  1. Mike

Been out of touch with Briskoda for a few years now, but just came across your article on the vRS WRC, 66/100 is still in spain and not a spot of rust to been seen.

The car was damaged about 5 months ago during a hailstone storm in Alicante (long term parking), on my return she looked like a golfball. Contacted insurance company and they authorised full repair and respray but would not pay out for graphics and they said this was an additional feature, even the Spanish bodyshop argued my case, but to no avail.

Money now is in back pocket and will order new graphics for car end of this month, at the same time will ask for the wheels to be sandblasted and resprayed, taking the car back to its original order.

I have made no modification to the car since purchasing it new and it still drives great with no major mechanical issues.

10 years on and still enjoying the drive this car gives me, the only draw back now is the increasing amount of speed cameras that are being installed in my area and the reduction in speed limit from 120 to 110km.

    All the best

  2. Looking to sell my WRC, (gutted, but it has to go) it is at the moment on Spanish plates but if buyer wants I can re-register in UK or pay costs - car is still immaculate and not a spot of rust can been seen, it has been in Spain for the past 4 years. Brand new set of decals ready to go on once sold.

    50.000 miles since new

    One very careful owner :D

ITV (Spanish MOT) renewed at begining of month

I will of course MOT and TAX it in the UK once I have a buyer.

What kind of money am I looking at?

  3. You winding me up - it's now a classic.

Did, once think about trading it in, but could not find anything that I like or would compare to it (fun factor).

and trade in price was real silly. Nah will keep it just now, Spanish weather is good for it, no rust. I only have to clean out the air filter once a week.

    GAZ...

But thanks for the offer. (I would like to find out who has 1/100 or even 100/100)

  4. Thanks guys - good to be back.

Taken them off and leaving them off is not an option (not after 5 years), will have to look for a good paint shop and get it priced. I already have a spare set from early days when one small part of the decals fell off, Skoda supplied me with a full set.

Car is still the biz, and I still get a kick taken it out when I am at home (Spain).

Manny/Quiten - good to hear from you again. thought you may have grown up and moved on.

  5. Just a quick hello to say that I am back

Still got the MKI vRS WRC, and not a spot of rust to be seen, still a wicked piece of gear and having lots of fun on the Spanish motorways

Thinking about removing the decals and having them painted on, sun is starting to weather them, any advice?

    All the best

  6. I love it when someone agrees with me

Mannyo - still in Spain, but have moved since your last visit. gone inland and bought a Finca. Love the Autovia, normal cruising speeds are 100mph, got the car (on the clock) to 143mph, :D

  7. The one that I have, has audio alarm fitted and also interior motion detector. The WRC does have uprated brakes and suspension and does handle the road better the the bogt standard vRS, I have driven both.

    GAZ...

Sad day last trip, transferred to Spanish plates, lost personal plate :(

And mine also cost just over the 20 grand.........and worth every penny

  8. Just on that point, talking to my local franchise dealership in Cartegena, he was over the moon to be receiving the vRS in "November" for his showroom. He also said that the Spanish are coming around to the fact that Skoda is a reliable car, this time last year they would not have touched it with a barge pole. I parked across a dual carriageway from the Skoda garage last week to do some shopping, came out to find all the Skoda mechanics at the car, great laugh they were to. Whats "Discount" in spanish

  9. Not sure how you can tell he was drunk though...

Wide road, one way, no other cars parked on road, Boxing day early morning. I might be jumping to conclusions, but I dont think it would take a rocket scientist to work out the probability - Oh sorry, omitted major factor - Spain -

  10. Went down stairs just after Christmas to find that someone had it away with my passenger side mirror, obviously drunk driver, not a lot left of the mirror and mount. Cost to replace is 180 euros at Skoda dealership, that was full replacement and spray - is this about right, or am I getting ripped of because I am a gringo?

  11. Beckham used to own (or maybe still does) a TVR, took it to the same shop as my mates, who knew all of the mechanics - allegedly, one of the mechanics that serviced Mr Beckhams TVR lifted the front carpet and painted a Man City logo on the floor, maybe true, maybe not, but good story.
