  2. Yes it seems to have passed every MOT until Jan 2024. It makes me feel like it's been well cared for. Where it Failed on: Do not drive until repaired (dangerous defects): Nearside Front Tyre tread depth below requirements of 1.6mm (5.2.3 (e)) Offside Front Tyre tread depth below requirements of 1.6mm (5.2.3 (e)) Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories): Nearside Front Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement (5.3.4 (a) (i)) Offside Front Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement (5.3.4 (a) (i)) Failed Jan 25 on: Nearside Front Tyre has a tear, caused by separation or partial failure of its structure excessively worn showing metal cords (5.2.3 (d) (ii)) Offside Front Lower Suspension arm pin or bush likely to become detached has excessive play in rear bush (5.3.4 (a) (ii)) Repair immediately (major defects): Offside Front Tyre date code illegible or not visible on a tyre fitted to a front steered axle of a bus or coach tyre showing metal cords excessively worn (5.2.3 (n) (ii)) Nearside Front Lower Suspension arm pin or bush excessively worn has excessive play in rear bushes (5.3.4 (a) (i)) Nearside Front Windscreen wiper does not clear the windscreen effectively (3.4 (b) (ii)) Offside Front Windscreen wiper does not clear the windscreen effectively (3.4 (b) (ii)) It failed in Apr this year with: Repair immediately (major defects): Front Brake disc significantly and obviously worn Both Sides (1.1.14 (a) (i)) Offside Front Outer Drive shaft joint constant velocity boot split or insecure, no longer prevents the ingress of dirt (6.1.7 (g) (ii)) Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories): Offside Rear Tyre slightly damaged/cracking or perishing (5.2.3 (d) (ii)) Rear Registration plate deteriorated but not likely to be misread (0.1 (b)) Oil leak, but not excessive (8.4.1 (a) (i)) But has since passed.
  3. I have been looking around for a basic cheap run around - automatic - but witout much success. There is a 2002 Fabia 1.4 16V Classic 5dr forr sale near me. £2700 (which is overpriced I feel) with 66500 miles on the clock and it says 1 previious keeper. Am I mad to be considering a 24 year old car? I just missed out on a 2013 fabia though I was worried about the DSG gearbox. I used to have sometime ago a 2003 Skoda fabia and loved it. But I'm worried about taking on such a old car. I might add I know next to nothing about cars!
