VCDS or ODBEleven or ???
In light of my recent experience https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/534350-epc-light-no-stored-codes/ I am going to buy a VAG compatible code reader. My main purpose will be reading codes / live data to make me an informed purchaser of garage services, fixes on the road and a bit of home maintenance though my classics come further up the pecking order for that. I like ODBEleven's mobile compatibility but is there a must have feature in VCDS that I will come to miss? Or are there any other systems I should be considering. Thanks in anticpation of your responses. Jeremy

EPC light / no stored codes
Looong story short. Had car 3 months, 2015 1.4tsi. It threw an EPC error and lost power on the way home from dealer, RAC diagnosed a loose tb plug, cleared codes and sent us on our way. We're currently in Spain in the car and it did it again last Friday. Tb plug didn't appear loose but I wobbled connectors, including the pedal and its been fine over many hundreds of miles and dozens of journeys since. The EPC and Engine warning lights still show when you turn the ignition on but go out when the car is started. I've obtained an ODB reader and to my surprise it's saying there are no stored codes. I'd have though the warning lights indicate the presence of stored codes. Your thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks Jeremy

Allseason tires for Superb facelift 2.0 tdi
Our old Saab 9-5 Estate (The Superb is it's spiritual successor) could run on 17 to 15 and I dropped it from 16 to 15 and never had any cornering problems. As Colin Chapman advocated, you need the tyres in contact with the road, for this you need compliance. Plus, despite containing more rubber, higher section tyres tend to be cheaper. That said, I have no complaints about the Superb's ride on 17s.

215/55/17 thank goodness. I'd have been happy if the car had come on 16" rims, sidewall is a good thing, especially on UK roads at the moment.

Allseason tires for Superb facelift 2.0 tdi
Only done a small, dry mileage with the Contis but initial impression (against half worn summer Churchills) Quieter, despite the more agressive tread. More feedback on turn in. i.e. quality all season better than cheap summer which is perhaps no great surprise. Looking forward to trying them in some rain! I was fully expecting KF to find something to charge me for with their free alignment check but to my surprise it was "all fine, no charge!".

Wind deflectors
Searching the forum history I know this is a marmite topic but... Aircon has it's place but I like driving with the window down (I've owned a '63 AH Sprite for 40 years, I like draughts!) and the kids enjoy it too. However we're finding the Superb very inclined towards buffeting with some combinations of windows open so I'm considering wind deflectors. The iSpeed brand seem to be everywhere and the most cost effective at around £30. Other brands are avaiable at getting on for twice that (Heko, Climair...). I'd value anyones experience both in general and specific brands. Many thanks.

Allseason tires for Superb facelift 2.0 tdi
Hi everyone, new owner and new member here. The car came with four 'Churchill' tyres so a priority is to get some decent rubber on. In the past we've run summer & winter tyres on the main family car but not wanting to tie up £1200 in rubber I've decided to try All Seasons. Having over-researched, as is my nature, and watched the excellent TyreReviews video a couple of times I had resolved to get the new Pirellis. However, KwikFit currently have 20% off 4 Continentals and as the Contis came a very close second to the Pirellis the lure of saving £100 proved to much! I'll report back when they've been fitted and I have a chance to try them.
