  1. Hi Lee 01 It's a great club with friendly and helpful members
  2. Hi , My driving license is up for renewal next year and it's really easy to remove the oldies from the road ( I am 75 ) thus removing the car numbers. I fully support a fair driver assessment by a qualified accessor but no based on age.If you are caught driving in a reckless manor twice in two years your driving by standard should be apprised but regardless of age. I personally believe that we should employ a zero alcohol driving limit for drivers reaching retirement and a mobility standard again should be set. I witnessed yesterday an old couple having great trouble entertaining a high performance sports and I believe the driver was not in real control when driving off. I live in a small town that had in realty no buses and a train service that again has a cancellation level that is totally unacceptable. Driving standards should be assessed regardless of age.
  3. Good evening , Could someone explain why I have to keep signing in to the forum even if I leave for only 5 minutes. I really enjoy the forum but it's driving me round the bend.
  4. Hi , Superb with a 1.5 Tsi has has recently cut out twice with the car slowing down to approx 5mph. Went to acelarate and the car stalled, floored the throttle and the engine sprang into life. Really dangerous if you ask me but has anyone member on the forum experienced a similar issue ? Stop start button now is pushed every time I start the car.
  5. Hi , Well that throws my idea out of the window. I had a VW Passat that used a new idea then of a Dual mass flywheel that was designed to save weight and provide a better ride. I know what I am going today is obvious but you really need to found out what the problem is before throwing money at the car. In the Passat the VW dealer thought the clutch had failed but the cause of the clutch issue was the dual mast flywheel had failed. Unfortunately I feel that a dealer visit may be the only answer and speak to the master technician. Really sorry I could not be of any help.
  6. Hi , how does the car start on a hill ? Any vibration when letting the clutch out at the biting point ?
  7. Hi , I have a 2019 Skoda Superb and I must say the headlights are terrible. I have written to Skoda with no reply asking them what is wrong with the car headlights. The supplying Skoda dealer has checked the headlights and all within specification. The headlights are really bright but no range , but if your are into bird watching in the trees they are fabulous. The headlights are Bi Xenon It's really lucky I don't drive the car in the winter months , I am mostly out of the country.
  8. Hi , I am sure that the Skoda service manager at my garage tells me the first thing that comes into his mind. Castrol told me it's 0 20 W grade required or 5 30 W for the 1.5 Tsi engine.
  9. Hi , What do your Insurance company say about such a modification ?
  10. Hi , from memory the parking selector has to be in the P position on my car ( DQ200 gearbox ) to lock the car. My drive is on a slight hill so I use the automatic parking break.
  11. Evening , my Superb 1.5Tsi now runs on 0-W-20 Castrol Edge. It could have left the factory with 5-W-30 Castrol Edge. What I would say the engine oil when checked appears cleaner on the 0-W-20 engine oil.
  12. Afternoon , hope this has not been covered under under an other topic. I have returned from a 50 mile jolly today and find that a slight petrol smell when we get out.Its not a strong smell but is noticeable at the rear of the car. The car fuel consumption is fine , uses noi engine oil , smooth on tick over , drives very well. Any suggestions on a possible fault as I am concerned to drive the car for my safety and that of other road users.
  13. Due to availability of Shell fuels in Worcestershire I now use Esso. On my diesel engine truck when I first acquired it the tick over was erratic to say the least. I was a real sucker to all the fuel polish adverts and chucked overtime most of the preparatory fuel cleaners. Zero benefit re tick over but always passed the MOT emissions. All I do now is fill the truck with super diels and the tick over is better ( not brilliant ) With my petrol Tsi Superb again I only fill with Esso 99 fuel and have never considered using fuel additive I keep all the fuel receipts
  14. Evening all , The Skoda dealer who supplied my Superb refused to change the gearbox oil. The same story by a specialist garage in Gloucestershire ! It's the dry clutch gearbox
