Car Locking by Itself
Hi, my recently widowed daughter with 2 kids (3 and 6) got locked out of their 21 plate Octavia FE SEL in the middle of Argyllshire, Scotland, by KESSY. They stranded in an adhoc layby on the Main route to Oban where heavy trucks etc passed them at speed. They got out of the car, shut doors and realised that the keys were inside, so tried to open doors within (10 seconds) and the car locked everything. AA were useless and never turned up 5 hours later, even although they were a 'Priority' case. I ended up driving from Glasgow and breaking the window to get into the car. Kids and daughter were frozen, traumatised and scared stiff by the whole ordeal as Logging and ferry trucks sped passed the within 2 m of them. That car has been OK since but if you do have to break a window to get access DO NOT break the small rear side window as it is part of the door seal and can only be supplied by SKODA factory and that takes 3 weeks. My 22 plate Octavia SEL has hiccupped a couple of times when the KESSY system refused to recognise that the key was in the car and it would not start, and on another ocassion would lock but not unlock. I heard of a case in Australia where a family were locked out of their SKODA with the keys in the car. Any similar KESSY 'lock out' stories, and what is the route cause of the car locking people out when KESSY keys are still in the car?????

Anyone actually happy with their MK4? 😂
Hi, Where do I start...... Firstly, the 'Driver (suicide) Assist' package on my 2022 SEL is down right dangerous. 1) I've had the brakes slammed on for no reason other than I was driving through an motorway intersection where 2 motorways meet with no vehicles near mine. 2) Brakes slammed on when a substantial (safe) distance from the car in front - on a number of ocassions. 3) Car has followed joins / seams in road surface and not the road itself, causing prompt correction required by the driver (me). 4) Adaptive Cruise Control does not always detect that a lane change has taken place when overtaking the slower vehicle in front - abruptly slowing my car, and all the others behind me down to the same speed as the slow vehicle in the inside lane. 5) inane messages appear on screen for such a short time that they cannot be read - there to distract drive only, no other purpose. 6) Useless messages telling me to hold the steering wheel when I already am holding the steering wheel, and various other useless messages the pop up for a couple of seconds - just to distract the driver, no other purpose. That rant over. Next rant... Infotainment Centre randomly forgets radio station and selects the least liked station instead. Driving Mode selected must be re entered each time the car is driven - does not remember desired setting - unless that setting is 'normal'. 7) A/C changes the setting when it wants to change it. 8} I don't like that the ACC does not switch OFF when dropping down to a lower gear to approach a junction - it just stays at the same speed, in a lower gear at higher revs. 9) To adjust the ACC speed the switch has to be pushed in a different direction to that indicated on the control adjustment stalk and in the manual. 10) I previously owned from new a 2013 Rapid Liftback SE and can confirm that the boot storage space in the mk IV Octavia is muh less than the Liftback Rapid - which had a large storage space in with the spare wheel. Nothing like it in the Octvaia. Its so easy to see why Skoda killed off the Liftback Rapid as it was such a good all round car. Do I really need my headlights ON most of the day? - really???. ALSO beware that the bootlid on the saloon protrudes possibly more than the rear bumper. I expect many drivers will damage their bootlids in time. Car has been back to Dealers 3 times within 2 months to resolve all these 'issues' - which I'm informed by them are all working fine. Apart from those things listed its a great car to drive, and even safer to drive when there is heavy snow falling as the Driver (suicide) Assist cannot work when covered in snow. Good fuel consumption from a petrol engine. Comfortable drive, seats and package. Skoda would have been better to update the Liftback Rapid than hash the Octavia. Note:- I also previously owned from new a 2013 MKII Octavia 'Lauren Bacall' Estate for a few years, and the MKIV is not as good.
