2020 Montecarlo 48,000 miles

Featured Replies

Hi all

My car had now covered 48,000 miles in just over 4 1/2 years, as I'm planning to keep the car for a couple of more years, what should I be looking for in preventative maintenance? When should I be thinking about looking at the DSG box fluid change, if its required. I'm sure its sealed for life and should only be changed when the transmission develops a fault

Does anyone have any experience of the all in service plan from Skoda?

thanks

Which engine is fitted to your Fabia?

I can only speak for the 1.2TSI, i bought it at 75.000km (50k miles), so about the mileage you are on now (it was 5y old when i bought it, built in 2015). After 5 years, it’s on 205k km (127k miles) In this time, i had only 2 issues, being a broken valve actuator, setting me back around 300 euros, and a leaking waterpump (this set me back around 600 euros

General maintenance is quite cheap, depending on how confident you are in doing your own maintenance. I run longlife oil that i change every year since I drive around 20-30k per year (15-20k miles).

Spark plugs are replaced about every 60-70.000km(40/45k miles) and set you back 150-200 euros at a garage, or 40(regular plugs)-80 euros(iridium plugs) if you do the maintenance yourself.

Brake pads last you about 50-65k km(35-40k miles) km (depending on your driving style of course). My discs are generally worn after 2 sets of pads.

At 250K, i’m planning to have the timing belt replaced. Depending on the wear, replacing the clutch at 250k km or 300k km may be necessary since mine is a manual. Never replaced the gear oil until now, have not heard about anyone replacing it with an dsg/automatic.

I have no experience with the Skoda maintenance package/service plan Tbh, since i do most of the work myself.

Hope this helps!
