Pretty sure I have the same issue. Had it for 100k kms and I’m now at 170,000km. Is this a job I can do myself at home?

Mechanic mentioned my front strut tops are creaking and need replacing. Doable DIY job or needs professional mechanic tools and solutions?

Interesting... dropped into the mechanic to change the coolant bottle this morning. Easy swap out. While the engine was hot the first thing he did was unplug the electrical connection - my old coolant bottle must have had a crack near the electrical connection - it was overflowing via the electrical port hole! Months down the line i assume potential for some water damage to the harness with this. Suggest changing the coolant bottle by 150k on the clock or sooner.

Update from mechanic. Coolant control valve confirmed to be faulty. Also changed temp sensor after that valve considering the games it was playing on me. Mechanic also mentioned all the crystals inside the coolant bottle had burst and been circulated through the coolant system so suggested best to drain everything and replace with new coolant bottle with fresh crystals. Never heard of these before. Pic of what I think the issue was with - I saw it on the bench and it looked just like this.

Yeah cheers for the input. Seems water pump is fine. Coolant was fine. No smoke so assume no water in combustion. Mechanic is diagnosing all of the temp sensors and parts and I’m away on a week holiday waiting for an update.

Got to the car early this morning to drive to mechanic. Spluttering again on startup again like a bad misfire. Smoothed out pretty quick and drove fine for 10minutes. Temp started creeping up from 90. Hoping it’s a simple cheap fix 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

Actually didn’t seem hot at all. The fan would run on for half a minute or so but it wasn’t burning anywhere in the engine bay. Not sure how to read that other than something is broken and I don’t want to blow the engine.

So later the same day my car started overheating very quickly. I think it was likely my water pump that caused the spluttering start. Maybe the bearings jammed or the internals got to the point where they didn’t went to turn. Unlike when my thermostat went and the car went into limp mode this time it just got super hot, like to the max on the gauge reading and the dash just told me to turn the car off. Strangely when in neutral and not moving the temp gauge would move quickly to the colder direction and then bounce back to hot. It’s parks on the side of the road right now waiting to cool down. Will drive it early morning to mechanic tomorrow. Fingers crossed nothing more than water pump.

Hi all, hoping for some guidance. started my car today which is parked in a basement garage in Sydney Australia. For the first time ever it spluttered and the engine stopped. Started again and gave it a rev and it spluttered a little and then smoothed out. Probably due for spark plugs and air filter - any other ideas of what to look at? Petrol 2015 plate Octavia VRS turbo petrol 2.0L engine completely stock.

Hi, i have a MK3 Octavia VRS Wagon - My daytime running lights are failing - 1 semi works and the other doesn't. I know via the internal screen controls i can turn them off in the settings, however this resets everytime i turn the car off/on. is there a hack to make sure they turn off and stay off myself? If i pull the fuse will the fault light stay on permanently? Right now it sometimes throws me a fault warning and sometimes doesn't.

Hi there, i have had a mk3 octavia VRS since new. Over the past few years the right side steering wheel control wheel has stopped working to scroll through the dash features and screen options. Is there a DIY fix for this? Very frustrating as i like to just have it set on speed in digits, however sometimes it changes on its own and it takes me weeks/months to finally get the wheel to work to change it back. More recently a mechanic serviced my car and scrolled through to try reset the service light which came back on for some reason. Now its stuck on audio input and i cant seem to change it! HELP

Can only a skoda dealer update this or can any auto elec do it with their device?

Hi all. Seeking some guidance if anyone knows: - I used to have iPhone 13 using iOS16 and CarPlay worked fine through the wired usb port - just upgraded to iPhone 15 using ios18 and now I can’t connect - issues are intermittent charging signal for starters - a pop up comes up every 25 seconds on the info screen with a connect button. Timed it right and pushed it only for it to tell me that the USB port doesn’t support Apple CarPlay Now I don’t know what to do and I can’t live without CarPlay. HELP
