  1. thanks for th help - think i have managed to find the issue - turns out it was something to do with the actual ignition switch (or ignition lock) - when i took the key out, it would come out and there was no click - when this happened i would have the alarm issue - but a quick jiggle removing the key, i would get the click and the alarm would work.... very very odd
  2. morning all, having issues with my key fob/ remote central locking. Started a few weeks ago, basically the fobs don't work (both), red light comes on but nothing. The car will unlock manually, and the car starts. But a few opens/closes the alarm doesn't seem to beep when manually unlocking (but it does unlock). After a 30 min drive, it started working again both fobs. Flash forward 2 weeks and two 7 hour drives later, and the same is happening again. I have replaced the fob batteries, and tired numerous resyncs but nothing. The same strange manual unlock with no beep is also happening (until I start the engine and run it) then the alarm beeps when locking/ unlocking. It seems like maybe this is low voltage issues ( main battery), would explain the long drives and it working. But the car starts well, no slow crank. checked the main battery, charged it as well - no change- but this morning i opened the car (manually) to put stuff into the boot, and it started working again - but stopped working when i got to work.... clearly intermittent, but not sure Any thoughts It's a 2012 2l tdi thanks :)
