steering wheel light
Hi, That sounds very similar to what I had. If the fluid level is fine, it’s usually either a bad electrical connection or the pump itself starting to fail. Check the basics first: Battery/alternator voltage (the pump is very sensitive to low voltage). Fuses and wiring (clean connectors with contact cleaner). If that all checks out, most of the time it ends up being the pump electronics rather than the rack or fluid. A used TRW pump fixed mine

Power Steering Issue – Need Help from Fabia Owners! (OBD Report Included)
Update for anyone following my issue: I finally fixed it ✅ Here’s what I did before solving it: Checked 12V supply (battery/alternator). Checked fuses, wiring and connectors, cleaned them with contact cleaner. Checked fluid level (saw a small leak at the rack, but still OK). After all that, the pump itself was the issue. 👉 I replaced it with a used TRW pump (100€ + shipping). Notes for anyone else:Always do the tests first (12V, fuses, wiring, fluid). Make sure you get the same pump model (TRW) or an equivalent. Replacement is not complicated with basic tools. After fitting, just bleed the system by turning lock-to-lock with the front wheels lifted. No coding needed if you install the same type of pump. I’ll add two YouTube videos below that helped with the replacement. Power Steering Issue – Need Help from Fabia Owners! (OBD Report Included)
Hey everyone, I’ve been trying to figure out an issue with my 2007 Skoda Fabia 6Y (petrol), and I thought I’d ask for your advice since I’ve already looked around on some forums and haven’t found a clear solution. So, here’s the problem: When I start the car, the power steering works fine, but if I drive for a while and then turn the car off and on again, I get the 01309 - Power Steering Control Module No Communication error, and the power steering stops working. This happens more often when it’s warm outside, and I can’t figure out what’s causing it. Before anyone asks, I did check the power steering fluid, and it was at the minimum level. I’ve since topped it up, but the problem is still happening, so I’m not sure if that was the issue or if it’s something else. I’ve checked a few forums, and I’ve seen similar issues with other Skoda models, but I’d love to hear from anyone who’s had this specific problem. Has anyone dealt with something like this before? Any tips on what might be causing it or how to fix it? Here’s the full OBD report for more context: OBD Report - Skoda Fabia 2007 (Petrol) Date: 2025-03-07 VIN: TMBNW46Y0741****** Mileage: 161,920 km Thanks a lot for any help – really appreciate it! Hey everyone! New Skoda Fabia Owner here
Hey guys! I’m Tom and I just wanted to drop in and say hi! I’m pretty new to this forum, but I’ve been into cars for as long as I can remember. Always looking for tips and tricks to keep my ride in good shape, and it seems like this is the place to be for that! I drive a 2007 Skoda Fabia 6Y (petrol), and I’ve had it for a while now. It’s been a solid little car, though I’ve been running into a couple of issues recently, especially with the power steering system (anyone else had that problem?). Otherwise, it’s been great, and I’m always doing some maintenance or small upgrades to keep it running smoothly. When I’m not messing around with my car, you can usually find me out with my camera. I love taking landscape photos and going on long hikes. Traveling’s a big thing for me too – I love road trips and discovering new places. Anyway, looking forward to chatting with you all and learning more about Skodas (and cars in general)! Hope I can contribute to the community as well. Catch you all around! Cheers, Tom
