  1. Hi, many thanks for the reply and suggestion. I found the fix to my particular issue however. Some more internet digging threw up my issue as a common problem and it was resolved by removing fuse No.19 from behind the glovebox and waiting a couple of minutes. This forced a hard reboot of the infotainment and SOS telemetrics and sorted the issue. It appears that the two systems sometimes lose connection with eachother and looks like the car can't download your profile from the servers. Thanks again for your suggestion though, much appreciated 👍
  2. Thanks for the suggestion. I've subsequently found (by accident!), that when you turn the ignition off I can access all the normal menus, but as soon as the ignition is turned on, it's back to the 'loading setting' screen. I did some more digging on the internet and it does seem to be a common issue to do with the head unit not communicating with the SOS module and I'm guessing therefore the internet/Skoda servers. Many find that removing the fuse No.19 for a bit does a proper hard boot and often resorted the connection. Others do as you've suggested and disconnect the battery to achieve the same thing. I'll give it a go later tomorrow and report back!
  3. I've got a 1.0 TSI Technology and it's had the recent system update which went Ok, with the exception of having to reset the users etc. and has been fine since that was done a couple of weeks ago. Today I started the system and it started to boot up with the usual 'Loading Settings' and spinning wheel. That normally only takes a few seconds but this went on for the whole 30 min journey to work. The same thing on the way home too, despite several reboots by holding the button down for 10 secs. The Climate control works, as do the parking sensor displays and I can turn off the bloody annoying Lane Control and Start/Stop system but no radio, navigation or any other menus! When switching off I get the message attached? I tried my wife's key when I got home and had exactly the same issues. Has anyone had similar and found a cure or is it just a glitch with the Skoda servers? It's way out of warranty now and I'm extremely reluctant to pay main steeler prices and then have them shrug and say I need a new system.
  4. Bear in mind that the figures given on the fuel flap only apply to 3 or more people being carried with varying degrees of luggage according to the associated diagrams. If like me it's usually only one or two people plus dogs, then they seem far too high. My old MK2 Ford Focus ran 33psi all round except when fully loaded, when it was up to 36psi at the rear. I found the ride too choppy when inflating them to the lower of the two figures given on the fuel flap so reverted to how the Skoda dealer had set them before I took delivery e.g. 34psi all round and found it a much more comfortable ride when lightly loaded.
  5. I'm pretty fanatical about checking tyre pressures and the day after collecting my Skida Approved Used 1.0TSI Estate I checked to see what the pressures had been set to by the dealer. All 34psi which is what I would have expected for an unladen car with just driver and passenger (out old Fucus was 33psi all round). Checked the recommended pressures on the fuel flap and there are none given for only driver or driver and passenger, only 3-up with some luggage and fully laden. The quoted pressures are as you say. I tried then at the lower of the two for a day and the ride was awful with just me and the dogs in the boot. Far too choppy. Ever since I've set them at 34 psi all round unless loaded up and the ride is much better. The Tyre pressure sensor has to be set by you once your happy with them and just warns of any change outside a set difference. AFAIK it does not tell you if the pressures are correct, just uses wheel rotation to determine any changes from those set.
  6. Sorry for the daft question, I've never had a car this new before, how do you know when they've done an OTA update, do you just have to look at the software version on the infotainment system or is there an obvious message displayed somewhere?
  7. Went out and hour later and started engine fine, no error messages and nothing shown up since. All lights still functioning correctly. It's like driving a bloomin' PC, if you get a problem first try turning it off, waiting a bit and 'rebooting' the car 🙄
  8. My 21 plate 1.0TSI Technology Estate would only fit the space saver wheel and tool kit in with the floor laying level and that was tight. You have to ensure the tool kit fits correctly inside the rim of the wheel or the floor will be slightly raised and rock, so unless you leave the tool kits polystyrene holder out, I doubt you'd get a full sized inflated wheel in there.
  9. Just had a similar situation whilst driving, warning popped up saying 'Check nearside daytime running light/sidelights'. Got home and checked and everything was working fine. Tried turning from auto to manual lighting which made no difference but a 2nd error appeared saying to check the right side lights too. Again, everything appears to be working fine? Just switched it off now and going to wait an hour to see if that clears the error as others have found. Bit annoying as I only bought it as a Skoda Approved Used car a month ago and it's been fine up till now. Hoping that I don't have to book it in just to have the error codes removed. I've got an OBDII reader and was half tempted to plug it in and see if I could clear them myself but I don't want to risk voiding the warranty.
  10. Thought this screenshot might be helpful in explaining that it's not just the wheel rim size that needs to be taken into account when selecting the correct sized space saver spare wheel. Because the profile (height of the tyre if you will) is expressed as a percentage of the tyre width and the space saver is a LOT narrower than the normal road tyre, consequently the profile will need to be different to equate. Tyresize.com allows you to see this and compare how much of a difference there is to the road wheel circumference. The 2nd tyre size is that of the tyre/wheel combination which Skoda show on the inside of the fuel flap on my 2021 Octavia 1.0 TSI Technology with 16 inch road wheels. As you'll see it's 3.1% smaller in circumference than the normal 16 inch tyre/wheel but that's pretty close considering you're also limited to 50 mph. It's also important to ensure that the space saver is of sufficient size and offset to clear the brake calipers. Hope this helps, as I too found it all very confusing to begin with!
  11. Agreed, that's what I'd said in my original post too. To be honest I didn't want to find out there was a clearance issue or that I needed to find a different profile tyre to fit to a secondhand one at the side if the road, so I just ended up ordering the correct kit from my Skoda dealer.
  12. Interesting, my 2021 1.0 TSI Technology has 16 inch wheels and yet the spare space saver wheel is listed by Skoda as an 18 inch in the catalogue, confirmed by the label on the inside of the fuel filler flap. The circumference calculates out as the same as the normal wheels as the profile is different on the space saver 🤷‍♀️
  13. The space saver wheel is an 18 inch one and the tyre profile it's fitted with makes it compatible with the 16 inch wheels fitted to your car. Space savers don't need to exactly match the diameter of the wheels fitted by law but they should be close. I've been looking into this and have just ordered the spare wheel kit and wheel from my local dealer for £256 which includes everything you need. You can find the exact details of the recommended spare on the inside of the fuel flap where the tyre pressures are. Be warned, there are loads of secondhand 16 inch space saver wheels/kits out there quite cheaply but the profile of the tyres fitted will mean that they could be several inches smaller than the 16 inch full sized ones fitted to the car. They MAY get you out of trouble but the MAY also foul the brake calipers or cause other issues if the car thinks there are significant differences in wheel rotation once fitted. Personally I found that by the time I'd managed to find the correct 18 inch spare wheel/tyre, bought the screw to fix it in, as well as the tools and foam surround, I was better off just buying the correct thing from Skoda and have done.
  14. Yes MK4, new shape with single headlamps.
  15. Looking forward to taking delivery of a Skoda Approved Used 1.0 TSI Octavia Estate 2021 model. The last Skoda we had was a 1.3 Estelle II back in the 90s and to be honest I loved driving it being rear engines. Even if I did get some stick at the time 😄
