  2. The rear wiper motor for mk1 are cheaper and look the same
  3. holy-thread-revival Did anyone find that the rear-wiper-motor different from the saloon version compared to the estate? (I have mk2 PFL estate) In short - I'm wondering if there's any viable alternatives - or do we have to hunt for the exact make/model for a precise match
  4. Just changed mine (one handed) - recorded it for youtube to help others.
  5. Hi rum4mo The nuts on the bolts that secure the saddle clamp are square on my 04 fabia vrs. How would you recommend removing them? I don't want to use an adjustable spanner (incase it slips and begins to round it off....), but is that the preferred method? Thanks in advance.
  6. I've tried the loosen the nuts on the bolts that secure the bush clamps to the subframe, but they're square (Fabia mk1 vrs 04 plate). A 17 mm, or 18mm socket sort of fits on it if that's any indication of it's size. How has everyone removed these square nuts? I'm not replacing the ARB, just want to replace the bushes. I've read that it should only take 20 minutes per side. I'd agree if I could loosen the nuts. Help is much appreciated !!!!
  7. Managed to pump the hand brake lever to push the old piston out. Looks like the old rubber seal melted and formed a sticky residue on the piston. Cleaned up very easily with brake fluid and 3000 wet-dry. Will post images up of innards as I didn't really understand why you have to wind them back in till now (the piston sits on a screw).

  9. Yeah, the nut to the flexi pipe was apparently standard (m7 or something). The nut that was in the caliper was larger, not sure of size. Halfords didn't have the larger one in stock, went to DRB in Warrington (vee8essie was ferrying me around, what an absolute legend), DRB made a new brake pipe up for £2.50. So after a few hours of fitting, bleeding, test drive, rebleeding, the car is back on the road. Couldn't have done it without vee8essie, or this forum. Can't thank vee8essie enough. (He has his modded mk1 octy vrs for sale 1.8T 20v, if anyone is interested, 210bhp, was lovely)
  10. I couldn't get the hook end in the hole, so I just maneuvered it around to rest on the rubber bung. Works OK, loads of tension in the spring, couldn't manage it by hand, so used the nylon string to pull it around after I'd slotted the straighter bit into the other slot
  11. The sheared end is loose but haven't inspected to see if the bit of pipe can be pushed through so I could reuse the but, not even sure if that's safe.
  12. I have 1L of Dot4, and a diy bleed kit (bottle and aqua tubing). Have soaked the "tight" end in wd40 over night, hoping that doesn't give me problems.
  13. A year on, vent still OK, no issues. Could have mounted on inside, didn't remove the underside plastic cover that blocks access to the intercooler though hence the quick (easy access) method of mounting on outside. Could seal it with black silicone I guess, I just sprayed it with black spray, seems to have held up. <thumbsup>
