Airbag Error
I've just fitted FitCamx integrated dash cams to my Karoq and the wife's Kamiq. To fit the cam on the Kamiq required removal of the panel above the mirror housing the courtesy lights and passenger airbag lights. As soon as I disconnected the plug to the airbag lights I got an error message. It's all now back together, the lights work and switch over when the passenger airbag is turned on/off. However I still have the airbag error message every time I switch on the ignition and the yellow warning light on the dash. Is this a simple task of resetting the error with an ODB reader?

Fitting aftermarket towbar
It looks like the mystery is solved as to why I can get no information on cooling upgrades for a MY2023 2.0Tdi 85KW. This is a new reply from Skoda UK technical support. To clarify our previous conversation, I want to express that the towbar is not listed as an approved accessory for your 2.0 TDi 85 kW DSG Karoq here at Škoda. Because of this, we unfortunately don’t have specific information on any necessary modifications, such as changes to the cooling fan or front grille. I can appreciate how confusing this situation must be, especially since you've already had the towbar installed. I strongly encourage you to reach out to your installer for the most accurate guidance on any adjustments that may be required for your setup. They should have the expertise to assist you further. If you have any more questions or if there’s anything else I can do to assist you, please feel free to reach out. I truly want to ensure you have a positive experience with your vehicle. As I've had no temperature issues towing a 1300 kg caravan on four 4 hour journeys (Scotland and back twice) I'm not going any further with looking at any cooling mods.

Fitting aftermarket towbar
I had an interesting conversation with someone in Skoda UK support today. I'd asked a question using [email protected] regarding cooling upgrades for retro fitting a towbar. The first reply I got via email was very long winded about the current availability of Skoda towbars for retro fitting but didn't answer the question. I replied, attaching the parts table supplied by @JohnD5314 that related to MY 2018 cars. I asked if there was an update to that table for MY 2023 cars as the 2018 table didn't list the 2.0 TDi 85KW engine that was introduced in 2021. I was impressed to get a phone call from customer services clarifying what info I needed and asking for my reg number so they could give the correct info. I was put on hold and eventually the advisor came back to say it's not possible to retro fit a towbar on my Karoq. When I explained I already had the towbar and electrics fitted he went on to say it wasn't possible and I must be mistaken. If I'm mistaken then I'm not sure how I managed to tow my caravan to Scotland twice this summer. The saga continues.

HELP - Karoq at slow speeds
If you've bought an approved used Skoda from a dealer within the last 3 weeks and it has developed a fault, go straight back to the dealer and explain what the problem is. I've only had automatic Skoda's so can't comment on the "depress clutch" message other than to say, my previous manual Volvo would not start unless you depressed the clutch. This was a safety feature to prevent you trying to start the car while in gear. I can imagine if the car stalls in traffic you panic and your first action would be to try to restart it without depressing the clutch. Regarding the car sticking in low gears and reverse, this sounds like a clutch problem and could also be contributing to the stalling issue. Take the car back to the dealer you bought it from and ask them to fix it under warranty. They may claim that the clutch is a wear and tear item so not covered but as you've only had the car 3 weeks it's reasonable to claim the faulty clutch was present at the point of sale.

Infotainment stuck at loading user profile
I have both my Karoq and my wifes Kamiq registered in the MySkoda app on my phone. I'm the primary user on both cars. Recently my wife said the cars infotainment system wouldn't start and simply stuck at "Loading User Profile". I got in the car and within about 30 seconds the infotainment system activated, no problem. Next day she reported the same issue, checked it again and it worked fine for me. I wondered if it had something to do with needing my phone to be present in the car so turned my phone off and tried again. Lo and behold the infotainment hung at loading user profile. Turning my phone back on and restarting the car and all was good again. I find it hard to believe the car requires my phone to be present to load the last used profile. Effectively this means the Infotainment system including Sat Nav, Radio etc is not functional if I ever forget to pick my phone up on the way out. Has anyone else had this issue or is it just yet another quirk with the Skoda Connect system?

