1.0 MPi difficult gear selection for first and reverse
Hi Steve, Haven't tried yet. I am just comparing the situation with the same protocol before/after oil change.

1.0 MPi difficult gear selection for first and reverse
I had not driven the car since Saturday (we are Thursday) and it got parked out with a lot, lot, lot of rain ... at a certain point where the break was still sticking despite released !! Even with those conditions, speed 1 and R worked directly : 1 = without having to force R = without making a noise Therefore I also validate this oil you suggested (i.e Liqui Moly Top Tec MTF 5300 70-75W). I don't know if by just changing with the original VAG oil I would have had the same result either just because my oil was "tired" after only 5 years. Anyway the only people to blame are the Skoda official mechanics who said "there is no problem in your car, it is the way it is, known gearbox issue on these MQ100 models" !!

Ok I am eventually convinced thanks 😉

Where is the fuel filter located ?
Let's just say that if I see a truck filling the tank at a gas station, stirring up all the mud and algae, I'll go to a different gas station. Thanks for your encouragement. I am not saying it is like in Angola here, and it should be fine for at least a few years. Just a minor detail, Skoda could have put that filter outside. It's like the back seat in the Fabia (the seat cushion) that doesn't fold down ... little little things obviously ...

Where is the fuel filter located ?
Hi, Sure, Will update my profile. Concerning your remark yes : we can buy petrol from the usual gas stations but more and more people go to super markets who opened gas stations (not for profit) but to attract Customers. These last ones are invading the market because they sell petrol with a very little margin ... therefore the quality of the tank cleaning is just awful.

Where is the fuel filter located ?
Well it clearly was in the Seat Ibiza II 1.4 MPI 60hp. clean every 30k km replace every 60k km And it would be logical because with not always clean station gas, you can have this filter becoming dirty (like at home with the water taps grid). But anyway, here are the things with modern cars, they frustrate people like us who like to take care of mechanics.

Where is the fuel filter located ?
Hi Team, Indeed I had seen this video already and bought the correct part number. I also saw some VW Up! (therefore Citygo) where this filter is clearly accessible. Have done it several times on my former Ibiza II 1.4 MPI (quite similar to the video) and a very old BMW 316 in the past (those were very small and in the engine compartment) However, this is the theory ... but when the car was lifted up, the sad reality did not match at all !! I opened a case at Skoda France asking for more details. The person indicated that I should suscribe to Erwin Official platform for more information but this fuel filter no longer needs to be changed in the current maintenance program ...

Where is the fuel filter located ?
Hi All, Thanks for your answers. Indeed, I saw on YouTube people with the very same engine, 1.0 MPI / 60 hp / code CHYE, changing it in a VW Up! On my Fabia, I could not locate it at all. I bought one from the part catalog because I wanted to change it, as every time I buy a second hand car, I like to give it a deep full maintenance. If it is integrated in the full pump, I won't dare to access it ...

Where is the fuel filter located ?
Hi Team, I know there is a fuel filtre on 1.0 MPI 60CV CHYE but I cannot locate it !! Could you please indicate me if it is in the engine compartment or behind ? Thanks.

1.0 MPi difficult gear selection for first and reverse
Hello everyone, sorry for the long delay in replying, but in my area I had trouble finding a car lift to rent. But the symptom: the first gear movement was hard to engage in 1st and Reverse when cold, and it was quite quick : no symptoms after 5 minutes of driving. In the meantime, I went to Skoda because my vehicle was under warranty. They obviously reproduced the problem BUT think it's normal and won't damage the gearbox (I have serious doubts given the grinding noise in Reverse). Anyway, I bought two 1-liter bottles of Liqui Molly Top Tec MTF 5300 70W-75W and I found a lift to change it (because chains like Midas, Speedy, etc ... will never use oil not specified by Skoda). First surprise: it was very, very difficult to access the fill hole. It's at the top of the gearbox and you have to unscrew a Torx screw that holds a plastic plug. Then, you absolutely cannot add the oil without a good quality syringe with a nice long, flexible tube. The bottle's tube is too short. The filling point is NOT overflow-style, so it takes 1.1 liters, which is more than one bottle, and you can't know how much you've put in because there's no access at all when I put my finger in; there's a metal part that prevents me from reaching inside. Worse still, with spills on the ground, the syringe to fill, etc., you don't know how much you're putting in... After some calculations, I determined that I might have put in 1.25 liters instead of the 1.1 liters listed for the oil change (and 1.3 liters for a completely new or disassembled gearbox). In short, I hope I haven't damaged my gearbox because there's no oil breather like there is for engine oil. At most, there might be an air pressure relief hole, but I couldn't feel anything with my finger (and again, there was no visibility). The oil change was yesterday, and today I only started the car three times today, including once this morning. So far, there's no suspicious smell (there was a little yesterday, but that's normal with the syringe that got a bit everywhere, and the heat), and the gears shift smoothly. So I think I'll leave it as is.

1.0 MPi difficult gear selection for first and reverse
Thanks for your feedback. I try to document myself to this future operation as much as I can :) Fyi : eventually find out I have an MQ100 gearbox (gearbox UDB, gearbox diff. MQ100 don't know what these all mean but googling a bit helped)

1.0 MPi difficult gear selection for first and reverse
I will do it myself next time I hire a lift for full service. I did such an operation several times in the past on my old Seat Ibiza. The only thing that fears me is what MonteCarlo wrote : "should also mention that the garage said the filler bolt was so difficult to undo that there was a real chance of breaking the filler, so they had to remove the reverse sensor switch and fill the gearbox through that instead." If I remove the reverse sensor : not only I never did such a thing but it also implies that I might need to replace the seal that probably comes with it ... I will try the classical fill keeping fingers crossed ... How did you proceed on your wife's Fabia ? Was the filler bolt easy to remove in your case ? Thanks.

1.0 MPi difficult gear selection for first and reverse
Hello NTA16, I know, I am too procedural :-) I live in Brittany (the weather is similar to yours) in a suburban area where I can park on the sidewalks. Eventually, if I understand you correctly, there is no point in parking facing the other way; it will not change the 1st and R gears, which only stick when starting. So in priority replace the oil with "Liqui Moly Top Tec MTF 5300 70W-75W"...

1.0 MPi difficult gear selection for first and reverse
Concerning my routine : don't laugh because I am overcareful (kept my previous third hand car for 19 years) : 1./ when arriving home, despite it is not TSI, I stop the Engine after 30 sec, 1 min without touching any pedal of course 2./ when taking back the car, despite I have the Kessy button, I turn it on in several phases : a./ press the Kessy button b./ wait 3 seconds for the gas pump to initiate c./ clutch + button to turn the engine on d./ wait until the automatic starter brings it from the initial 1200 to 800 rpm !! And of course when I use the clutch, I press it deeply ...
