This was my experience. As there was another fault I was able to sell the car back. Eventually I found a used Mk 4 with factory fitted integral towbar and coding. From reading round on the internet I've seen suggestions that VAG have not released access to the coding due to EU legislation. I have read of some fitters suggesting use of universal electrcs/controls but there may be problems caused by this plus loss of warranty. The fitter recommended to me was very reluctant to explore universal connections. It is appalling that the cars are described as having 'towbar preparation' when hardware can be retrofitted but there is no supporting software available.

Miss-selling. Wasted money on a 9 month old Superb Se L. Sold back to dealer under Consumer Rights 3 months after purchase as it had another fault that put it in workshop for 7 weeks. Has anyone had an after market towbar fitted? Was it usable? Not sure that Skoda is the way to go anymore

Have similar problem on my MY24 1.5 TSI eTec mhev. Cant tell if it is still happening as car has been in workshop under warrranty for 7 weeks diagnosing problem with seat functions! It was given a new battery when I bought it as it was flat then (apparently... we couldnt get in to do a test drive... a warning sign about going ahead with the purchase that I should have followed). Again, though infotainment reported a problem, diagnositics said no fault. It would be nice to read a torrent of high praise on Briskoda for these 2024 onwards Superbs to get some reassurance about the brand. Not had problems like this in all of my 40 years of car ownership - skodas for the last 22 years.

Replacement didn't work. Skoda tell dealer to obtain new valve block (part of massage function?). But it's on back order. Weeks? Months? Lost confidence in brand after 17 years. A number of excellent media reviews and particularly as a tow car (trying to get a tow bar is another story). Liked the concept but in practice does it follow through? Really wonder whether it's worthwhile keeping it. But feel it's the wrong time to try getting something else. Mine's an Aug 24 'combi' Tsi 1.5 eTEC MHEV. Bought used in April. There seem to be a lot for sale at the moment (July) with the same first 4 number plate characters. Significant? What I can't find are lots of owner reports saying how good and reliable the vehicle is

Day 28 in Workshop: New 'media unit' to be fitted yesterday or today... 'this will fix faulty massage and ventilation functions'. Waiting to hear how successful this is in reality.

Car still in workshop 20 days later under warranty. They can't work out why ventilation and massage functions are not working. Skoda send them pages of diagnostic tests. More and more layers of the car are stripped back... Could go on for ever...

Thanks! It's a detachable towbar that's waiting at the fitters. Apparently wiring possibly available in 10-15 days...but that's been the story before. I can see more problems to come... My dealer's workshop is discussing with Skoda techies a possible communication module failure affecting driver seat functions and 12v battery - goodness knows what will happen when tow bar is wired in. Your experience doesn't sound great. Cars have become too complicated.

Day 7 in dealer workshop (including the weekend when obviously no work is done). They received long list of checks to work through from Skoda yesterday.

Any one having problems over tow bar fitment delays - hardware arrived at VAG specialist but he's had problems getting the module and wiring - now 10 weeks since placing order? Have read on other pages (Karoq) of problems getting the coding as well. If car is advertised as having 'tow bar prep' why such difficulty?

Car in workshop while dealer tries to find out what to do. They think software issue and have referred to Skoda tech... This is day 3 in workshop.

I can't detect seat ventilation/air con. Car in workshop for warranty repair of non-working massage function in driver seat. Dealer has to contact Skoda for coding assistance...they think two are connected...?
