There are 2 different MIB2 units fitted to the Golf. On your unit press and hold the menu button for a few seconds, now press the software update/version button. Look at the installed SW train version, this will tell you which unit you have. if it starts with MST2 and ends with T, MST2_EU_VW_XX_XXXXT, then you have a MIB2 Technisat unit and the patch should work, if it ends in D you have a Delphi unit and the patch will not work.

The V12 maps, both modified and unmodified work on both units, it is just the Delphi that the tmc does not work with. Both units are fitted to 2016 Golfs, manufactured a month apart. Both units have the same part number 3Q0035874A, and both have the FEC's 00040100 - navigation and 09400008 - maps VW Mib2 Std EU.

I have 2 Mib2 standard units, mst2 nav, one is a Technisat and the other Delphi. The V12 map and using table 1023 works for the Technisat but not the Delphi, I'm assuming that the Delph uses the cfg_customer_update.tar.gz in the cfg dir for the configuration and this has not been modified. I'm unable to confirm as I cannot extract the config file.
