  1. Confession time. Checked the SB fuses against wiring diagram, noticed F6 was blank, but listed as covering the instrument cluster module. Put the 5A that was in F5 in F6 and bingo! All came back to life. When I was removing fuses 1 x 1 to check a battery drain, I must've put F6 back in the F5 empty slot - what an idiot!

  3. Hi Andy, I have the exact same problem on my car (albeit a Golf 6 1.4 TSi, but should be similar electrically to an Octavia 2 (we have an Octavia 3 & 4 also). It started when the alarm went off during a battery drain test. Afterwards, same as you had: no ignition, no instruments or info screen, but central locking, sidelights & interior lights work. I have no power to the ignition switch on the 4-wire connector, but can't check the keyswitch solenoid wires as it's too cramped. Did you have power at the switch? This makes me think it's not the problem, but worth checking I guess...
