Leaking boot skoda superb Mk3 estate
Having removed the bumper and resealed all the joints it was disappointing to find the boot still leaking. Finally i bought a roll of 50mm wide PVC tape and sealed around the offside rear light fitting. Bingo the water has stopped coming in. I have now orered a new seal for the light fitting and when it stops raining will fit it, but I am enjoying a dry car. Thank you to everyone for the advice.

I have had someone in the boot and hosed down the back of the car with a hosepipe. It is not the boot seal as it is dry on the inside. Looking in the various holes at the top of the boot lip on the inside there is no water visible when we have used a torch and looked inside. It seems to be getting in further down behind the bumper. Have checked the inside of the tailgate and that is completely dry also. I think the next step is to take the bumper off, but wondered if replacing the sealing material on the inside I could avoid this.

I have the picture of where the water is coming in under the black sealant attached I was wondering wht people thought of scraping out the leaking sealant and then resealing it with an appropriate sealing materieal such as tiger seal . The leak is right in the corner.

I have taken off the trim on the offside on the inside of the boot. A further hosing down showed no leaks from the roof rails or off side light rear light it was all dry. What we were finding is water was running behind the bumper and seemed to be getting into the tunnel that the tow bar is secured through, I am thinking this might be the culpret, so I will need to take the rear bumper off and have a further check. The water is appearing below the sealant between the rear of the wheel well and the floor.. It just seems to be leaking through there. Anyone go any manuals that show how to get the bumper off please,

Thanks Danold I have had the rear washer out and it does not apear to be leaking into the boot lid. Have done the hose pipe test as well. I think I will need to remove more of the trim and see. It is just non stop rain here in Suffolk at the moment.

Thanks for the advice I previously received on replacing the 3rd brake light it was invaluable. I am still trying to find the leak in the boot of my superb estate and was wondering if anyone else has had experience of this. It is coming in on the offside under the plastic in the corner. So far I have removed and replaced the boot seal in a different position Replaced the 3rd brake light. I have had the rear lights off and can not see an issue I did find the rear off side mounting for the roof rail loose and damp underneath and have tinghtened this up, but it still seems to be leaking. It is very frustrating to have to continually sponge out water from the spare wheel area. Will try and take a picture tomorrow of where the water is appearing. Andy Robinson

I need to replace the third brake light in the centre of the tailgate which also incorporated the washer, I have a leak into the boot of the car I am still trying to find, but have decided to replace the light as it is cracked. Anyway I could not work out how to remove the old one, but did get it out in the end in several bits. The replacement has four clips and two black sliders as retainers. The unit will not just push in and you can't access the clips from behind once it is in place. I have already destroyed one new light trying to fit it. Does anyone know how these lights should be fitted or direct me to fitting instructions.
