Also, faulty towbar electrics can cause PDC issues.

I had the PDC issue and it was fixed by the dealership in January 2025 with a TPI software patch that was released in December 2024. This work was carried out before the OTA 1985 software update was done. Maybe worth asking if your vehicle has had this TPI implemented before replacing the battery or sensors. Prior to the TPI being actioned the dealership was chasing (for several months) a poptentially high current draw from the battery, which was suspectedly caused by the infotainment display not going to sleep when the vehicle was switched off. The battery, alternator and infotainment display were all changed to reduce current draw but this didn't help the PDC issue. I believe my PDC problems started with a previous software update (1981 from memory), but the dealership didn't wan't to consider this. Switching on the ignition a few seconds before clutching and cranking the engine also worked for me and others. The dealership's technician told me that the TPI mentioned this sequencing. If all relevant software patches have definitely been done and fault persists, then I'd personally be checking the battery condition or battery current draw in standby mode (if possible), before replacing all sensors. Has a load test been done on the battery? Might not be of any help, but the attached scope plot shows my new 59Ah battery terminal voltage dipping to around 8.3V from 12.2V during cold cranking. I only experienced the PDC issue during colder conditions.

Octavia MK4 2022, tail lights and park sensor problems
Skoda released a software update in December 2024 to fix the intermittent parking distance control (PDC) error, which occurs more often during cold weather.

The Skoda dealer applied a TPI software update to my vehicle 3 weeks ago to rectify the PDC issue. I don't have any other info, but assume PDC unit upgraded to SW581/582, as mentioned above by andreiro221). I've not experienced any PDC errors since. I also had an OTA update a couple of weeks ago for the MIB - now on version SW1985.

Skoda recently released a software update to fix the PDC issue. My car had the update done last week by the dealership - so far so good. An OTA MIB software update is pending to fix some instability issues with the infotainment system.

Park Distance Control very intermittent
My intermittent PDC error returned about 4 weeks after the dealership replaced the infotainment display unit, battery and alternator, and updated the software to 1969. The fault is still occurring more frequently during cold weather. The battery terminal voltage dips to 8.4V during cold cranking, which seems acceptable. Anyone else still having the same PDC issue or had it fixed by the dealership?

Park Distance Control very intermittent
My PDC issue was eventually diagnosed by the dealership as a faulty infotainment display unit, which was intermittently draining the battery with the ignition switched off.

The replacement alternator did not fix my PDC (battery discharging) issue, as previously reported. The fault is still under investigation by the dealership - I'm now expecting a software update, possibly to 1969.

I'm surprised that your 1941 update was done over-the-air - I was told that my car had to go into the dealership for this update, but that was August 2023. The Skoda dealership has had my car for the past 4 weeks, investigating the PDC issue, which has been ongoing for 6 months. The root cause has now been traced to a faulty alternator, which is draining the battery somewhat when the ignition is off. This is causing the PDC system to lock out when the engine is cranking, due to an undervoltage condition, and happens more frequently during cold conditions, as expected. So far, Skoda is not attributing my PDC issues to the 1941 update. I believe that all sorts of electronic issues can arise if the battery voltage is too low, especially during cranking, but seems like you've got something else going on with your vehicle.

Thanks for your replies. I'm now thinking that the PDC could be malfunctioning due to a brownout condition in some electronic circuit, caused by a normal drop in battery voltage during vehicle cranking. The voltage drop would be made worse by cold conditions/battery somewhat discharged/unhealthy battery. Initialising the PDC before starting the vehicle should get around this, as we have seen. I'm not saying that the issue isn't somehow related to software as I also started experiencing the problem a few weeks after getting the 1941 upgrade - a parameter migh have been changed, or a supply line sequenced differently, which is making the system more sensitive to battery voltage dips. Just a thought at this stage.

Is anyone else still experiencing this intermittent PDC error or had it fixed by Skoda? It's still a problem on my car, but seems less frequent now during warmer weather. I've done OBDeleven dignostics scans and periodically get two trouble codes for Parking Assistance: "Null - Unknown (intermittent)" and "B10FCF0 - Front park assist sensors function limitation due to environmental influences (intermittent)" The Skoda dealer is still investigating the issue after several months.

It's been working for me too over the past week.

I was hit with the same PDC issue a few weeks after getting the 1941 software update in September 2023. I provided the Skoda dealer with video evidence of the fault when the car went in for diagnostics testing last month however, as it came back with no relevant diagnostic trouble codes present, they were initially unwilling to investigate it further. The car is now booked into one of their other branches for an extended investigation in April and I'll make the dealer aware of this forum as they don't seem to have any knowledge of this issue. I maintained a detailed log over several weeks in January and the fault doesn't appear to be related to faulty parking sensors, environmental conditions, or battery voltage. The fault mainly appears when starting the vehicle from cold, however I did observe it a few times immediately after switching the engine off-on at normal operating temperature. On the instrument cluster I get the "Manoeuvre braking currently unavailable" message showing briefly at engine switch on (white text), and the "Error: Park Distance Control" (yellow text) message when putting the car into gear or pressing the Park Assist button. The fault is also reported by the infotainment system under vehicle->status - the error is incremented each time park assist is engaged (max = 3). I changed the startup sequence this morning as described by ALBACORE and the error didn't appear - will try again over the coming days.
