Hello. I was looking at the bottom buttons on my O2FL, was thinking about how I only have 2 of the 5 slots occupied - one for the ASR and one for the airbag light, and I was wondering, what are the options that my model is missing? I know that for ESP equipped cars, the ASR button will say ESP I also know there's a tire pressure sensor setting button for cars with TPMS I'd like to add a charging port in one of the buttons and change the location of the lock/unlock button from next to the cupholders, maybe even retrofit an option or two, like the TPMS. I don't feel confident enough to do these jobs without first knowing what are all the possible buttons on there. Photo for reference

Hello. My car is a 2009 Octavia 2 Facelift, FWD with the 1.9tdi and the Rough Roads Package - raised suspension. My question is simple: does anyone know if the 4x4 or Scout versions came with different suspension parts? Or are they the same? And if so, has anyone installed a more offroad-oriented aftermarket suspension to the car? I'm unable to find any and I don't know if it's a search issue on my part or there just isn't any. Last update: The used steering rack was faulty too. Working, but with the persistent yellow error. Ended up getting another used rack and throwing it in. Error gone as soon as it was installed. I feel like the steering wheel is a bit heavier than it was before, but maybe I'm just tripping. Everything is working well, just had to pay for another alignment. A new steering rack is about double the price of the used one, although for just $150 I'm not sure if it was worth the hassle. Should have just bought new.

Ended up replacing the steering rack with an used one for $160 in parts + $90 mechanic fee + $25 front alignment. However the issue isn't completely gone, I'm back to working power steering but yellow steering wheel light in the dash with the same 00573 error popping up shortly after deleting it (10-15 mins of driving). Tried reading steering values, tried doing the max left - max right steering technique, nothing works, so I'll end up returning the used steering rack and buying another. Headache.

All the fuses are intact, tried switching them around, issue persists The yellow light appeared right as I gave it the first key after doing the suspension work. So I'm inclined to think it's something related to the actual rack. Hoping it's some plug, wiring or something like that

Every time I want to start modding this car to my liking, something expensive breaks. Long story short, weeks ago I brought it to a small local mechanic because something was squeaking when I was steering. It was just snowing recently so threw the car on the lift, took the wheels off, sprayed some degreaser stuff at the shocks, manually steered the wheels (by grabbing onto the brake disks) to work the degreaser stuff in, clean the salt out, rinse and repeat a few times. I think we also replaced some bushings? X shaped bushings, unsure what the part they attach to is called Ever since I've had the yellow steering wheel light lit in the dash. Everything was fine so I said no biggie, when I have time I'll throw a tester on it, see what's up Today that day forcibly came when the yellow light turned red, bomb ticking started playing in my speakers and the power steering completely went out. One arm workout later, I'm at the laptop guy and he's giving me these codes: 00573 Steering Torque Sensor (Implausible Signal) 00569 Current, Power Steering Motor (Upper Limit Exceeded) He can't really tell exactly what they're about, telling me something about the steering rack? Call a steering rack shop, they give me a quote - over 500 USD, **** me! The car's worth like 2 grand. So here I am, hoping someone more brilliant than me will say "that's exactly what I had" and save me from skipping another summer vacation. Extra info: The issue is intermittent. Sometimes I start the car and it's gone, then after some driving the bomb starts ticking again and I'm going head on with the truck from the opposite lane because the lack of power steering caught me off guard. So it must be some wiring stuff right? Not the whole rack What I'm thinking: Guy who did my suspension work few months ago dislodged some wire / sensor and it's now coming undone The car's had plenty... A LOT of electrical issues - central locking working only when it wants to, fuses killing themselves every few weeks, lights burning out, A/C working intermittently, so I'm thinking still something wiring related? Computer? Maybe bad ground? Whole steering rack needs replacing (please no) Thanks lads

I just made a recording that should show the issue better. -6 degrees outside, cold engine (came home ~8 hours before the recording). I let the key in the ignition for ~10 seconds before starting the recording. You can hear at 0:11 how I twist the key.. few seconds.. 0:13 starter kicks in, instantly turns on the engine. Then, second startup, instant So the battery isn't weak, the starter doesn't have any signs of failing - after the first startup the delay is gone until the engine is cold again, my best bet is something glowplug related?

The issue happens when it's warmer outside too, 10-20 celsius, but it does only happen at the first start up - when the engine is warm, no delay, so you might be right Next week I'll try getting a diagnose read but until then I'm open to more suggestions.

For a few weeks I've got a strange issue going on with my 1.9tdi Octavia 2. I get in it in the morning, rotate the key, lights turn on, radio, all normal, I rotate it again to start the engine - nothing. Not even the slightest attempt to rotate, it's doing absolutely nothing for a few seconds. Sometimes just 1-2 seconds, sometimes up to like 10 seconds of nothingness. After this delay, the starter kicks in and the engine starts instantly. The battery was changed about a year ago and it's in good shape, always charged. There's no 'failed' starter attempt as in hearing it slowly start to turn over or something similar so I don't think the starter is at fault either, since after the delay it just starts instantly. I'm thinking it's some sort of electrical issue but nobody knows where to start diagnosing something like this, so I'm praying that other octavia owners encountered the same issue.

That's what I did, lil bit of flux, heat up the wire, coat in solder, wait to cool, insulate. The wires themselves seemed fine though, I thought the 'corroded' part you saw was just glue residue because it was sticky, cleaned with isopropyl and looked brand new, orange copper.

