So how would i know it's the canister?? Thats a silly question also the fuel pump gauge does the fuel pump when submerged have a locating point of just flaps around ?? Hence why gauge is odd ??

Right on it tomorrow so where can I locate fuel lines ?? Also a while back i changed fuel pump and the petrol gauge isn't working well sometimes does but ds wrong..... so where would I find the filler neck vent ?? What could it be ?? Ps thanks also its only now and then and smell stays then goes then comes back so unsure also I know i have a exhaust blow on that time should I replace fuel lines ?? Also the charcoal canister what is that for ?? Thanks also what size fuel pipe needed thankyou

So its only now and then the sparks are new the petrol cap makes a click noise erm the fuel filter is couple years old erm its only when driving along have looked at exhaust seems ok erm dont know what else to say ?? And thankyou for your help

Good morning all after you all helped me get my pickup on road etc I now have a weird smell of fuel and it's driving me mental it's only now and then any ideas please 🙏 fuel filter fine can't see fuel leak in injectors please advise 😀

Still have to check the earth on dash surely ??

Brill thankyou so if the needle isn't going up then is it like a ring main where it's constantly grounded so check there on dash ??

Anything to help as I can't understand only thing is sometimes the light switch is temperamental and needs to be pushed a couple of times ??

Will start from the beginning so anyone who reads this might know what is happening... So I turn the ignition the fuel gauge on dash flickers jumps about 5 to 10mm then stays on empty after a few seconds say 20 or 30 the orange light appears as if empty which I know it's not... I started by replacing fuel pump which has the sender attached which I know to work... my old fuel pump had packed up so brought new 1 and I replaced the cluster with a new 1 too.. the old sender did work as before the van was sat up for 5 years off the road but still started and moved around until a year ago when the ecu wouldn't work the van just laid up.. So replaced ecu and cleaned the earth wire up by ecu as was advised and came to life.. Now back to problem... the fuel pump wires that's a 4 plug pin type photo attached Internet picture. The back of dash instrument panel these cables which 1's are the corresponding 1's to pump end also where are the earth points is there any other earth points for the sender and dash instrument other than the bolt behind clocks ?? Please help as me van is so helpful and like things to work.. In another thread I read someone replaced the yellow cable please explain this technique.

It's a 4pin plug on the fuel pump so what colours mean what and the corresponding ones at instrument end what is the colours there .

Thankyou but what are the colours ie is yellow earth or ground what's the blue wire and the black wire and the 2 colour cable .......thankyou so there for I can run fresh cables please
