  1. Just looked at that again, sadly there is no mention of the front parking assist system, just the rear. I'm now wondering if I need to get under the car to see if the front parking assist is OEM or aftermarket... 😕
  2. Fantastic, thanks Cairus, I'll go check that now 👍
  3. Quick question for those of you having the OBDeleven tool... I have a malfunctioning front parking sensor which beeps whenever I brake or slow down... I suspect it's one of the nearside ones as that side of the car got a bit of a whipping from long grass when we were on holiday recently. I've had a look at my OBDeleven but I couldn't see anything relating to the front sensors. I was wondering if any of you can point me in the right direction? Thanks as always 👍
  4. After dithering for many months, I finally bought my first Skoda - a 2014 Octavia 2.0 TDI 4x4 "Tour de France" special edition. High mileage at 140k, but a single lady owner, lots of history, and the car is as new. Absolutely amazing condition . Just thought I'd introduce myself as I'm sure to be asking for advice soon! First step will be to get it serviced, including the haldex, then a set of new all season tyres. I'll post some pics after collecting it.
  5. Hi all, I'm considering buying this VRS - it has a BriskSkoda sticker on the back - does anyone know anything about it? I'm strangely attracted to this bumble bee Thanks!
  6. Hi all, A very brief intro. I'm Sam from Doncaster in Yorkshire. I'm considering buying an Octavia (possibly TSI or VRS) and have spent many hours reading various discussions here - all very informative thanks! My conclusion is that some engines are better than others, and the 'safest' one in my £4-5k budget is possibly the petrol 2.0TSI BWA (cambelt) engined one. As it happens, I've found one in a whacky 'sprint yellow' It has a BriskSkoda sticker on the back - does anyone know anything about it? I'm strangely attracted to this bumble bee Thanks!
  7. Hi all, my first post so apologies for getting straight down to business. In short I am looking for a nice Octavia to replace a 27 year old Volvo 940 Don't laugh, that car only has a documented 62k miles up and its in museum condition. It is however, too thirsty to use for commuting, which is where the Octavia comes in. As Sheffield is implementing a ULEZ zone. I'll be limited to petrol engines, and as I'd like at least 150bhp that means a 1.8 or 2.0. The 2.0 seems to be made of jelly, so I'm looking primarily at 1.8s... I've seen a lovely 2011 reg Octavia 1.8TSI 4x4 for sale which has 90k miles recorded. Its in mint condition and looks like a cracking car... now I have read about the timing chain and oil consumption issues so I'm not going in blind, however I'm wondering how prevalent the oil consumption issue is? I'll be replacing the timing chain as soon as I buy the car as it seems a sensible precaution. Is there anything I need to be wary of re the 4x4 system - its a manual gearbox car. Finally, has anyone had the timing chain kit replaced recently? If so, how much did it cost - I'm assuming you can only buy the revised parts now? Thanks for all advice received - I have read quite a few threads here but just wanted some up to date info, particularly re the prices.
