  1. Thought I would update this as it never got resolved. VWFS responded and sided with the dealer advising that the noise was how the car was designed, I can't find anyone else complaining about this though, no technical explanation was given. I got in touch with the Financial Ombudsman to try and get Skoda to budge but they again sided with the dealers explanation. Further issues developed, the front suspension started to squeak, went into the dealer after a 5 week wait, tech typically could not find a noise however they did find a massive wood screw between the tyre tread, and being a Contiseal tyre they would not repair it, they also brushed me off with some bull**** about not being able to fix EV tyres due to the pressure and 'torque', so they refused to road test further. So at a cost of £190 I had the tyre replaced which was fitted at the end of the day. Silicone lube was sprayed all over the door rubbers as a pre-emptive fix but this made no difference. I was advised to book the car in again which meant another 5 week week wait. In the end I decided to wash my hands with it and after a year of ownership I traded it in. Over 11 years I have had 3 new VW group cars (2 Audi and a Skoda) and all three had significant mechanical issues as well as issues with the trim from new and took ages to get fixed. I think, despite best intentions, there appears to be a serious parts lottery with this brand. I won't be purchasing any more VW group vehicles.
  2. I am starting to hate mine. I sold a perfectly good Audi A3 to fund this turd and I regret it immensely. The EV stuff works fine, the car itself which you would expect Skoda to have got sorted is less so. Rattles, buzzes, ticks and clicks from the tailgate - thought I had fixed them but they suddenly came back with vigour. I also get random buzzes and rattles from the dash depending on the temperature and road surface. Turn up the sound system and the speakers rattle the door cards. Around 5K miles there is a knocking from the steering rack when turning the steering wheel left or right at low speed or stationary. Skoda dealers are useless and say its normal, Skoda UK side with the dealer as to VWFS, Financial ombudsman took VWFS side so I am stuck with this until I hand the keys back or sell it at a loss. Around 10K miles front nearside suspension started squeaking over sharp bumps. I will get this looked at but I expect another 'fault not found' or 'characteristic' brush off. The suspension while not the worst is firm and a little crude at times even on 19" wheels with 55 profile tyres. While I can live with it given the other issues it further fuels the anger. The clear coat while not the softest I have come across is very prone to water spot etching and bugs stain it. Buy and learn how to use a machine polisher or get it wrapped if this sort of thing ****es you off. I could be forced to spend a weekend tearing the car to pieces and isolating the issues, however for a car that costs over £30k I don't think that is acceptable. It was a new car not a weekend project car. The lack of support from Skoda is also very disappointing. Christ, even when we picked the car up the plastic trim on the lower sill had come away from the bodywork and they still put it through the PDI. Would not buy another.
  3. Top banana thanks for the info. Ill keep this thread updated.
  4. Cheers bud. Any tips on getting the dealer to bring in a VW Group Engineer without being fobbed off?
  5. Me neither and I only found out because you mentioned it. The nozzle is so small I never noticed it was there when I clean it. For anyone lurking, you need to put the car in reverse and activate the rear window washer, it will fire a jet on the camera.
  6. Thanks for confirming. Would you mind if I ask how old your car is and mileage? The car has been to two different dealers with the same outcome “they all do it” but no attempt to isolate the component. To be fair the vehicles in both dealers did exhibit this noise but it still does not seem right - especially since mine was silent until reaching around 5k mikes. I contacted Skoda UK sided who the dealers opinion and were unwilling to escalate further. I submitted a complaint to VWFS as the car was purchased on a PCP arrangement, still no response since 17 November. Next step is motor ombudsman but for now I am trying to find out if others have noticed this. I posted this on Reddit and YouTube - both have had thousands of views but no one has confirmed their cars have this issue, so I am assuming this is not a widespread problem or “characteristic”, you are the only person that has confirmed they do not have this problem. I did some basic diagnostics and the noise can be felt through the tie rod ends on both sides but the noise is coming from the steering rack area, however I have not gone any further as I don’t want to tamper with anything due to it being under warranty.
  7. Just wondering if anyone else's vehicle exhibits this symptom when moving the wheel slightly at stationary or low speeds? https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ZfCo42h5eEw The car is RHD and two Skoda dealers said it was a "characteristic" as other vehicles did the same, however mine started around 5K miles. Not getting much help from Škoda UK but I don’t believe Škoda engineers would sign off noises like that when moving the wheel. Cheers.
