So update...I continued using approx 12l/100km of fuel. I filled up again (3rd time since service). Instantly,the fuel consumption dropped and righted itself (back to 6- 7l/100km). So, it must have been crook fuel, not the service (coincidence!) First two lots of fuels came from 2 separate servos but same town. The 3rd 200km away. Thanks for advice but all seems well now.

He said it idled in the shop but I don't see this os relevant if I filled up after the service and immediate embarked on my usual trip. I have refilled and will set off on my weekly trip soon. Will be interesting, but I'm worried I'll run out of fuel if it problem gets worse. The place I drive is remote & fuel very expensive. It was a standard 30,000 service as per the service pack purchased with vehicle.

I travel 500km a week. Same route. Have done for years. I generally get 700km a tank on 98 fuel. I had my car serviced and immediately drove to my destination. I thought the instantaneous fuel consumption appeared to be higher than normal going there (which is mostly downhill). My suspicions were confirmed when red light came on as I got back home - having only travelled 500km. The infotainment system showed I averaged 12l/100km (normally around 7 or 8). I took it back to the service guy who said it was due to idling in the shop. He didn't seem to understand, regardless of the computer reading, I used a full tank (I know I did, because I refilled and it was definitely empty. I see a few others have had similar questions but I couldn't see a resolution?