Service Due dates in MySkoda app and in car.
I recently took my Karoq in for its first service, long(ish) story. When I bought the car I took out the service plan for 1 oil service and one full inspection service at a fixed price. The car was also set up on a flexible service pattern at the time of purchase. Having been pestered by the dealer to get my car in for its first service at 12 months I questioned why the car and MySkoda app said I still had nearly 300 days to go for the first oil change. At the time the car had covered only 5k miles. I had conflicting messages from BSM Head office and the local dealer. Head office said it wasn't possible to have taken out a service plan on a car with a flexible service plan, the dealership said it was OK and just to take the car in when the app said it was due. I was a bit concerned that, should I need to claim under the warranty, I would fall foul of not having the car serviced correctly so contacted another independent Skoda dealer nearby. They confirmed I should not have been sold the service plan on a car set up for flexible service as these are generally used for high mileage users e.g. taxis. I duly booked the first oil change service at the independent dealer and they agreed they could change the service schedule in the system to "fixed" and this should avoid future issues. Service complete, I've now looked at the app, and service display in the car, and both show oil service due in 365 days (1 year) and inspection service in just over 700 days (2 years). Clearly the oil service has just been done and the next service due in 1 year is an inspection service. I'm starting to lose confidence in Skoda dealerships for servicing, is this a simple fix that someone has overlooked resetting the car after the oil service?

MySkoda (Essentials): No longer providing either data or control
My Karoq is the same, been like it for at least 2 days. Just a picture of the car with a status of Activated but nothing on any other screen. To be fair, I don't use it much, and I'm not sure if I've used it since the last update of the app on 19th March.

July 2019 Karoq 1.5 SEL DSG - DSG very occasional whirring/whine in 1st
Just to confirm what others have said, I think it's a clutch issue. I had a very similar noise on a brand new Yeti (1.2 Tsi DSG) in 2015. The problem started at less than 2k miles. I likened the sound to an owl hooting, and it occurred briefly when changing up form 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. The dealership though I was mad and it took at least 3 visits to replicate the noise with a Skoda technician in the car. It was eventually diagnosed as the clutch and repaired under warranty. No subsequent problems.

Fitting aftermarket towbar
I'm about to get a towbar fitted to my new Karoq. The car is brand new but a stock vehicle so I didn't have the option of specifying towbar preparation. I confirmed with the dealer that this will not affect the manufacturers warranty, in fact they've negotiated a discount for me at a local fitting centre. Regarding towbar preparation, my understanding is that this consist of installing an additional wiring loom from the front fuse box to the boot space and a slightly different coding to a standard car. As long as you specify "vehicle specific wiring" to the fitting company they should supply the additional loom as part of the package. They should also re-code the electronics so check in advance they are competent to do this. The story of the 0 rating on some cars VIN plates on the B pillar seems to be a hit and miss issue and not related to towbar prep. My car doesn't have towbar prep but states 3500 kg in the second line of the VIN plate. Worth a check as a competent towbar fitter should check the VIN plate and will refuse to fit if this line is empty or contains a 0.

Wireless Android Auto issue
It sounds like all might not be lost for me yet. I'm now leaving the Android Auto issue until the dealer sorts out full access to Skoda Connect services for me. So annoying that a new car, so good in so many ways, is let down by flawed technology.

Wireless Android Auto issue
Further update. When I collected the car from the dealer the "expert" who could verify Skoda connect was on holiday so, to be able to use remote locking etc, I had to return to the dealer with my driving licence to finish the set up. On arriving at the dealer today I was told she'd rung in sick and she was the only person trained to use the Skoda Connect system. Getting to the point on Android Auto, I mentioned my problems to a very IT savvy tech who suggested that, as the phone connects sometimes, it doesn't appear to be a phone problem. He suggested unpairing my phone from the car and performing a factory reset on the car. He sat with me while I did this. With the factory reset done I re- paired my phone and Android Auto immediately started via wi-fi without selecting the App button or any prompting from me. He couldn't identify what the original issue might have been but did suggest it may have been a conflict with Skoda Connect. On the 40 minute drive home I listened to Spotify wirelessly via Android Auto. Obviously, after the factory reset, I then had to reconfigure the Skoda Connect App while I both keys were present in the car. I did this when I got home and, as soon as I verified the Skoda Connect account on my phone, Android Auto disconnected and asked me to connect via usb. It seems that the technician was correct in that there is a conflict between Skoda Connect and wireless Android Auto. Not sure where to go from here.

Wireless Android Auto issue
I tried my older Motorola G9 this morning with the same result so it's not just a Samsung thing. I'm with you on the benefit of the wired connection keeping the phone battery topped up so will stick with that as I don't have a wireless charging pad in the car as I did on my Volvo. Just so annoying that Android Auto works so well wirelessly in our 2020 Kamiq but is just so pants in the Karoq.

Wireless Android Auto issue
Looks like I spoke too soon. The solution quoted above lasted for all of 48 hours before reverting back to it's default "Unable to connect"
