Face vents not operational despite calibration
Hi .As the title really,no air comes through the face vents despite trying a recalibration several times. Is this something an interactive ( right description?) code reader can check? If the flap actuator has failed I shudder to think how inaccessible that might be! Thanks.

Independent Skoda garage Lincoln/Boston area?
Hi. I've posted recently ( thanks everyone) about a worrying occasional rattle that disappears on depressing the clutch. Thanks to advice here the belt (40K 5 years) should be ok..I then thought the rattle might be the dual mass flywheel,as I had experienced this on my old T4 .However Skoda say the flywheel is solid. Trying to get more advice before splashing out on belt/clutch. Does anybody have an independent guy in the Lincoln/south Lincolnshire area please. Thanks Mick

1.6 tdi cam belt and dual mass flywheel query
Thanks for that. Seems the belt change thing was a bit of amoney spinner. I'll save the £700 and put it towards the clutch and flywheel.👍

Ah cheers that's interesting, I read there are variations depending on the country, what is the current recommendation here then?

1.6 tdi cam belt and dual mass flywheel query
Thanks Pete and Alasdair that's reassuring, the belt is at a change point from the time point of view, but there's quite a bit of discussion around that whole issue. It was when I noticed the noise went on depressing the clutch that I remembered about the dual mass flywheel on the T4. It's just doesn't seem black and white with cam belt stuff. Obviously would be lovely to do it all.... if in a perfect world... Thanks

1.6 tdi cam belt and dual mass flywheel query
Hi again Hoping for some more good advice! Cam belt is at 40K ,5 years approx. I know there is a lot of controversy around timings of cam belt changes, and it seems the precautionary principle is the main view.Expensive principle but fair enough.I was having the belt changed because I could occasionally here a low rumble at tick over. Thinking tensioner pulley or something potentially very nasty. However, the rumble disappears when the clutch is pressed, and on my VW T4 I was told a new dual mass flywheel was needed. And it was .Replacing the flywheel, clutch etc will surely be more expensive than the belt.I'm guessing the DMF will rumble on for a good while.(car has 134K on the clock) I'd really appreciate some views on the whole situation. I can't pretend cost is not a consideration. I suspect having both jobs done would be beyond me at the moment, but do I have a choice really? Long post 🙄 Thanks for taking the time. Mick

Which OBD is best? 1.6 diesel
Hi again. The service light won't reset using the press the trip method ,also the aircon won't blow out of the face vents despite recalibrating (might be another fault I guess) so Im thinking I'll need to reset the service light with a diagnostic tool Which one though? I should add I've never used one .

DPF worries
Hi again. I have a 1.6 tdi My daughter recently had to sell her VW Sharan after the DPF was pronounced dead. At least 2K to fix, probably much more. Her car was low mileage, full service history. Can I protect the DPF on our much older vehicle, are there options if it clogs up? Thankyou

Octavia III service Will I struggle?
Hi. My Octavia III 2015 is due a service. I guess ebay will get me a manual. I'm experienced in car repairs but not worked on anything needing a code reader. Will I need the appropriate bit of kit to reset the service warning etc? Also any part of the (basic) service that's tricky. Thsnk you Mick
