  1. Hi all, our 73 plate Enyaq has now developed a hopefully minor issue with the charging flap as it occasionally sticks every couple of days. After locking and unlocking the car, hitting the flap, it eventually opens. Not the best situation. Its booked into the main dealers in Durham next week to have it sorted. Is it a sticking solenoid? If so, can this be disabled or not? to prevent this occuring in the future, can the solenoid linkage be lubricated? Is this a common issue with any VW product, sorry for all the questions!
  2. Hi all My car had now covered 48,000 miles in just over 4 1/2 years, as I'm planning to keep the car for a couple of more years, what should I be looking for in preventative maintenance? When should I be thinking about looking at the DSG box fluid change, if its required. I'm sure its sealed for life and should only be changed when the transmission develops a fault Does anyone have any experience of the all in service plan from Skoda? thanks
  3. Thanks for all the advice so far, will look at replacing both side as well as the springs and top mountings along with the drop links and possibly the brakes as working on the principle the wheel has to come off anyway so you may as well change at the same time. Next question, does the Monte Carlo have lowered suspension? Euro only seem to list only one type
  4. Just checked the front end today by jacking up the corner and making sure there was no load on the spring, which does not appear to be broken, at least at the bottom. There's no movement when i try to move it. So unless it broken at the top, I've made an appointment with the local agent to have a look and price for its replacement. Shouldn't take that long to replace, an hour at the most, so I'm thinking around £250 for the repair?
  5. Thanks for all the replies so far, I've jacked the car up and cannot see any jagged or broken sections of the spring and its not loose in its mounting so I don't think its broken, it could be right at the top. Time for a good think!
  6. or time to move it on?
  7. Hi all checking the car over after I heard a loud bang from the passenger side the other evening, I noticed this oil leak from the front passenger side strut Am I correct in thinking this could be a MOT failure? Also as this is a Monte Carlo spec, am I also correct in thinking the suspension is lower than other models by the spring height of 15mm, I've looked on euro parts and the strut is not listed Or is it worth getting the pressure washer out near MOT time with the snow foam and engine cleaner?
  8. Evening, some nice person kindly damaged the passenger side indicator repeater on the passenger side door mirror this evening, are they easy to re-fit and whats the price? thanks
  9. Evening, we've been experiencing difficulties in connecting our Enyaq to the box, it looks as if there's the handshake between the car and box is not happening. The white light is flashing on the car then turning red with no connection to the box. Which is showing a steady green light at the right hand side of the LED. As well as removing the app and re-added it, removing and re-adding the car to the app, testing the cable at a local pod point which worked, tried it again yesterday and didn't We've done the power cycle to update the firmware which is 2.51, Ohme did try to send a software update which failed, I switched it off for a while to night and just turned it back on Has anyone else had similar issues? If the cable has failed, all the contacts look clean, can these be repaired? We are going to the main dealer on Tuesday to ask if we can check the cable on one of their chargers to definitely rule the cable out

Thanks for the reply, the ambient temperature was around 5 - 10c, it was charging fine in colder weather. Its been back to Skoda today and the high voltage charger is faulty, new part ordered so hopefully all is well. Which is strange we've only used the public network around 3 times since we had the car, so its a bit of mystery why it failed. The last time it was on a public charger was at Manchester Airport when my wife was away on a works trip at half term

Evening My wife's Enyaq is charging slowly only showing between 1 and 3 Kw on the Ohme app and on our smart meter.. We've checked all the app settings for both the car and the wallbox charger, unplugged anything that could be a drain on the electric in case the car charger thinks it could be overloading the circuit board. The green light next to the plug on the car seems to be pulsing from the normal bright green dimming then returning to the ,normal brightness every 3 - 5 seconds, comparable with the drop in power usage on the smart meter. All settings are off. We checked this with another wall box at the in law's and still the same issue, this ruling out the provider and wall box, any idea's
  12. Thanks for the replies so far Its almost tempting to look for a first generation diesel octavia, about 4 years ago I was involved in recovering dash cam footage from taxi's around the North East, I saw one with close on 475,000 miles on the original engine and gearbox, 5th clutch, oil and filter's every 5,000 miles helped! I to tend to follow a similar service pattern and never lost an engine yet and plan to do an oil and filter change every 6 months as I do short journey's now and the car is only used 3 - 4 days in the week with home working. Apart from a 307 1.6 hdi that decided to do an engine surge whilst returning home past the Metrocentre. Interesting moment when I tried to turn the motor off, removed the key and the engine is still sitting on its governors with loads of black smoke. The fuel from the return pipe was being drawn into the air intake causing the engine to surge. No more peugeots then! I look on advisories on the MOT as a heads up to have the items replaced during the year as on last years test they picked up the rear disks were corroded, these were changed soon after. I did have a corsa with the misting front struts. on the way to the test, the car received a steam clean to all 4 corners and the struts were replaced during the year along with the springs as the old ones were being taken off and for £30 the pair and the same for each strut top, the front end was sorted, I think that, in the situation of changing drive shafts the pads and disks will have to come off, might as well put new one on at the re-fit Interesting to know about the cam belt, I have a suspicion the dealerships will still recommend you having this done every 5 years keeping an eye on the profit! Kevin
  13. Thanks for the reply, I do have the spare key, its still in the vehicle pack from when I collected the car on Christmas Eve 2020 and never used, changed the battery on the main one recently, I will certainly keep an eye on the dampers and any knock from the front suspension. For me, I would start at the weakest part, the anti roll bar drop link which takes a beating over the speed humps! it goes for its last service under the plan and second MOT in a couple of weeks, so will await any advisories and no doubt will be pounced on by the sales team I think I have around £3,500 equity in the car, so that could be used towards the replacement, possibly something from the rising sun? I did have a SX4 a while ago which was completely reliable, chain driven cam, easy and cheap to maintain. I did consider a CRv, but they could be a little too big for me, ideal for the dogs though. I did consider something from the PSA\Stelantis group, Peugeot or Citroen as I've owned these in the past, but after a little digging on the net I read horror stories about the puretec wet belts and the DV5 timing chains, they have an odd arrangement whereby they are belt driven to one cam and a 7mm drive chain, which wears and stretches, to the other side of the head. I've had a couple of XUD engined Peugeot's both clock over 150,000 miles with no issues with regular maintenance. Gone are those days I think!
  14. Evening everyone First post, I'm nearing the end of the PCP deal and now considering all the options. One of which is retaining the car and paying off or re-financing as the car will have 40,000 miles and a full service history. My thinking is that I know the car and don't know the history of any replacement vehicle and have the full service history for this one, better the devil you know! Its been more than reliable and see no reason to change As I intend to keep the car for 3 - 4 years and do around 10,000 miles or less per annum, what would be the normal things to look at over the next 30-40,000 miles apart from front pads and disks, tyres? my sister in law had the basic 60hp engine and it developed a water leak. This, she said, was a common fault. Her's would be a pre-facelift model. I tend to go for the face lift models as they will have any modifications, improved trim and so on According to the dealership the DSG box is sealed for life, but after 5 years I feel an oil change would be in order as I mostly drive in town as the oil would degrade. Its due a timing belt at the next service, is it advisable to change the waterpump at the same time? I would like the serpentine belt changed at the same time as you will be taking the old one off, best fit a new one when you are re-assembling that end of the engine? I'm planning to use a local non-skoda repair agency who quoted me around £400 for the job
  15. 2020 Monte Carlo in Rally Green with the DSG box, believed to be one of the last to arrive in the country
