Help - 2012 DSG Diesel Starts and almost immediately dies.
To seal this thread, I have just had some annoying/dissappointing news. My friend, whose current car this was, has informed me that a mechanic came to diagnose the car and said that the cambelt had broken. My friend has taken this information and scrapped the car. I think he has been sccammed My ccurrent annoyance is that, as a (admittedly not up to date) mechanic, how did the car start? If the cambelt had broken, and yes, they said broken -not stripped or skipped (supposedly showed a piece of broken belt), how did it fire. My experience of broken cambelts tells me that this was bullcrap. The engine will spin but not fire or run lumpy with skipped teeth. Yes, this is a frustrated rant - the car would have been sold to me cheaply as a kind of reimbursement for all the unpaid work I have done on their cars. Thanks to everyone who tried to help.

Help - 2012 DSG Diesel Starts and almost immediately dies.
It starts for literally 1-2 seconds and then dies. tried an unprogrammed key for the car and when i tried to start it with that, it did the same but brought up an error on the screen "key not found". dont get that warning with the actual key thats worked for last year and a half. Almost like the anti-shudder valve?? but no idea where that is on 2.0TDi. (easy on PD engine) Starts strong every time, had it running once - smooth as silk. Just dies straight away.

Help - 2012 DSG Diesel Starts and almost immediately dies.
Update on the problem which still hasn't been resolved. Took the wheel arch liner off to check for any obvious damage and found this wierd gear type thing on the undertray beneath the sump. It's made of rubber and seems like it has come out of the A/C compressor pully. No other damage found. Any idea where I can get a new pulley/clutch? Car still not starting for any length of time but also need to sort this now.

I am thinking this may be the case, but it's just funny how there's been no problem with the key before the belt...

I messed about with it a bit and it started, ran fine and then after I turned it off again, back to no start. Timing is fine though. Maybe should havee given that little tidbit of info earlier but still not starting.

Help - 2012 DSG Diesel Starts and almost immediately dies.
2012 Superb 2.0tdi auto Hi, I'm new here and need a little help... As in heading, The car turns over and starts great but immediately dies. My friends car but may be mine soon. The car snapped a drive (alternator) belt, ran fine til he got it home (obviously battery kight on). He turned it off and when he tried to start it again, it would start as strongly as usual, but die straight away. He connected his Autel to it and no codes came up I have fitted new drive belt and assumed that, with all the electronics nowadays, the system was proteecting itself from working with no charging. I hoped that the new belt would solve the problem but... no! I swappeed out the battery temporarily in case the old onee was getting weak. and no dice. Frustrating Ther is only one key to the car. Any help that can be given would be hugely appreciated and I hope I've given enough information BTW, I was trained as a Land Rover mechanic back in late 80's and am mostly lost with electronic systems, although competent at mechanical operations.
