  1. HI all, is there anyone out there who can shed some more light on this non working rear wiper. Last year I did ask around if anyone had a wiring diagram so I could at least chase its route thru the car to enable me to find its end point. I know it probably ends in the fuse/relay area, but cant trace it to any of the muliple relays found. Did ask is the 577 relay anything to do with it...........yes I have checked all the fuses but all good.........its just that I want to establish is it a relay or the column stalk, before I go down the route of removing air bag, covers and finaly the actual wiper stalk assy. Weather is getting bad now and need the rear wiper to work so i can see the rear etc. Please anyone ....................... ps. xman have tried your link but puter says its a threat double ps.......just thinking out loud tho, the wiper wiring might not be run by a relay as I did find a lot of electronic wizidary , chip etc in the small black control box on the side of the wiper assy. Maybe it is the stalk after all, when its giving the input to the wiper. Are the stalks able to be stripped and taken apart, clean contats etc like the old school ways? Or will I have to buy a new one..ouch !! A mighty big thanks in advance.
  2. HI ECR7, and all responding to this thread. I too have this same problem but have still not worked out the problem of the wiper not working. if you dont mind I would like to follow this thread just in case anyone finds the fault............................kind regards
  3. hi all, excuse the brief title but dont know how or what to add to it to describe the ongoing problem. Started to happen a few months ago where the glow plug light would come on and find that No 1 injector had failed. Rough running , no acceleration etc. Cant have surely as only 20k miles old. Reset the fault and car now drives as it should. Driven about 100 miles and it goes again. Reset the fault code etc etc.......this has been happening now for a few months now. No other fault codes to suggest anything else. So question is , is there a sensor anywhere that may be linked, maybe a cam / crank snsor that is telling just No1 inj to quit ?
  4. hi all, does the 377 relay power only the front wiper or does it power the rear wiper as well. I know there are some intricate components inside the rear wiper unit but cant test these myself. Still cant get the rear to work . ( doin me edd in )........... Did ask where the loom from the left rear ends up in the front as need to check its continuity. ......................regards
  5. Hi All, for a few weeks now the rear wiper has stopped working. I changed it being the most simple method first. Still not working, Water pump works as that is done down by the front washer bottle in the wheel arch. Took all the rear trim off to find there are 2 block connections in under the rear left panel,( black and cream colour ) just near the corner rear bumper bolts. Have continuity tested from motor plug to these connectors and all are good, ie no breaks in the wire loom that feeds thru rear hatch to bodywork. Sometimes they chaffe or split here due to opening and closing over the years. There was no sign of this wear. Have checked fuses in right front dashboard, again all Ok. My question is, where does the wiper wiring loom go to ? Where does it end up ? I could continuity test from end to end to see if there are any breaks along the way. I have suspected the actual wiper switch control arm, TubyYou,d it to find that you have to remove the airbag, steering wheel etc. Its not beyond my remit but would like to eliminate the stuff inbetween first. ................................mega thanks all.
  6. HI All, bit of an update on the ongoing MAF sensor problem. Its still making itself known all the time while what I consider normal driving. So on the weekend I needed to drive to my local airport to drop of my BIL etc. Literally 5 mins into the journey it comes on. Now what I consider normal driving is changing down the gears and gently braking until you have to slow down or stop. It comes on when doing this. And driving down a hill where you just throttle off and let the car roll, after 10 seconds of doing this it comes on. Fast forward to the journey home circa 50 miles. Instead of changing down the gears I take it out of gear and coast, either until I need to engage a gear or come to a stop. Done this at every opportunity and low and behold it didnt happen once. Just a mile from the house comes a long hill so kept it in 5th and throttle off letting it roll and 10secs later on it comes. ( did not touch the brake ) What the hecky peck is going on.Trying to get my head around this. Any sugestions guys ..................
  7. Hi All, as title says, am having some MAF sensors probs. Flashing coil light comes up a few weeks ago so got the code. P0101 coming up as Mass or Volume air flow sensor"A" circuit range. So removed and used correct mass cleaner . Nothing changed. Bit the bullet and bought a new genuine replacement. Ah bugger, still no change as coming up with same code. It seems to come on but only my imagination about 10 secs after a throttle off scenario eg going down a long hill. This led me to small bleed off of vacuum maybe ? Have had all vacuum pipes off-all OK ........... as to the best of my ability the associated wiring to the MAF, one 3 pin push fit connector etc. Air filter pipework with 5000 mile filter, concertina duct to turbo. Still no luck. I take it that the MAF is only a flow come temp sensor sending its findings to the ECU. Its obviuosly finding something outside of its parameters. But what / where. Does anyone have any more suggestions for me to check please ? kind regards............. Octavia MK2 - 1.6tdi Cr with CAYC engine.
  8. hi pete, checked as much as I can, still no damage to wire or connection. Would take it apart and have a look at the wiper track assy but dont want to tempt fate
  9. hi , my code is P0123 - throttle / pedal position sensor - A ciruit high. Managed to remove the pedal to retrieve part number = 1K2 721 503 AE ( early 2011 yr of man ) Sorry for another question. The part number I can get is an AJ, I take it that the difference is only in the J as this is a later version , so both are able to fit, am i right ?
  10. big thank you to you all , its been very enlightening. So new throttle pedal on the cards then, but which one - a HELLA or an INTERMOTOR ????
  11. hi J.R........... to me this is a revalation I will never look at a diesel engine in the same way again. I have automatically believed they are exact to a petrol. MAF throttle body and an ECU to injectors etc. Thank you. J.R how do you know all this stuff ?
  12. hi, yes I do know you come to mention it. Well, well, well. So when you see so many Youtubers cleaning the throttle body, all that they are doing is cleaning the judder valve. Of course cleaning is the way to go but nothiing to do with the engine revs. Am I right in thinking that all diesels would go full on if not controlled. You learn something everyday.....LOL Anyway, so what does control the engine when you drive ? Is it the electronic throttle pedal/actuator, if so i been barking up the wrong tree all this time. Will have look a removal for a genuine part number. p.s see how I feel as 2 hrs ago tested positive for Covid, my first one
  13. So, as title says which is it, Have cleaned mine and all pipes but now has now come back with the flashing glow plug. If it is a throttle body why denote as an anti shudder valve. As in virtually all pics and parts sellers describe it a a throttle body. Which is the actual pce of equipment that makes the engine rev anyway...............................thanks.
  14. Anyway, a quick question regarding the throttle body. If I was to remove it, clean it and check it for gear or spindle wear, on refitting would I still have to use a VCDS to pair it to the ECU at all. Or as its compatible could I just refit it and it will work. ....................thanks Obviously it might not be this but as always its a trial and error, suck it and see, substitution method before i invest in an OEM part.
