  1. Well thats cheered me up no end! Thanks! So.. excuse the ignorance, i’ve read conflicting infos… when you unlock.. is that it or does it need unlocking for everytime you do something? Off to go check this shizzle out.. i’d love to stick it to skoda and get my brakes done cheaper lolol
  2. i'm quickly falling out of love with Skoda lol.. i decided to pop in to my local dealership and asked if they could explain what SFD lock was as i'd been told my rear brakes couldnt be replaced because of it... also explained that the same garage had two other octavias in - younger than my 70plate - both had electronic handbrake - and that there was no lock on theirs.... initially service reception said the garage didnt have the correct software - so i explained again - three octavias - mine was the only one locked.. so they reluctantly went to get a mechanic to explain it as i requested.... no mech came back with them - just some blatant lie.... "no-one has ever heard of SFD lock, there will be something wrong with your car.."
  3. So does it need a code from skoda to do that if its showing as locked or is it just an option? Latest garage i went to (also a registered MOT station) say they dont often see it locked but its the dealers to do it? If so, is that a code i can purchase do you know? And if so, is it a lifetime purchase or just for that one action? I’ve not had chance to look into the obd11 side of things apart from when i borrowed a friends dongle to look around when i first got the car in 2024 but i couldnt really get it to do anything?
  4. Hive mind… what are my options for getting modules unlocked? I’ve been to three garages now, all who say they have kit/ability to wind the motors back on rear calipers.. but each time they then turn around and say sorry, SFD lock!! All garages have quoted between £250 and £280 to do both pads and discs…. A tad different to the £584 i’m quoted at Skoda.. Is it because i’m still in (the arse end) of a service plan or is it skoda being dicks and keeping a monopoly on who can do what?
  5. So.. update on this as it may help someone.. as i have a couple of years warranty left on mine, i enquired at skoda garage because: radio was getting too frisky and turning on even on cooler days when car was parked up. when driving you would on occasion have to battle with the infotainment using the steering wheel volume control to turn it down. managed on most occasions to get videos of it happening and i think the winner was that you could hear the ‘touch’ clicks as it was ramping the volume up or randomly selecting things which made me think it was more mechanical than software.. took a month to get an appointment but all credit to the dealership - they said as soon as they saw the vids that they agreed it was a physical thing and liaised with Skoda head honchos to get it replaced.. initially they were saying it would be software but as mentioned, the hearing of the clicks was a clincher to change their minds.. so if you have this issue and you have some sort of warranty on the car, get vids of it and make sure you can hear the clicks. not a single issue since they replaced the unit.. i’ve not checked what software/hardware revisions it has now compared to previous but i can check and post if need be.
  6. I think we’re on the same page here.. it threw a hissy fit today with the random on off on satnav off on radio off welcome screen off on apple car play etc..but could also hear the touch tones as it did it so i’m wondering if its something expanding inside and causing ghost presses for the screen and touch strip etc.. i did the same as i was doing some project work at work in a secure compound so i left windows half down and covered the infotainment unit with a folded fleece too i had in the boot.. it seemed to insulate it enough from the direct sun for today at least.
  7. So this has happened to me twice today, and yes making me real popular with the neighbours too lol.. hardware H56 software 1969 (dealer update) 70plate yup its a hot sunny day.. half 5 and currently 24 degrees.. but we’ve had hotter earlier this week and its not happened. was there any fix found for this?
  8. Factory.. although i’ve not had the car quite from new so dont know if its ever worked but it IS listed in its specs. strange that you cant use it if you have rear wash wipe though.
  9. Yeah. It’s an Estate and that bit works fine.. but i would have thought if you had the nozzle AND the on screen button to use it, it should work… why is that not the case? Do you know?
  10. Mine is an early mk4 with camera and wash.. although everytime i go into settings and try to use the wash it says ‘not available’ or something similar. where do i go to check my vin for the part required?
  11. Oh.. and i tried to search it before i posted too.. sorry! so, that explains why the wire looks like it has a bare wire wrapping around the outside of it then does it? I thought it was a poor attempt at reinforcing it.
  12. I’ve been out looking like a lunatic with no control over his legs.. then my neighbour came out and asked if i’d lost my football lol.. didnt see the other comment.. alas i can confirm it’s not a boot opener.
  13. Hello.. first proper post for a newbie owner.. So.. after almost a month after i bought it, i finally have the Octavia SE L First Edition estate after The dealership have finally managed to fix the inability to sign in issue (numerous updates from 1941 onwards to eventually 1969 (which their service manager swore blind did not exist) as well as ‘deep fault finding’ in the MIB?? Unit which apparently ended up being wiped and reinstalled???) main thing is i can now sign in AND the SOS pop is so far fixed… apologies.. excited waffle going on.. so… while giving it a bit of a clean and vac out in places you figure a dealership wouldnt check… i found a green cable in the tyre well that ive not fully investigated yet, but i’m thinking its not standard… goes along rear edge of tyre well from the left to right with a square of silver tape?? Terminating it on the right.. thought i’d post a few pics in case anyone had seen and investigated something similar?… will keep you all on the edges of your seat and informed if i get a chance to pull panels off this weekend..