Well.. that's kinda what I did I bought something similar to the second link but used, from a parts octy, since I can't find new in my area Twisted them wires together, added a bit of solder, rubber.. shrinky thing on top, heat up, add some electrical tape as well (didn't have black color, hope that's not why it's not working), better safe than sorry, no change 😞 Ignore my crapped out disk, it'll go to the bin soon enough

Octavia 2 Facelift The previous owner decided it's cheaper to just cut the cable of the plug for the brake pad wear sensor and glue it together than to buy new brake pads. Fast forward to today, I stole a plug from a crashed octy and tried my best soldering the new plug onto the old cable. Fresh brake pads, contact, oooo no error light. Drive a bit, damn light popped it's head up again. Now I'm wondering, maybe there's some way of resetting the brake pad wear sensor error thing? Because the other alternative is that I'd have to hire an electrician to do a proper solder job for the plug and my wallet wouldn't quite like that.

Now that was a fast reply, wow. 🤩 This is the guy that did the Passat swap in his Skoda (in the video it's a Skoda Laura for the indian market but I assume the only difference to the Octavia is the name) He's also doing an AWD swap and more mods to the car, his content is pretty cool I'm having a hard time choosing because I really dislike how the Passat & newer Skoda seats look, I can't find any A3 / S3 / Golf seats with all the features and as you said, the other models have different plugs. I found a lot of Audi A5 8T seats that look beautiful, not too old / boring, not too sporty. Do you think it's a lot of work, changing the wiring and plugs to fit the Octavia? Also have you changed the rear seats as well? Or other interesting quality of life mods to your Octavia?

Did you end up doing this? I was browsing through the internet and found something similar, RS4 seats fitted inside the O2 FL. I'm out on vacation and my O2FL decides to crap itself. Suddenly a lot of my lights won't work. The whole right headlight is not functional besides the stationary lights, the fog light on that side doesn't work either, the right stationary tail light isn't working as well as the left rear signal. The bulbs are okay, checked some fuses, fine as well, when I lock/unlock my car all the signal lights work but when I actually signal / turn on hazards, they don't work. I'm in the middle of the mountains with a toolbox and no services nearby, plus it's a sunday. Any thoughts?

I don't think there's one. I just did brake work on the rear a few days before the error started appearing. The calipers were stubborn so I assume brake fluid must have spilled out the reservoir while I was compressing the pistons? Then, as the brake pads started wearing down (lots of km, sporty driving style, lotta breaking), the slight difference in brake fluid pressure from brand new pads to slightly worn pads was enough to start throwing up errors. Anyway, I'll keep an eye on the level and a bottle of brake fluid with me. If it goes down again I'll get it to the mechanic

Fixed it. For anyone looking for the same problem: Error: Handbrake light would blink 3 times and also beep 3 times. The beeps are higher pitched and more frequent than the one that happens when you forget the handbrake pulled. Solution: Added brake fluid. Over years, the fluid container can become tinted yellow which makes it hard to see how much fluid there is. In my case there was almost no fluid so at first I was fooled and thought it's actually filled. On the second attempt I stuck a flashlight right to the container which made it much clearer to see that it was actually little to no fluid. Topped up and everything is now mint.

Hi! Does anyone happen to have on hand some underside pictures of the O2 / O2FL with the 4x4 system? I'm wondering how different is it to the FWD version besides the saddle fuel tank, exhaust setup and of course all the rear axle stuff

The brakes of my Octavia are coming to the end of life. One rear disk is almost eaten up, one rear caliper is stuck, the front disks are warped and a front caliper has some mounting issue that causes it to make clanking noises when braking. I just bought a set of new rims that show much more of what's behind the wheel compared to the old steelies and I'm planning on small performance upgrades in the near future. I have a very sporty driving style so I figured I shall upgrade the brakes as well since I have to replace everything anyway. I'm not entirely sure what kind of upgrade to do. Should I just buy better disks and pads, is it easy to upgrade to VRS calipers or should I maybe look for other aftermarket upgrades, maybe even look at other related models such as the Mk5/6 Golf or the Audi A3? Thoughts?

Octavia 2 FL, 2009 1.9tdi. Yesterday, during a sportier drive, out of nowhere my handbrake light started briefly blinking and beeping for a few seconds, then back to normal. I don't know if it's a coincidence but a driver behind me also started flashing at me at the same time the beeping happened. My first thought was that my brakes overheated from high speed braking so I pulled over and inspected for smoke/heat or any other visible stuff. Nothing. Checked for brake fluid leaks and level, nothing. Everything was completely normal. Started driving slowly to hear if there's anything going on, it was perfectly normal, so I'm really confused as to what happened.

Yeah so... I broke it... Any ideas how to swap them to electric powered? Aka they close when you lock the car

I always found it weird that no matter how hard I push, the mirrors on my Octavia 2 Facelift are unable to fold even though the plastic seems to have the creases necessary to allow a fold. I've seen other cars of the same models with the mirrors folded, some even fully electric, so I'm wondering if this is just something that my Octavia didn't come with or did the previous owner do something cheeky with them?

I don't think there are any 4x4 hatchbacks on this generation 🤔

I own a Skoda Octavia 2 Facelift from 2009, Hatchback FWD which I wish to swap into 4x4 to make it more suitable for off-roading. I know the cheap, easy, fast and logical approach would be to buy one that already has 4x4 but my mind is still stuck on swapping the one my family had for years. Reading this forum, from what I understand the swap is possible by just swapping parts such as the gearbox, rear suspension, diesel tank etc... but I can't find a comparison between the 4x4 systems present on the O2, if there is any difference. I know that the 4x4 was found in the Scout, VRS as well as some normal models, but no idea if there's actually any difference between them and I'd like some clarification from anyone familiar with it. Thank you!
