Well, I was planning to change the DSG oil today, but once the engine undertray was removed I found some quite heavy corrosion on the bottom of the oil pan. The job is now postponed until I can get a new oil pan. Not sure how common this is, but I thought it was worth a mention. It’s deeper than it looks in the photo. 2016 Octavia VRS 2.0tdi.

Hello. New to me 2016 Octavia VRS tdi. I would like to enable smart link for car play and android auto. But before that, should I update the firmware and do I really need a *4** version or can I just stick with the latest available *3** update? Thanks.

My son has just bought a 66 plate VRs tdi hatchback 96000 miles. I will be the chief mechanic! First job, for next weekend, will be a DSG oil change. I am quite impressed with the car so far, it’s the first VAG product in the family, 2 BMW’s, a mini R56, 2 Fiesta’s an MX5 and a couple of classics. Simon.
