Hi sealover1 Has this really sorted your ECU problem? I have an Octavia with the same failure. ECU can't reach by VCDS, engine won't start and the cooling fan comes on after a while. I just bought the car like this. (I know I'm a bit masochist ) Previously garage investigated that it has an ECU fault. They sent it to specialist for repair. They sent it back as unrepairable because it was repaired previously. I found few dodgy cheap fuses in the fuse box today. Might I have to replace them and check all 12V supply on ECU however garage report says that they checked all 12V and Ground on ECU and it was fine.
