Karoq or Octavia?
I've gone from 2017 Octavia to 2020 Karoq ...1.4 for the Octavia , 1.5 for the karoq , so pretty much the same engine wise. I do feel the octy could swallow much more but I like the ride height of the Karoq. I avoided the dry clutch DSG this time as I tow a caravan. But the Karoq doesn't feel quite as quick of the mark without the DSG My only real concern is that the lumbar part of the driver seat coupled with the cars height ....might make it prone to even more wear on the driver's seat as I have to rub against it to get in. My Octavia was wearing without the height and such a steep lumber. Vision is good in the Karoq in my opinion and the reverse camera is an excellent feature that helps when reverse parking. I have a pan roof on mine , and yes it's leaked , I'd avoid a pan roof in future especially if only on extended warranty as it's not covered. Overall I liked them both for economy and reliability but obviously they do differ.

Karoq Towing Weights ...confusion
Thanks all , everyone's opinion helps me come to a reasonable conclusion. I'm currently towing a lightweight caravan that tows extremely well at only 1067kg max laden weight. My thoughts were to find a caravan between 1300-1400kg laden weight( which opens up more options ) By the sounds of it whilst driving with caution this shouldn't be a problem. But for safety I'll aim for something nearer 1300kg if I can. Of course , caravan and car loading are important , length of caravan and road conditions. I had about 8 years towing experience but this was some time ago. There's no set rule for all other than ensuring you're happy that your safe. I've seen posts about people towing big caravans with the 1.4 kodiaq , while this might be stable the overall train weight must be a strain on that engine !

Reversing camera image - can you see the car's own number plate?
After never having a rear view camera until this last 2 months .....my experience is as follows. Hitching up the caravan is now an absolute dream ! Reverse parking is no better , but proximity to a rear wall / tree /bush etc is obviously improved. So while it doesn't help the manoeuvre as such , it's helpful. I still use my wing mirrors and sight .....even though I've tried with the camera it's length of view and clarity isn't good enough and is distracting for me. I often can't see the parking lines as well as I can with my mirrors. Maybe it's just practise .....but I feel safer with the mirrors. All said I do think it's a good feature. No number plate displayed on mine , but for the percentage of screen this interferes with it wouldn't bother me.

Karoq Towing Weights ...confusion
Hi As a fairly new Karoq driver I bought the car based on towing a lightweight caravan. As all those that tow will know , weight ratios are important. We can discuss the engine power etc but I really want more knowledge on the weight of my 1.5 SE L manual Karoq. So why am I confused , the weight everywhere I search online suggests it's around 1320 kg without driver , my V5 suggests it's mass in service is 1501 kg. Now my car was blessed with a lot of optional extras as new , including pan roof , auto boot , and electric drivers seat ....to name those I think add to the standard weight. The actual car weight is important to me if I want to upgrade the caravan , my current van has a max loaded weight of 1067 ....so a great match , but I want a lightweight fixed bed 4 birth at 1300kg.. The difference in suggested kerb weights of 1320kg and 1500kg is significant in my case. While I have towing experience , I want to relax in the knowledge that I can avoid those hair raising moments. I'm also aware , how important the portable load is mixed between caravan and car ,where the weight is placed in the caravan , and getting the right nose weight is important. I did have a D200Q 7 speed dry DSG on a Octavia ( even lighter weight car ) previously but avoided the DSG this time as I'm aware of it's unreliability under load , particularly towing. A diesel wasn't an option due to the nature of my work , very short city journeys. My question ....what weight is my car ......1501kg or 1320kg. What figure would you use ?

Sunroof leak ....another.
The lower drainage holes aren't visible but if you look at the attached photo , you can remove these three torx screws , pull back the wheel arch dirt guard , and then reach in with your arm. You can feel them rather than see them. Alternatively you can remove the wheel and remove the whole wheel arch guard.

Sunroof leak ....another.
So here's an update ....I managed to drop the rear head lining down enough to slide my arm in and reach the suspect drain hose .....oh boy ! These drain tubes pull on and off so easily , hardly a tight fit , they just clip on with a mild push. It was attached , but I removed it , blew down the tubing and reattached it again. 2nd water test from the sunroof gulley and the drain was now flowing , result !! However during this water test I got clumsy with the water , and some went over the roof and around the rebate for the boot , this ended up being a bit of luck because my partner noticed the rubber grommet holding the wires from the main body of the car to the boot was also seeping. A bit of flexible sealant and this is now all sorted. All a bit odd as the near side corner drain certainly wasn't flowing. I genuinely think this was leaking in 2 different areas. By the way , Dr Beckham's carpet cleaner did wonders on the roof lining , cleared up the water tide marks and other marks too. Just agitate it in to the liner with the bristled cap , expected some to drip as your working upside down , leave for a few minutes and dab with kitchen towel or spotlessly clean MFC to remove some moisture after. Also .....trim removal was a pain in the butt , and I can see that without patience and care you could easily do damage. I had to start with low level trim first as the pieces are "layered" over each other

Sunroof leak ....another.
Hi All New member here although often read posts before joining. I'm hoping someone can help , and this thread may help others in the future , as this appears a common problem. Not only is it a common problem but one that appears in exactly the same place for a few people. My Karoq has a panoramic sunroof fitted but it appears to be leaking. I've seen 2 other posts where the leak is presenting itself in the exact same place. It's dribbling through a vent facing down in the boot , directly above the rechargable torch. I've also noticed a damp mark on the corner of the roof lining , which is a bit further forward. Strange how this leak is so often in the same place. After carrying out a water test , all drainage outlets of the sunroof are working except the n/s/r , as I expected. My first thought was to check the drainage pipes weren't blocked. After eventually finding the bottom outlet behind the wheel arch water guard I proceeded to use net curtain wire to check it was clear. To my suprise the pipe is perfectly clear and clean. However , it does "dead" stop at the top. Now Im suspecting that this pipe has come off right under the roof lining where it meets the cassette drain , although I don't know. It could be split. I think I need to start removing interior trim to get to this , which from other reports sounds tricky. Does anyone have any experience with this issue , what was the outcome and did you need to remove the internal trim ? My car is under Skoda extended warranty but I note that sunroofs are excluded , plus if I take it to my dealer , they'll want some decent money just for diagnosis. 2020 Karoq Se L
