karen Bradley. Dear Karen. As my local MP I wondered if you could assist in any way with this matter. There used to be two providers of RDS-TMC traffic information for the UK. They were Trafficmaster which used to send information via FM radio stations such as Heart and Capitol with the other being INRIX which still sends information via Classic FM. This is a very useful service for motorists as even vehicles that receive on line traffic information can use the RDS-TMC service in areas of poor reception. Trafficmaster closed down their service at the end of March this year. They supplied Traffic information to vehicle owners of the VW Group, Honda and many more manufacturers. This means that the system commonly called Dynamic Navigation no longer informs drivers of traffic hold ups, road works or accidents etc. As the system no longer works it does not suggest another route to the driver avoiding these incidents which can only lead to longer journey times and of course more emissions from the engines. I own an Audi A6 and along with many others have been told by VAG Group that they have no plans to either reinstate the Trafficmaster service or to switch to the still operative INRIX service which I believe will be providing the data for at least another eight years. I find this decision to be very poor both in terms of customer relations and of course the environmental issues it is certain to cause. I have added a link to an internet forum used by Skoda owners (part of the VAG Group) where you will observe the problem being discussed by many Skoda and owners of other makes of car which are affected by the Trafficmaster shutdown. The problem is also discussed on other forums but this one is the most in depth and populated by lots of unhappy owners who feel their needs are now being completely ignored by the various manufacturers whose vehicles are affected. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/512443-tmc-traffic-events-no-longer-being-receivedfirmware-update-required/
  10. I have been looking at Merc's and Volvo's as my next car, VAG can go do one!!
  11. Any idea if a fix could be applied to an Audi MMI3G B unit. Maps are on SD cards.
  12. Yes Graham the Tom Tom is a more accurate system paired with a smart phone. I my case the old Trafficmaster was good enough and was part of the navigation unit built into the car. I own neither a smart phone or a Tom Tom and do not want to go back to having things stuck to my dashboard which I have to remove when leaving the car for fear of having them stolen.
  13. Similar to the reply I got from Audi. They certainly could do something about it but would rather you purchased a new car as there is money in it for them.
  14. Just sent this to an Audi main dealer pretending to be interested in a car. My last four cars have been Audi and I am considering purchasing another one between 2016 and 2018 Reg. However on my present car the Dynamic Navigation - RDS-TMC feature stopped working at the end of March because the supplier Trafficmaster turned off the service. This affects all VAG Group cars in the UK using RDS=TMC and I wondered if Audi VW were going to switch to the still functioning INRIX RDS-TMC broadcast over Classic FM. I ask this because I do not want to spend many thousands of pounds on a newer vehicle only to find I need to use another device such as phone or Garmin Sat Nav to receive RDS-TMC traffic information.
  15. Just sent this to Audi Genuine Accessories who sell the new maps. Let's see what they have to say. I was considering updating my Audi A6 maps to the latest 4G0060884AN version as I am at the moment running the 4G0060884AK ones. However I have noticed that as from the end of March this year Trafficmaster turned off their RDS-TMC services and as a result I and many thousands of Audi and other VAG Group vehicle owners now have a non functioning Dynamic Navigation feature leaving us unaware of hold ups and with no rerouting from the navigation unit to avoid them. I find this feature which was turned off with no notification to owners extremely useful and would like to know if their are any plans to replace it with the INRIX RDS-TMC service which will continue to operate over Classic FM for at least another eight years. If this is the case new maps containing the INRIX location tables and maybe a firmware update will need to be issued. This is a UK only problem which renders the Dynamic Navigation feature useless on our vehicles and it would be pointless for me to spend 199 Euro on new maps with non functioning RDS-TMC. Please advise.
