  1. Having been forced away 3 years ago by the restrictions of a company car policy, I am happy to be back in the fold with my new Superb.

I have been lucky with my choices this time & gone for a Superb Combi L&K (christened Laura & Kevin by the kids), managed to throw in a few extras :

Black Magic Pearl (with Black leather interior)

    Smartgate

    Light Assist

    Lane Assist with BSD

    Premium WLan/LTE

    Travel Assist

    Media Command

    Hill Hold

    Seat Backrest Release from Boot

    Integrated Towbar

    Heated Windscreen Nozzles.

My previous Skoda was a FL VRS Est (Octavia 100 WRC edition before that) & I missed that massively, the Passat Alltrack was not a patch on it.

I have covered about 120 miles so far & I have to say the improvements on the MK111 are huge, the fit & finish is top notch, the driving experience is great, DCC is really useful & noticeable.

I will post some better pictures when i stop driving it !!

  2. Having been on here a few years ago with a MK1 Octy VRS 100 Edition & then a 59 plate VRS Combi, I had a Passat Alltrack (Allcrap :( ) for a couple of years, but I placed my order yesterday for a Superb Combi, 150 4X4 L&K. Added a few extras & hopefully it will be here in July.

Options: Black Pearlescent, SmartGate, Smart Light Assist with Lane Assist and BSD, Premium WLAN with Integrated High Speed LTE Internet, Travel Assist, Media Command, Hill Hold Control, Rear Backrest Release from Boot, Integrated Towbar, Heated Windscreen Washer Nozzles.

    Cannot wait for delivery :)

  3. Absolutely ANYTHING but the I Phone

I love the functionality of it, I love the Apps & what I can do with it.

But, I want a phone first & a gadget second, The signal & dropped calls, i just cannot live with.

I have run 2 handsets side by side, one being a Blackberry 8900 & the I Phone, both same network, the BB blows the Die phone away in terms of phone calls, (actually being able to make them that is).

I am still mid contract & am seriously considering buying my way out.

    :(

  4. Ive had a factory fit bluetooth kit fitted today, and I can not praise Ben at Shark Performance enough. I spoke to Ben a couple of weeks ago, and he talked me through all the kit options available.

I dropped the car off this morning, and he called me a couple of hours later to say it was all done, and ready to be picked up. When I arrived, he literally had a que out the door he was that busy, but he still acknowledged me and soon got to me.

Ben talked me through the kit, and how to use it. He even told me he had fixed the touch screen on the headunit, as it wasnt working as it should be, even though I didnt know! He also said that the buzzing sound coming from the screen, wasnt right, even though the dealer had told me it was fine. So thanks Ben, looks like Ive got another arguement with the dealer coming!

Overall, great kit, excellent service and top bloke!

Yep, he sure was busy today,

I dropped in unannounced for a chat & he found time to re-map the car & took me out for a fairly long test drive.

Needless to say, the map did not get removed, it works very well.

  5. Thanks for all your replies.

Took it back to the dealer again and complained once more. They agreed to have geometry checked at local specialist. When I went to pick it up the service manager came for a chat. The outcome was that he had found a memo from Skoda from 5yrs ago!! It stated that the rear suspension set up was found to wear rear tyres on the inner edge and this then caused tryre noise. The more the wear, the more noise etc. When my car returned they found that the specialist, they had set it up to the factory setting which was wrong!! It had to go back again for resetting to the Skoda recommended angles from the memo.

Tyres were swapped front to rear but now they make even more noise and can also feel vibrations through steering and brakes.

Tyres are Dunlop SportMaxx and still have 5mm tread. Can't really afford to change them yet.

Settings which specialist had were rear camber -1deg 49min. and toe 0deg 7min. Skoda setting (correct) -1deg 20min camber and 0deg 6min toe

    Will keep updated.

    Any other tyre recommendations please?

I am in the same position, 2 new tyres after 7,000 miles, 2 more at 12,000

The dealer (Rainworth) fobbed me off with the same 5 year old memo, they said (JT - Owner) that there is no point in them pursuing Skoda, as they get the same response everytime, NO WARRANTY. They suggested I log a complaint with SUK, which I did 2 weeks ago, I have had several calls from them advising me they are still looking into it.

I changed from the awful Dunlops to Vredestains & had the Rear Toe changed at Wheels in Motion, all is good now, the rears have been on for 6,000+ & no saw toothing.

We all need to complain loudly to SUK about the Dunlops !

The more that do, the more chance we have of getting some recompense.

    cheers

  6. I got that letter this morning. Might take them up on it as I reckon that's 2 services for £299... My car is due it's first service in 6400 miles according to the car, so if I register for the deal in a couple of months when there's 1000 miles or so left before the service I'll get 2 variable services... Must be cheaper than if I pay for them separately...

