  1. Just following up on this, I ended up getting a Towtrust tow bar fitted and used it for the first time this week. The car tows well, although I ended up in sport mode most of the time to stop some gentle rocking on the suspension, various things such as a trailer indicator light show up on the dash. It also shows a picture of the trailer when reversing alongside the reversing camera. However I do get two informational warnings when starting the car :- Trailer side assist unavailable - Just reading the manual and I think this maybe that the blind spot alert system is disabled with a trailer connected Rear traffic assist unavailable - As with the side assist the manual seems to suggest this is correctly disabled when a trailer is connected One other thing I noticed is I the "front assist" big red collision warning appeared in the middle of the dashboard a few times whilst in traffic, I've never seen this before. I have a theory that with the trailer lowering the rear ride height is it possible the radar at the front isn't pointing in the right direction? the circumstances in which it triggered I was approaching a car in front but not excessively fast and no different to when I've driven without the trailer. Any thoughts? Thanks Robert
  2. Morning, I'm having a Towtrust towbar fitted this morning so the car is in pieces, I was having a look around whilst the bumper was off and wondered what the white sensor in the middle of this picture is? I can see the parking sensors in the bumper itself, is this something to do with the the side assist system? Thanks Robert
  3. OK, update on the noise from the rear of the car. A helpful friend sat in the back whilst we drove around, and we've managed to narrow it down the latch for the rear seat folding mechanism on the driver's side. Unfortunately, it looks pretty much impossible to get into the mechanism other than through the part where it slots on the metal bracket. We've sprayed a bit of lithium grease in there for now to see if that helps at all. I'll know more tomorrow night as I'm off on a 3-hour drive, assuming the tow bar gets fitted as planned tomorrow.
  4. Fitted replacement front Skoda rubber mats to replace the worn out original carpet mats. I've also bought a boot liner (not an official one), just waiting for it to straightout (it was shipped rolled up) then I'll drop it in the boot.
  5. thanks all, still trying to track down the noise. I friend is going to help out tomorrow by sitting in the back to see if we can pin down the area its coming from.
  6. Great, thanks all, lots of useful information. I ran Cross Climate 2's on my Honda so it sounds like the 3's or the Goodyear Vectors will be worth a look when its time to change. Useful tip on slightly different tyre size, something to look into. Thanks for confirming the other bits around the ACC and coasting, sounds like it's all expected behaviour. I'm off to take a look at those DCC threads!
  7. So I'm 2 weeks in on my 2019 L&K 190 TDI estate and I've spotted a few things, I've had a search on the forum but haven't managed to find anything relevant so thought I'd post to see if anyone knows. Coasting in eco mode - Love this, it works really well but there are a few oddities, it only seems to kick in if you come of the throttle, if you are going downhill and brake a bit it stays in gear until I Iightly touch the throttle to trigger it. I'm guessing this is by design behaviour to avoid the car rolling to fast down hill AAC - Works well, I find it more useful on single lane roads in traffic than the motorway where it seems to get quite easily confused. Two things to call out, it never coasts when using AAC, is that correct? also if I use it in traffic it will quite happily stop the car but will only move off again if the stop/start hasn't kicked in. If the engine has been stopped it will restart the engine but I have to press the throttle to get the car to move off and then AAC picks it up again immediately, is that what other people see? DCC - there's a nice noticeable step between the different modes but I find comfort or normal to be very floaty, allowing too much body movement. I suspect this is just personal preference, I've ended up with an individual mode with sport DCC but eco for driving which seems counter intuitive Economy - What sort of economy are people seeing on 190TDI estates? I'm getting mid to high 40mpg reported on the dash, seems OK but I little surprised it isn't managed 50+ on motorways Wheel size - My car came with 19" Trinity wheels with 235/40 Bridgestone Potenza tyres, they seem pretty noisy and I was wondering if the ride comfort and noise levels are better on 18" wheels? the car certainly looks good on them so not in a rush to change Overall, it seems pretty good so far, I've updated the maps (thanks to this forum for the links) and I'm gradually working out all the features and settings. Still haven't quite got the hang of the size (it's 10cm longer and 10cm wider than my 2007 Accord Tourer!!) but I'm sure I'll get used to it. I've got to track down an odd metalic rattle front the rear right of the car, it sounds like it's inside but I've removed the parcel shelf and spare wheel and it's still happening. I'm going to get a friend to sit in the back to see if we can pin down where it's coming from. Thanks Robert
  8. Thanks, looks like mines been replaced at some point.
  9. I thought as much, makes sense as the glass is immaculate which I wouldn't expect on a car with 67K miles and a load of stone chips on the bonnet.
  10. FWIW looking at my windscreen on the driver's side there is a label saying FUYAO with a part number of DOT459M148AS1. Could someone else with a similar spec car (MY2020 2.0TDI L&K) have a look and see what it says on a factory spec car?
  11. Ah that's useful to know, mines a 2.0TDI 190 but FWD so hopefully should be OK. I'm going to speak to a couple of local tow bar companies today to get some proper quotes.
  12. Thanks all, it's really hard to tell the tint but I'll have a go on a cool night and see what happens.
  13. In theory my 2019 car has a heated windscreen, in previous cars with heated windscreens I've been able to see the wires but I can't see anything in this one. I have a nagging feeling it's had a new windscreen at some point (some of the trim on the right-hand side is out of place and the ticket holder isn't there). I've definitely got the button for the heated windscreen but in the current climate no idea how to check it's really there. Any suggestions?
  14. Thought I'd say hello, just joined the world of Skoda today after 13 years in a Hond Accord. I've just picked up this 2019 (MY2020) Skoda Superb 190 TDI in Laurin & Klement trim, it's got 67K miles on it, 19" Trinity wheels, the boot net and divider options and a spare wheel. It seems to have been a motorway car as the bonnet is quite heavily stone chipped, but the inside is in amazing condition, I'm not sure anyone has ever actually sat in the back! Next steps, sort out a boot liner, new set of front mats (the drives side one is worn through) and get a tow bar fitted to tow the other car around!
  15. I'm going to be towing a 4 wheel car trailer with a car on, total weight ~900Kg (it's a Caterham 7 so a very small trailer with a lightweight car). No idea how that compares with a caravan though. Things are never simple are they :-)
  16. Thanks for that, useful to see what it looks like. That's the one I've had a quote of £1,400 for! Just spoke to a different dealer and whilist he quoted me a similar price, he also said it's expensive and they have plenty of customers with 3rd party tow bars on their cars that work well. I'm thinking a 3rd party detachable swan neck bar might be the best option, looks like around £900-950 fitted including the vehicle specific wiring harness.
  17. Thanks both, I stumbled on this link which seems to be for the official tow bar (the kit at least) and it looks like there are lots of extra bits that the official kit includes. Maybe it's just being over cautious. I'll have to see how it goes this weekend with the car and then make a decision. 18. Hi, I'm (hopefully!) about to purchase a MY2020 L&K estate and I'm trying to work out the best tow bar to fit, I've read through the forum but can't see much for the MKIII Superb. Having spoken to my local dealer it's £1,400 for the OEM tow bar! I can see quite a few options online around £800-900 but I'm concerned about whether they will work with the parking sensors, reversing camera etc. Any suggestions? Thank Robert (potentialy Superb owner in a few days...)
