  1. Thanks for the info I'll take a look at obd11. I'm doing 33k miles a year which is mostly a 100 mile commute every day. The only reason I ask is it's listed under the oil section of the manual that it can take vw504 on fixed and 507 on variable or the other way round. But the online manual lists VW 502. Honestly I have never had a problem finding oil and service intervals with any car before until now. Thank you for the help
  2. I do a lot of miles so will need to change variable. Is that possible without a tool? Does obd11 need a subscription? Thanks for the help
  3. I have a 2014 MK2 Fabia 5j2 with a 1.2 TSI engine cbza I believe. Firstly I hone no idea if it is on fixed or variable service intervals and need to reset this. As well as this I need to do generic diagnostics. I have been looking at the ICARSOFT vag reader I can't remember the exact model. But I have also seen knock off vagcom cables. I have never used vag com so was wondering what sort of equipment I need to use it and what are the costs associated with it. Any help or recommendations of alternatives is greatly appreciated.
  4. Yeah it's a 1.2 TSI apologies I forgot to add that. This is my conundrum as it was serviced at the dealership before I bought it and I have no clue what oil was used. And as well as that I'm in sure about how to check if it is set to fixed or variable From what you are saying with 18-20k I might do it every 6 months as that is just under 18k otherwise I'll have some odd intervals. I don't suppose you know is off brand vcds cables are any good as I am probably going to need on to reset service intervals?
  5. I bought my MK2 Fabia getting on 2 months ago no and I can't find a single fault other than VAGs lovely swing radio. I'm doing about 30000 miles a year and would love to keep on to of servicing. I know the car has a built in counter but can't tell if I'm reading it correctly. I am reading it that I need to service in 5.7k miles or am I going nuts. Also what are there any recommendations on parts e.g. oil brands and any recommendations for not always thought of "service" items Thanks for any help is greatly appreciated 👍
  6. I have had a look at them, especialy the 510 as it is a similar style and in my opinion it looks better. what are the drawbacks of the RCD-510 as opposed to the RNS-510 or is it just the lack of navigation as i prefer google maps any ways. As my car is lacking the maxidot will this affect its functionality? This is my main reason for looking to just add bluetooth to the swing as i dont need the extra bells and whistles just the ability to play out of the car speakers without having cables everywhere. If i were to retrofit bluetooth to it what would i need and same for the radios a found a couple of tutorials but they were all for maxidot or lacked any information at all (or at least were not in english). Thank you so much for the help its greatly appreciated.
  7. Hi Guys, I have just picked up my 2014 Skoda FABIA 1.2TSI SE with 26k miles on the clock, and I am loving it. Unfortunately, it was not particularly high spec, with the green display not being Maxidot on the dash, no reversing sensors, and the swing radio with aux as shown below. I am looking to add Bluetooth, as I don't think I have it from the factory. In the radio menu, there is the option to enable it, but when enabled, it still won't show in the media option. Am I doing something wrong, or do I just not have BT? If I don't have it, I'm looking to retrofit it or enable it with VCDS. I'm not sure if it's possible or even worth it, to be honest. I have seen this https://usb-nachruesten.de/buetooth-interface-adapter-vw-skoda-seat-rns310-rns315-rns510-rcd310-rcd510-amundsen-bolero-columbus-swing-retrofit and also a lot of references to a 9W2 module. What would I need to do to do this modification, and is there a way I can check if the module is already there or if the radio already has BT but it needs enabling? Thanks for any help.