Interesting that they reckon my local dealer is the one I bought the car from rather then the one nearest the address on file emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

I got the same letter, I had the same idea about waiting until I was reday for the service then get 2 variables in (getting about 18K per service).

    Looks like a result

  7. Just a quick update.

After nearly 6,000 miles, I am happy to report that the rear wear is completely even & without any issue whatsoever.

This I beleive is due to a combination of the correct alignment (albeit to Skoda's minimum Camber & toe settings) & a tyre that has a solid band on the inner edge that is less resistant to Saw Toothing.

I am happy, just still discussing with SUK who is paying for the premature wear on the other tyres.

  8. Hi.

Anybody knows how to unlock the dvd lock so the passenger can watch DVD movies while im driving?

I have bought the latest Superb 2010 with Columbus navigation.

I have seen that VW has one "hack" to do it and I tried it and it didnt work on Skoda.

Youl be nice now before the vacations starts.

    THX :D

As far as I remember, this will not work on the units with newer firmware >2660,

it works on mine by pressing the i button followed by the tone button when at standstill, you then hear a tone & all is unlocked, however, any adjustments you make whilst driving will send the unit into blank screen mode, needing a stop & a repeat of the procedure.

    HTH

  9. I was in the same situation. The spoiler does fit, however aligning it can be a bit of a nightmare, the problem is that when the tailgate is fully opened the top edge of the spoiler just touches the rear edge of the roof causing 2 small marks to the edge of the spoiler.

I will post some pictures at the weekend when I am back home from travelling.

    Cheers

  10. Having been an avid cyclist for longer than I can remember, using the Yeti as bike transport recently has been nothing short of a revelation!

Prior to the acqusition of the Yeti and the internal bike rack, previously I've done many thousands of miles with the bike, wheels off, in the back with the back seats folded down.

The internal bike carrier is great (though expensive) and works well, and the car makes an excellent 'base camp' as you get yourself prepared for the big off. The tailgate also makes a great rainshield I've found!

I think the nature of the car really suits the sport, and it even has some genuine cycling provenace with all the sponsorship that Skoda puts into professional cycling.

Plus the heated seats have been great for drying out and easing a behind sore, from 5+ hours of a racing bike saddle!

I did a large organised ride at the weekend, and the Yeti, with the internal bike rack caused quite a stir with the other assorted cyclists. It just seemed so right.

Here are some pictures of my Specialized S-Works Roubaix with a Skoda Yeti attached.

    Nice Bike, Nice Groupset !

I have the less comfortable, S Works Tarmac SL, using SRAM aswell.

  11. Slightly off topic, But

I remember the days of Night Rallying in MKII Escorts, when (rumour has it :giggle: ) that the easiest way to source a donor 5 Speed gearbox for a Quaife or ZF Straight Cut was to hire a Sierra for the weekend, change out the box & return it on Monday morning as a 4 speed*, remarkably no-one ever mentioned it !

    * No Sierras were harmed in this process & of course, I may have just dreamed it

  12. Hi all,

When my car arrived (FL vRS), I changed the convenience settings via maxidot so that both offside doors would open on the first press of the key, the remaining open on the second press.

Today for the first time, I used the spare key, but this one only opens the drivers door on the first press, the rest on the second press (exactly as delivered), upon checking the key I normally use, this continues to use the user defined setting I changed.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

Or have I just missed this part of the owners manual?

    Cheers

  13. OK my detailing collection is starting to grow each month and the old tool tray I use is not really doing it for the job. Do people have any recommendations? I've seen the meguiars one but unsure if it's big enough.

I use one of THESE B&Q keep having them on offer for about £20, never had it tip over n the boot & has lots of storage pockets & room, but then again, its probably similar to what you have already :S

  14. QUESTIONS:-

    1. Did you attend the scene?.

    2. Did you talk to all parties including any members of the public who may have seen it?

    3. Did you take statements and do a sketch plan?

    4. Did you examine the road surface ,and vehicle damage?

    5. Did you take any photos or measurements?

    6. Have you dealt with 1000's of road traffic accidents?

    7. Have you ever attended Crown Courts to give evidence?

    ANSWER:-

    NO!! -

ONLY WHEN YOU HAVE DONE THE JOB ,CAN YOU MAKE VALID COMMENTS !!!!

So obviously Andy Pandy, I assume you are not on any type of Police/Public liaison committee?

Chill out man, you of all people should know that people make comments & statements that are more sensitised when they have been close to or involved in an accident (even if they are not there).

Try to be professional (yes I do see the police force as a profession), the comments were not directed at you personally...........
