Hi all, sorry to necro an old thread. Wanted to leave my experience today of having this issue looked at by the Dealers. I started getting this issue about a month ago, Mainly when the car was cold; If I drove it for some time it would dissappear. However, after taking it to the dealers for inspection under warranty, it became more and more frequent. Moreso now the weather is getting colder. When I took the vehicle in, they looked at it for a day to investigate and they suggested that it needed a new part on the gearbox after leaving it with them. They ordered that part, told me it was safe to drive and asked me to bring it back in in a few weeks time. Fast-forward to that appointment and I left the car with Skoda, they promptly brought the car in on the ramps and I left with a hire car. I forgot that I had left something in the glovebox I needed for work so I went back a few hours later to ask if they could let me get it, At this point I could see that the car was on the lift and had its exhaust off so they could get to the gearbox. The service staff were helpful and let me get the bits i needed after letting the car down and I left the car with the them for the 2/3 days they quoted. Fast-forward again to today, They ask me to collect the car as its done; I eagerly head down to the dealer this evening and all was seemingly fine, I was ran through my paperworks, jobs done etc. The sweet service manager then heads off to go and bring my car around and this is when it all went to 💩... She brings the car back into the workshop and I can see that she is talking with the service techs, they start looking around the car and get under the bonnet and she comes back to tell me that the car is having more issues and will not go into park so they car cannot be turned off. Needless to say I was a little miffed (to put it lightly), however, the only solace I can take from it is that it happened whilst the service manager was in the car. I then needed to frantically make amendments to the hire car as I had already notified the company that I no longer needed it, luckily I was able to sort this out with 10mins to spare. Anybody know what could of happened? The car originally drove fine with no issue other than the warning message and now it seems the car is more broken than when it first arrived! Ive seen here that people have mentioned that its a microswitch in the tower, so why were they messing with the gearbox? Thanks in advance!
