One more question, there seems to be a seal between the plenum and the windscreen will I damage it if I lift it?

Brilliant many thanks for the reply, do I have to take the windscreen wipers off too? I have water in the foot well and electric problems so hoping cleaning it all out will help.

I have a problem with water ingress and know this has ever been cleaned on my car, how do I get behind the wheel arches? I am a complete novice! Any help advice or photos greatly appreciated.
