  1. Hi - I have a vRS mk3 with MFSW and would like to move most of the stuff that is on my main screen to my Maxidot display. At the moment I cannot access settings (the option is not there) via the Maxidot display and that is the main function I would like moved to it. Is this possible? Do I need to get someone with VCDS to do it? Thanks in advance
  2. Yeah - that was part of sales pitch 'Upgraded Media Unit' - so they've shot themselves in the foot. I wondered why the Sales Manager smirked when he told me.... Never have trusted main dealers - but I had no choice with this car as it was the only one that was affordable and specced to my liking and I only had two weeks to buy a car before I went to France as my previous vRS' cambelt snapped... (I should add - at 80 on the motorway... not much engine left
  3. Ok - that's good to know. Whatever they are putting in will have to be like for like... so I'll make sure it covers all the current features. DAB, Bluetooth, NAV.
  4. Hi A bit of an update to this.... I contacted Car Audio Medics and they informed me that the unit is a cheap Chinese copy and they have no access to spares or replacement parts - so it's finished. I sent this information to Skoda and asked them what they are going to do about it - as when they sold the car to me, they told me the system was an 'upgraded' model... Anyway, after some 'discussion', they are going to replace the unit - with genuine parts. Can someone tell me what model I should be getting and ask for because I still want the Bluetooth and DAB to work - or do all the models do that? I don't want them to fob me off with some crappy old model. I'm quite happy to pay some money towards an upgraded version if its going to be noticeably better than whatever they offer me. Any advice appreciated. Cheers BTW - car is 2014 vRS MkIII.
  5. Yeah it looks nothing like the normal connector - but that might work in my favour if it those connectors fit in a standard cheap Android unit. Anyway I've actually found these guys not too far from me... https://www.car-audiomedics.co.uk/ So hopefully they can just fix the screen. I really don't use the actual unit for anything other than DAB but even could get away with not using that as I have everything on my phone. The Nav is completely useless in my opinion and out of date from the moment it was installed - I can't see why anyone would use anything other Google Maps - so my phone is fine for that. Also I use my phone via Bluetooth for Streaming music - so don't really want a complete new system. The screen really is used just for changing options in car that I can't access from anywhere else. I'll look at removing the glovebox part but and see what is connected anyway.
  6. Sorry to keep posting but can I just buy a cheap Android 10 unit and swap it over? Will I still be able to see the car information and menus?
  7. Searched the internet and that model does not come up anywhere... Bit odd.
  8. Finally got some keys to pull it out. Found a fuse behind it but it's fine. Screen still blank.
  9. Finally got some keys to pull it out. Going a fuse behind it but it's fine. Screen still blank.
  10. I wonder what happens if the screen goes in a Tesla.... would it even drive. It's annoying enough with this car that once the screen goes you lose some functionality - but thankfully it's not the 'only' way to control it!
  11. Hi SashaGrace, the screen controlled the radio and inputs etc - although I can still use the Maxidot via Steering Wheel controls to change these settings. The main thing I can't change now are all the car settings like Mode that were available from that screen. Luckily I had the car in Individual mode anyway so it's not causing any issues as I had the car setup how I wanted anyway.
  12. Hi - thanks for helping. I've ordered some removal keys so will have to wait. If the screen is faulty does anyone in the UK fix them? Thanks
  13. ok - I'm at work so I'll update later. Thanks for your help.
