Boot Storage
Which would be why he suggested googling the part number. I did try that but couldn't find anything UK. I'm not unduly bothered as am not sure how much use it would be. Was just my curiosity getting the better of me. Don't think it would be worth the postage cost from the initial link but will be keeping an eye out.

Thanks for that.

Boot Storage
Ah .... spoilsports! I thought this looked like an interesting little piece of kit so started to watch the post for someone to tell me what it is called and where I could get one ..... then you did a secret deal! I then searched through a Skoda accessories site which seemed to have everything from mats to boot liners to luggage nets .... but no sign of a little bendy plastic thingy!

Airbag Recall
Thanks for that link toot. Mine comes up clear.

Curious?
It shows a graphic of a sliding scale labeled Gals/hour. Makes me wonder if this is an estimate of extra fuel consumption if you have A/C turned on? And what would be the point in such?

Curious?
My next subject of curiosity is .... when scrolling through the trip details menu of Time elapsed; MPG used; mileage, etc, there is one about Air-con that I don't understand. Can anyone explain? Nothing I can find in the Handbook about it.

Curious?
Does seem rather strange terminology! To me, to drive effectively with "neither the accelerator nor the brake depressed" would only be possible with Cruise Control (which my trim level doesn't have). So, in essence this "neutral" driving could only ever happen for extremely short distances.

Curious?
You are quite right, sir. It still makes no mention of the Eco symbol that comes up. The big problem I find with the user manual is that it covers all version in the range so, quite often, you see things that don't apply to your articular trim level.

Curious?
Hello folks, Getting into the feel of things now with 150 miles, mainly tootling around town. Something caught my eye a couple of times and am looking to you knowledgeable folks to tell me the story. Noticing the gear indicator on the driver display going through the numbers (D4, D5, etc ) I am sometimes seeing it simply go to D, with no number, on which a wee green ECO symbol pops up at the bottom of the display. Please explain how this happens without me doing something to cause it, and what it means. Thanks.

New Fabia noise query
All I can say is that I have had my Fabia SE Comfort, on 15" wheels, for just over a week and am really surprised at how quiet everything is about it.

Thank you but I won't sign up for something that has to be paid for without knowing how much ..... maybe I'm just old-fashioned?

Nice one to remember. Thanks.

Yes. Finding my feet today and getting into a habit of setting off in S then once up to speed knocking it back to D. The actions of making these changes are just so easy and intuitive. Nice touch of user friendly design, methinks.

Had a better trip out today. Only 30-ish miles but a decent mix of A road and Motorway gave me a reasonable overview of performance and comfort levels. No problem getting gear 7 on this run. (thank you toot) and could certainly notice a difference between D and S modes. Not sure what it means to MPG, whether S mode is less frugal or not. All told, a very smooth and comfortable ride. I reckon we are going to get on very well.

Once again, I bow to your greater knowledge, sir. There is NO mention at all in my car documentation or specification sheet of which gearbox it is other than DSG. As I have only had it for a day and a half and not even been out of town yet I have only seen the gear indicator go up to 6 and I was told by the dealer that it was a 6 speed box! Just been doing a more comprehensive online search and am very pleased to see that you are quite right. Saves me a bit of concern over servicing and look forward to a trip out tomorrow to actually see if that indicator goes up to 7. THIS is exactly why I love user forums. Thank you again.

Thank you for that information. Very helpful but muddies the waters even more. There is nothing in my documentation that tells me if the gearbox is DQ200, which needs no maintenance, but the chart you have attached has that DQ200 as 7 speed. Mine is 6 speed so would more likely be the DQ250 or DQ400, which do need oil changes at 4 and 8 years. How can I find out which it is? THIS is the sort of information that used to be available in the owners handbooks that I am used to and should be freely available.

Which is exactly why I raised this point. I will, when it comes to service time request a printed record but I would really like to be able to find the actual Service Schedule for each year so I know what to expect. I feel this is an important piece of information for the owner. Example being that (so I have read) the DSG auto box needs particular attention in certain year cycles and I would like to be aware of when. I would have thought there should be some place online that an owner could access for this type of information.

Starting to settle in now and am looking for more of that elusive information. Being an old fashioned sort I've always been used to having a great fat chunk of handbook which has service records and servicing schedules. I realise that these days the records are Digital but can anyone tell me how the car owner can access these digital records? Also, is there any way to access or download actual service schedules that would tell me exactly what needs checking on each service year? This is something that was always in an owners handbook and would be needed if, for example, I wanted to do my own servicing or take it to an independent garage. I will be asking for this information next time I go to the dealer but thought someone here might know how to get this information. Thanks.

Well, I don't even have that wee cubby-hole in the door, which is why I wondered. Anyway, as it happens, the nice young lady from the dealership rang me today on a follow-up to see if all was well with the car so I did mention the umbrella. Her response was that they don't always put them in the same place. Could be under a seat or in the boot. When I said there was nothing anywhere she replied that, if I call in next time I'm passing she will give me one as we do get far too much rain in this area so it should be quite essential. Wasn't that nice? :))

Mk4 Fabia Owners Register
Count me in. Just picked up my 23 plate Fabia SE Comfort DSG auto in Graphite Grey. (8 miles on the clock) Short drive home and a quick check around things and all seems well. Looking forward to giving it a good test out.

Collected the car today. Quick check over and a short drive home and am comfortably impressed. Will report back in a few days when I've had time to sort through all the menus and get a proper feel of it. I know I made a joke of the mention of 'the umbrella' being a selling point but ...... can't find one or even where it would go! Shock .... have the discontinued umbrellas because of global warming or because I have bought a Skoda?

Update. Collection booked for next Thursday. Paperwork all sorted and interim insurance (to replace the remainder of my current policy) set up. As I will now be an active member here I feel that I should point out that, after a response to my post last week, I phoned up Adrian Flux company for a quote. They say competitive prices for 'older drivers and forum members' but, in the final analysis, the quote I got was almost double the quotes I got from the usual online comparison sites. So .... only thing outstanding now seems to be sourcing a reasonable price spare wheel. Any offers considered for either a space saver or a real one available in my area (North-East).

Pity. Seeing as most of the taxi drivers round here drive Skodas I need to find one who is taking a long distance fare down to your area and get him to do the drop .... see ... optimism in full flood. :)) Not in a hurry, anyway.
