  1. So many factors to consider and malcster has covered most.

From experience with 360/PS3 and XBONE/PS4 though, last gen the 360 was the better gaming machine, the PS3 was better at media. This gen, they've swapped (imho). The Xbone is a superb media machine and all rounder while the PS4 excels at gaming.

Another thing is if you've got a Win 10 computer you can stream the Xbone to it with no issues or extra software installs (wife often takes over the lounge TV for her terrible soaps and I stream to my laptop). I know that Sony were working on PS4 streaming but I've not had a chance to play with it yet.

  2. Hmm... These need to go sooner rather than later. The wife is moaning that there's only so many car bits, computer bits and guitar bits I can have in the house as we're getting it ready to put on the market.

If no takers by the end of the week then they'll have to go in the pile for the tip...

  3. Posted in the freebies section as well but I may as well put it here as well.

I've got a set of non-genuine carpet mats for the Yeti that I don't need / want / use. They were given to me by the dealer when I bought the Yeti and are dark grey rather than black.

They're yours if you want to pick them up either from my house near Redruth, my office in Penryn, or if I can convince the children to come in the car with me somewhere nice to meet up (I'm not in work this week, but the wife is and she'll take the mats to Penryn if required).

    Cheers!

  4. Right...

Stupid question but I don't know the answer and can't find it online anywhere...

If I plug a headset into my controller does the game sound come through as well as the chat?

I haven't got a headset to try and before I spend money on a half decent one I'd like to know it I can hear all the game sounds through it!!

    Cheers,

    Simon

  5. I've got a HP Probook 6560b (getting on a bit now) using the HP dock. Goes to 2 monitors (one VGA, one DVI) and has 4 USB's on top of the laptop ones which are still accessible. Also got displayport, serial, parallel, PS/2 keyboard and mouse.

I've been using HP Probook's for years - awesome bits of kit until they go wrong, then they really go wrong (normally new mobo needed).

  6. I went from a Lumia 1020 running the 10 preview to droid last year.

Worlds apart, even on my initial Droid phone which was a Doogee X5 for £40 straight from China. Showed my I liked the OS enough to actually spend money on it and I'm now running a HTC M8S and have been for 8 months (and it's been updated to Android 6 as of last week).

I wouldn't ever go iPhone again - spent so much time dealing with them in my last job and the list of problems that we not accepted as problems by Apple was ever growing (5c didn't have enough space to upgrade the firmware, 5s wiping itself - happened on 4 different phones on 4 different occasions, 6 locking itself out and not allowing unlock when fingerprint sensor failed). This wasn't across hundreds of devices either, this was just across the 40 or so that were in Cornwall. Apple's response was always "we've not come across this before" despite the numerous posts on the same issues in the Apple forums...

  7. I've been doing this for years - software of choice at the minute is Serviio.

Although I don't have a particularly good graphics card (AMD Radeon 5500 series that's about 8 years old) it's more than enough to allow the machine to act as a NAS, streaming to my Xbone in the lounge, PS3 in the bedroom and whatever else I randomly hook up to the network...

  8. Bodmin? You were still up country!

My favorite run down here is back roads between Hayle and Camborne, going past the Hayle Towans. Lovely views, lovely corners and just a fun road.

But then I don't get to do much "fun" driving these days as the wife won't let me loose with the kids in the car...

  9. Does that mean your other half has to drive the yeti? (illegally). If not, just leave the Corsa parked up.

    Just pointing out the possibility!

She has to drive the yeti. No choice really as she still has to get to work and ferry the kids around while I go 15 miles in the opposite direction to get to my work...

I found a lovely feature today - painted rear drums brakes. Not driven a car with drum brakes since my polo mk3 breadvan...

  10. So SWMBO'a Micra has gone in for the damage she did to it down the side, but because her photocard has expired I've got to drive the courtesy car (named on the insurance and a valid license).

My car for the next 3 weeks instead of my Yeti is...

    A Corsa SRi.

I've only driven it briefly so far but yeah, not overly impressed.

Lots of shiny on the interior to make up for the lack of comfortable things and I can't see any of the four sides properly. Even with loads of fiddling I can't see anywhere near the end of the bonnet.

I would say at least it's pokey, but it's not...
