Move settings and functions from main screen to Maxidot
Hi - I have a vRS mk3 with MFSW and would like to move most of the stuff that is on my main screen to my Maxidot display. At the moment I cannot access settings (the option is not there) via the Maxidot display and that is the main function I would like moved to it. Is this possible? Do I need to get someone with VCDS to do it? Thanks in advance

Display Blank on Media Unit
Yeah - that was part of sales pitch 'Upgraded Media Unit' - so they've shot themselves in the foot. I wondered why the Sales Manager smirked when he told me.... Never have trusted main dealers - but I had no choice with this car as it was the only one that was affordable and specced to my liking and I only had two weeks to buy a car before I went to France as my previous vRS' cambelt snapped... (I should add - at 80 on the motorway... not much engine left

Ok - that's good to know. Whatever they are putting in will have to be like for like... so I'll make sure it covers all the current features. DAB, Bluetooth, NAV.

Display Blank on Media Unit
Hi A bit of an update to this.... I contacted Car Audio Medics and they informed me that the unit is a cheap Chinese copy and they have no access to spares or replacement parts - so it's finished. I sent this information to Skoda and asked them what they are going to do about it - as when they sold the car to me, they told me the system was an 'upgraded' model... Anyway, after some 'discussion', they are going to replace the unit - with genuine parts. Can someone tell me what model I should be getting and ask for because I still want the Bluetooth and DAB to work - or do all the models do that? I don't want them to fob me off with some crappy old model. I'm quite happy to pay some money towards an upgraded version if its going to be noticeably better than whatever they offer me. Any advice appreciated. Cheers BTW - car is 2014 vRS MkIII.

Yeah it looks nothing like the normal connector - but that might work in my favour if it those connectors fit in a standard cheap Android unit. Anyway I've actually found these guys not too far from me... https://www.car-audiomedics.co.uk/ So hopefully they can just fix the screen. I really don't use the actual unit for anything other than DAB but even could get away with not using that as I have everything on my phone. The Nav is completely useless in my opinion and out of date from the moment it was installed - I can't see why anyone would use anything other Google Maps - so my phone is fine for that. Also I use my phone via Bluetooth for Streaming music - so don't really want a complete new system. The screen really is used just for changing options in car that I can't access from anywhere else. I'll look at removing the glovebox part but and see what is connected anyway.

Sorry to keep posting but can I just buy a cheap Android 10 unit and swap it over? Will I still be able to see the car information and menus?

Finally got some keys to pull it out. Found a fuse behind it but it's fine. Screen still blank.

I wonder what happens if the screen goes in a Tesla.... would it even drive. It's annoying enough with this car that once the screen goes you lose some functionality - but thankfully it's not the 'only' way to control it!

Display Blank on Media Unit
Hi SashaGrace, the screen controlled the radio and inputs etc - although I can still use the Maxidot via Steering Wheel controls to change these settings. The main thing I can't change now are all the car settings like Mode that were available from that screen. Luckily I had the car in Individual mode anyway so it's not causing any issues as I had the car setup how I wanted anyway.

Hi - thanks for helping. I've ordered some removal keys so will have to wait. If the screen is faulty does anyone in the UK fix them? Thanks

Only bought the car from a main dealer recently (2 months ago) - 2014 Mk3 TFSI vRS Not even sure what model of screen it is (see photo). It has DAB, Nav and Car information. I have searched the internet for solutions but nothing has worked. It was fine and then suddenly went off yesterday and will not turn on. My steering wheel can still control the audio options and I can see them on the maxidot - i.e. change stations, inputs etc - but I can't see any of the screens car information or change modes or toggle anything on or off. The volume control still works - and I think the screen is registering inputs because I heard a bing when I touched something on the screen - god knows what I've pushed.... None of the buttons will produce any picture. I have tried: Pulling Radio Fuse & Touchscreen Fuse under glove box. In engine I have tried pulling Canbus fuse. Does nothing. I have held Power for 30 seconds. Does nothing. I have clicked the Res button under the display. Does nothing. So firstly can anyone tell me what model of Entertainment system this is - and further anyone got any fixes.... I wary about the dealer ripping me off. Thanks in advance
