  1. Hi All, I've tried searching but struggled to find anything relevant, I'm looking to move from 19" wheels with 235/40 tyres to 17" wheels with 215/55 tyres on my Superb TDI190 L&K. It looks like there is a tiny difference in overall circumference that will mean the speedo is slightly over reading. Is there any coding that should be done to account for this?
  2. OK, sounds like step one is to get it into a garage who can confirm they need replacing. I've got a local friendly place (same place that did the MOT test) or the local Skoda service centre, I'm in two minds which to use. If I go to the Skoda centre I suspect there is a much higher likely hood they will say "replace".
  3. So, not unexpectedly, it looks like the front DCC dampers on my 2019 L&K have started to leak. It was MOTed last week and the tester didn't think it was bad enough to warranty an advisory. I have a 3rd party extended warranty on the car for the next 12 months, any thoughts on how bad the leaking has to be before they will replace them? or is it going to be very subjective and depend on the garage I take it to? I've got some photos but can't seem to upload them at the moment.
  4. I've had the "brake" alert on the dashboard a couple of times, most recently on the motorway when the car in front slammed on the brakes (full emergency breaking from 70mph, indicators flashing etc for no apparent reason). There was a LOUD beep and the warning but I was already covering the pedal so I braked rather than the car. I've had a couple of low speed parking manevour instances where it seems a bit sensitive but notthing terrible.
  5. First MOT for my 2019 Superb since I bought it in my, just over 70,000 miles and it sailed through with no problems. The front dampers are leaking but the MOT tester said it wasn't enought to warrant an advisory. Still given I've got an extended warranty for another 12 months it's on my list to get replaced.
  6. I'm another L&K owner that would love the DCC slider mod!
  7. It's a really odd failure, I've seen faulty dampers or top mounts cause uneven wear but normally you'd see that all around the tyre, not just in one place. It can just effect one tyre though.
  8. @cnc that's a worrying wear pattern, it suggests there might be a damper or top mount issue. If that's not resolved you'll likely see the same again in new tyres. Was it like that on just one tyre or both sides?
  9. For clarity when using Google Maps via Android Auto, is that appearing on the dashboard? on my car (admittedly and older model, 2020 with a MIB2 high) if I use Google Maps it won't show on the virtual dashboard, only the built-in navigation will show up there.
  10. If you hold down the MENU button for about 5-10s it will enter service mode and you can see the version and type there. There's a pinned thread in at the top of the forum where you can match up the version number with the MIB type. It sounds like it might be a MIB 3 though. 17" wheels is good, I agree entirely, prefer the better ride. Interesting that it's on 17" though, I thought all the L&K's had 18" as standard, maybe it's a hybrid thing.
  11. Sounds similar to my car, a September 2019 L&K . Its a facelift model ( blind spot warning in the wing mirror etc) but has the earlier steering wheel. My car has ACC but doesn't have lane assist, just some of the oddities of the change over. I suspect you'll have the MIB 2.5 head unit as well which is a good thing. Check in the glovebox to see if there's and SD card and DVD slot. I'm pretty happy with mine, its a 190 TDI. One other thing to check, is it on 18 or 19" wheels. I'm on 19s and whilst they do look nice they don't help the ride comfort.
  12. Which gearbox do you have?
  13. No all-season tyre is going to be as good as a dedicated summer tyre, might be worth watching this video as alongside the CrossClimate 3, Michelin are introducing a CrossClimate 3 Sport which seems to address any handling concerns. TBH, and sorry to all the Sportline owners out there, a Skoda Superb is not and never will be a sports cars without extensive modifications. It's an excellent large estate car and I drive mine as such, my priority with tyres is cold and wet weather grip, as whilst I don't hang about I don't push it beyond the limits even in the dry.
  14. I ran Michelin CrossClimate 2's on my previous car (Honda Accord, 16" wheels) for years. They are a great all round tyre, I used to have a dedicated set of Winter tyres but in the UK it just wasn't worth it. Once the current tyres on my Superb wear out I'll definitely go the same route, all be it with the Cross Climate 3's. The only thing I need to decide is if I stick with the 19" alloys the car has it switch to 18" for slightly more tyre profile and cheaper tyres.
  15. It's changed over the years but broadly speaking the L&K has the following on top of Sportline Dynamic chassis control, those adaptive dampers Electrically adjustable front seats Heated rear seats (I think both models have heated front seats) Canton sound system, more speakers and a subwoofer Rear-view parking camera Heated windscreen Virtual pedal, open the boot without the key Park assist I think that's the main differences. I think the Sportline has different, sportier, suspension as standard. That 2016 looks in decent condition, the price seems reasonable as well. It's got the 190 TDI engine (there are two specs) so is the slightly quicker model if that makes any difference.
  16. Welcome to the forum, I've just joined recently with a 2019 2.0l TDI Superb estate, it sounds like you are looking for something similar just a bit earlier. I ended up going for an L&K spec car as it has most of the extras such as ACC included, mine has 68K on it and still feels like a new car. The only thing I'd say is my car came with 19" wheels which give a slightly harsher ride but it's still acceptable. I believe a panoramic sunroof is an option, I've seen it on a few cars. I'm sure there are better experts on here, but the adaptive dampers seem to be a source of problems for some people, they seem to leak and need replacing. In terms of things to fit post purchase, I've swapped out the carpet mats for rubber mats (Skoda official ones) to make it easier to keep clean. I've also fitted a boot tray and a protective lip on the rear bumper. All fairly small things but they just help to keep the car in a better condition. Have you seen this one? a bit above budget but they might negotiate down.
  17. That's a tough one, feels high though, for comparison there's a 2023 plate L&K IV on Autotrader for £25k with 28K miles on it. Given a choice that would be the one I'd go for. Or a 2020 plate of the same car for £21K with 29K miles. I hate to think what state a car is in that's been standing around for 5 years.
  18. The winter fuel mix always seems to be the main driver, I've seen it across all the diesel cars I've owned with various manufacturers. As has been said I typically see 3-5mpg less in the winter with no change in driving.
  19. OK to confirm it's definitely the autohold that's making the noise, not the actual handbrake. Although driving the car without autohold in traffic is interesting! @Ootohere I've only had the car a month, but looking at the service history it's had two brake fluid services, one at 32K and another at 66K. The car is currently on 68K, I can't see any record of new pads or discs, although it has a full Skoda service history so I'm sure they would have been replaced if needed.
  20. Interesting, in my car the noise is when I release the brake pedal after the car has stopped. I don't get a noise when getting back on the gas to pull away. I'm going to try turning off autohold later today to confirm it relates to that but everything I've read suggests it is that (the P symbol in the dash is green not red for example).
  21. Ah that could be correct, I'll have to test and confirm but I suspect it's the same for me.
  22. Thanks both, I'm in the "its annoying" camp more than anything else. I like to drive smoothly and the clunk when I ease of the pedal just grates. SkodaKing if you get any further with it I'd be interested to hear, my car is a 2019 so outside of the main warranty cover so dealers aren't going to be that interested unless I start paying!
  23. dedie could you expand on that? unsure why it would be any different to a factor fit towbar, or do they seal up some of the gaps? Sounds like something to look out for.
  24. Hi, I've noticed that if the car applies the handbrake when I've stopped in traffic there is a distinct "clunk" noise as I lift of the brake pedal, it doesn't seem to matter how gently I come of the brake pedal. Just to be clear the scenario is in traffic, brake to a halt and the handbrake comes up, then as you lift of the brake pedal there is a clunk from the pedal. Is this normal? Thanks Robert
  25. Thanks, I'll double check nose weight although I'd be surprised if it was any more than that.
